An equivalent statistical linearization is performed to include the non-linear nature of the TLCD. The optimal TLCD parameters are the frequency ratio and the pressure drop coefficient. TLCD optimization is performed by minimizing the standard deviation reduction of mainframe displacement. The uncertainty is entered into the mass ratio, length ratio, and head loss coefficient. The behaviour of the efficiency is analysed, measured as a percentage reduction of the displacement when including an optimal TLCD and the RMS of the displacement, before the inclusion of uncertainty in the aforementioned parameters. It is found that the introduction of uncertainty in the period of the structure produces the highest sensitivity in the optimal parameters of the TLCD, the efficiency and the RMS of the displacement of the structure. This occurs mainly in rigid structures and with a small mass ratio. Morales","doi":"10.4067/S0718-28132020000200045","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4067/S0718-28132020000200045","url":null,"abstract":"This paper presents an application of the direct displacement-based design (DDBD) to a reinforced concrete frame-wall system (structures that utilize both frames and walls to resist earthquake actions in parallel). Firstly, the mathematical model is presented alongside a description of the methodology applied to determine the design displacement profile and strength proportion between walls and frames. Knowledge of the displacement profile and some recommendations for the combination of frame and wall damping components enables representation of the structure as an equivalent single-degree of freedom (SDOF) system. Secondly, the DDBD method is used to analyze and design a 12-storey building in which the displacements, storey-drifts, base shears, as well as the wall and frame strengths are determined. Then, some guidelines are presented to design the reinforced concrete structures, specifically those related to the stiffness used for the strength distribution and capacity design. Finally, a nonlinear time-history analysis is implemented in RUAUMOKO 2D, using three records from the Maule earthquake which are consistent with the displacement spectrum contained in the Chilean seismic code requirements (Supreme Decree N° 61). Chile has not been an exception in this matter. Preliminary assessments of these soils’ potential volumetric changes is usually based on limited technical information before developing a complete geotechnical exploration. As an alternative to such estimations, a simple method based on extensive experimental data is herein proposed to predict the swelling potential of these clays when their moisture content increases, even until complete saturation of the soil, which is their most critical situation. The sensitivity of the optimal parameters, the tuning ratio and the head loss coefficient of the TLCD, and the tuning and damping ratio of the AMS are analyzed by including an uncertainty in the mass ratio and the length ratio. Reduction of displacement of the main structure is used as optimization criterion. The TCD efficiency and root mean square RMS of the main system displacement are obtained. The results show that the most sensitive parameter is the head loss coefficient, when faced with an uncertainty in the length ratio. The present research has the objective of analysing the influence of the ceramic coatings simulating the external side, and in gypsum, with different thicknesses, simulating the internal side of a masonry prototype of block seal of solid waterproof gypsum, seeking to improve the thermal performance mainly in the block joints of the block. For this, two specific test methods were used: the thermal chamber and the infrared thermography. We sought to analyse the temperature differences between the internal and external surfaces, by means of thermocouples connected in the middle of the prototype and the mapping of the temperature profile on the surface of the coating. It was verified that the addition of gypsum coatings plus ceramic improves the thermal performance of the sealing system. El objetivo de esta investigación consiste en realizar un análisis para definir la dependencia de la curva de conductividad hidráulica del grado de compactación del suelo. El caso de estudio es una presa de tierra de 22 m de altura con prisma de drenaje, considerando los principios de la mecánica de suelos parcialmente saturados para los estados de final de construcción y operación de la misma, con tres suelos en la cortina de tipo CH y tres suelos arenosos en la cimentación. Para la ejecución de los modelos se utilizan las herramientas SIGMA/W, SEEP/W y SLOPE/W del programa GeoStudio 2012. Los principales resultados obtenidos muestran que la variación en la estabilidad se incrementa cuando el grado de compactación y la succión correspondiente oscilan entre 80 y 95% del ensayo Proctor Estándar. Esto permite alinear los procesos que se llevan a cabo actualmente en los proyectos con los objetivos estratégicos propuestos por la organización. Actualmente los proyectos se ejecutan en base a la experiencia del personal. La organización no cuenta con procesos estandarizados que permitan ejecutar los proyectos de una manera organizada. Con base a la revisión de los acervos de la gestión de proyectos referenciados en el presente estudio, se aplican al análisis de la información de Instelmec para generar un plan de implementación de la OGP. Se definen sus objetivos, alcance, limitaciones, misión, visión, roles y demás aspectos relacionados con los proyectos de Instelmec SAS. En el desarrollo de esta investigación se aplicaron diferentes instrumentos de medición, como son encuestas, entrevistas, auditorias y modelo de madurez, para determinar en la organización la OGP más adecuada. Se analizó la organización desde diferentes puntos de vista, como es la gestión de portafolio de proyectos, cultura organizacional y efectividad en proyectos, las prácticas de gestión de proyectos y la medición de madurez en gestión de proyectos. This building was built in 2013 and is located in the coastal area of Concepción (Chile), the same area affected by the M w = 8.8 earthquake in Maule 2010. The structural assessment was carried out by combining destructive tests (cores’ extraction and test) and non-destructive tests (sclerometer). Using the information obtained experimentally, a linear numerical model of the building was generated, which was used to assess the overall health of the building using a methodology called bio-seismic profile and an incremental dynamic analysis.
