The proposed method uses extra registers to buffer and reorder the data inputs of the butterfly unit. It avoids the modulo-r addition in the address generation; hence, the critical path is significantly shorter than the conventional radix-4 FFT implementations. A significant property of the proposed method is that the critical path of the address generator is independent from the FFT transform length N, making it extremely efficient for large FFT transforms. For performance evaluation, the new FFT architecture has been implemented by FPGA (Altera Stratix) hardware and also synthesized by CMOS 0.18µm technology. The results confirm the speed and area advantages for large FFTs. Although only radix-4 FFT address generation is presented in the paper, it can be used for higher radix FFT.","PeriodicalId":393467,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126728968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensor was fabricated using Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) knowledge, and the sensor has the ability to transduce bimolecular signal directly into an electrical signal. The capacitor-based sensors with a nanogap in the range of (20~100nm) was produced using SOI (Silicon on Insulator) wafer, and the insulator layer was the media layer of the capacitor. When the nanogap size is smaller than the electro double layer thickness, the dependence of the nanogap capacitance on the ionic strength is insignificant. This is critical in using the capacitance change as an indicator of the existence of target molecules. Filling the nanogap with biomolecules resulted in the change of capacitance. A C-V analyzer was used to measure the electrical (capacitance) property of the sensor. DNA immobilization technique was also carried out to immobilize double stranded DNA on the sensor and this result was used to understand the effect of plasma modification of silicon surface. This research can have important consequences in DNA-based molecular electronics and direct label-free detection of DNA digestion and hybridization.","PeriodicalId":393467,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126410090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a novel system-level approach to memory design, which was not yet well addressed in existing SLD methodologies. In particular, we extend the SpecC methodology by defining various memory models at different levels of abstraction and a set of refinement rules that support fast and accurate memory architecture exploration. Chang [2] proposed three elements of methods of problem solving and the rule and scope that complement the elements. This paper expands the discussions in Chang [2] by addressing further the resource capability that supports the three elements and proposes a principle of balance that could guide successful implementations of the elements. The long term research goal is to develop a set of virtual modelling tools to support advanced tool motions and process planning strategies for this application. The goal of this research is to develop a reconfigurable robotic platform that can adapt to variable product size characteristics, and alternative deposition strategies while respecting the unique process-related constraints for 2 ½ axis and 2 ½ axis + 2 axis tool paths. A variety of topologies are investigated. For the selected system, a parametric kinematic, dynamic and control model is developed for configurations of the basic platform. Results for kinematic and dynamic reconfigurations of this base platform are then presented. To simulate the process realistically using existing tools, a methodology is developed to illustrate material deposition in conjunction with the tool motions for a 3 degree of freedom (2 degree of freedom planar robot with a translational axis) configuration.","PeriodicalId":393467,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121131526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing algorithms do not scale well to large model databases, as would be required for true three dimensional recognition in the real world. This paper proposes a new algorithm and method of implementation to solve this problem. The new system is based on four Spartan 3A FPGAs, and is capable of real time textural object recognition at 320×240 pixels in a noisy environment. In addition, the system contains rudimentary depth perception when provided with more than one camera, and is able to work with and store a large model database in nonvolatile memory. The base algorithm, hardware design, and testing schemes will be discussed in detail. Finally, it will be shown that this system is superior to prior art in this field.","PeriodicalId":393467,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133307643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using SORPASTM, a software for simulation and optimization of resistance welding process, simulations were performed for MFDC RSW with changing force profiles and weld times. Additionally, an algorithm was developed to automatically detect a bad stack fit-up and correct it by applying an additional compensating force. This was implemented on a resistance spot welding gun fitted with a 4.5 KW servo motor along with a built-in resolver, a UnidriveTM motor controller and a real time embedded program. The simulation and experimental results are presented and compared with results obtained using a constant current (CC) welding process with constant force profile.","PeriodicalId":393467,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133589046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
