En este proceso las Estrategias de Afrontamiento-EA, al parecer, se asocian con la Calidad de Vida relacionada con la Salud-CvRS; sin embargo, se desconoce el valor predictivo de las EA sobre la CvRS. Este artículo tiene como finalidad identificar las diferencias y la naturaleza de la relación entre la CvRS y las EA respecto al apoyo psicológico, así como identificar si las EA predicen la CvRS. Método: Se efectuó un diseño no-experimental con 55 mujeres entre 27 y 69 años, M = 42.3, DE = 10.1, diagnosticadas con cáncer ginecológico. La CvRS se evaluó con el FACT-Cx y el SF-36; las EA, con el CAEPO. Resultados: las mujeres con asistencia psicológica tienen mejor CvRS y EA, igualmente, la CvRS se correlacionó con las EA positivas. La dimensión de salud general también es explicada por las EA positivas e inversamente por las EA negativas. Las EA que mejor predicen las CvRS son: Enfrentamiento y Lucha Activa, y Autocontrol y Control Emocional, mientras que las EA negativas afectan la CvRS. Nevertheless, geographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the country, and the strategies adopted may have contributed to generating a widespread feeling of uncertainty in the population; uncertainty about the disease, how to prevent it, its severity, and its impact on political and economic issues. This study was designed to investigate the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and common mental health disorders. Participants were contacted via social media messages and encouraged to fill out an online questionnaire with socioeconomic questions, a short measure of intolerance of uncertainty (IUS-12), and a measure of mental health indicator (DASS-21). With a sample of 924 participants from Sergipe, Brazil, three binomial logistic regressions were performed, one for each DASS-21 outcome, categorized by a median. The women in the sample showed a higher probability of having stress, anxiety and depression scores above the median. Over the entire sample, both subscales of IUS-12 were significantly and positively related to all three DASS-21 subscales. A quantitative, nonexperimental study was carried out under a comparative design; with a sample of 558 participants from four higher education institutions. The instruments used allowed the evaluation of the organizational culture —OCAI— and the willingness to change. The results showed significant relationships between the factors and the types of organizational culture with the macro and micro dimensions of the disposition to organizational change. Significant differences were also found between the institutions in the group and organizational dimensions of the disposition to change; in the organizational factor and the type of hierarchical culture. The aim of this study was to predict SA for the first time in Mexico using these explanatory factors: assertiveness, specific phobia, separation anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, self-concept, depression, and coping skills. 649 children aged 6-13 years old (M=8.87, SD=1.889) were randomly selected from public elementary schools in Mexico City. The main results obtained with multiple regression analyses showed that specific phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, indirect assertiveness, and separation anxiety disorder significantly predicted SA in both genders. Concerning boys, assertiveness was also a relevant explanatory variable. Regarding girls, actual self-concept was also a significant predictor. The regression model explained 56.3% of the variance for boys, and 43.5% of the variance for girls. The findings of our study -comorbidity of SA with anxiety disordersunderline the importance of early intervention strategies to prevent the development of other disorders. Also, since assertiveness was a significant predictor, assertiveness training should be promoted in schools, with parents, and included in intervention programs in order for them to be efficient and sustainable, and to prevent and diminish social anxiety. © 2020 Fundación Universitaria Konrad Lorenz. El objetivo de este estudio fue predecir AS por primera vez en México usando los siguientes predictores: asertividad, fobia específica, trastorno obsesivo compulsivo, trastorno de ansiedad por separación, autoconcepto, afrontamiento y depresión. The sample included 319 students from grades 6 to 11. The Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) was the instrument that allowed determining students’ metacognitive skills. This instrument presents two components: cognition and regulation knowledge; consisting of 52 items. The results obtained were analysed through an ANOVA statistical analysis and a Bonferroni contrast. The first analysis concluded that there are no significant differences in metacognitive skills between men and women. On the other hand, the second analysis established differences in the development of metacognitive skills in high school students, favouring sixth grade novices. © 2020 Fundación Universitaria Konrad Lorenz. Relación entre las habilidades metacognitivas, el género y el grado en estudiantes de secundaria Resumen Este trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar las relaciones entre las habilidades metacognitivas, el género y el grado de escolaridad en estudiantes de secundaria de un colegio privado de la ciudad de Bogotá-Colombia. La muestra fue de 319 estudiantes que cursaron los grados de sexto a undécimo, el instrumento que permitió determinar las habilidades metacognitivas de los estudiantes fue el Inventario de Conciencia Metacognitiva conocido como MAI, éste instrumento presenta dos componentes el conocimiento de la cognición y de la regulación, consta de 52 ítems. Los resultados obtenidos se analizaron por medio de un análisis estadístico ANOVA y un contraste Bonferroni. El primero, permitió concluir que no existen diferencias significativas en las habilidades metacognitivas entre hombres y mujeres. Empathy (cognitive and emotional dimensions) and theory of mind (reading the mind through the eyes) were tested based on an observational method with a crosssectional design. Statistical analysis included: description of variables according to their type, assessment of quantitative correlations and logistic multivariate modelling for identifying variables that differentiate female from male patients. The results demonstrated significant gender differences in empathy and theory of mind evaluations. Particularly, women showed different scores for cognitive/emotional empathy and in the Reading the Mind through the Eyes test, with a lower number of behavioural symptoms. The results are discussed in light of the current empirical evidence, and some future directions in the study of conduct disorder are suggested. © 2020 Fundación Universitaria Konrad Lorenz. In this study, we aim to evaluate gender differences in self-concept, subjective value, expectations and academic performance, to analyze the relationships between the variables, and to understand their role in explaining performance in language and mathematics. The results show that girls have higher performance expectations in mathematics and language, as well as higher performance in language than boys. The sample consisted of 762 Mexican adults with an average age of 44.96 years, of which 70.3% reported not suffering from any disease. Unibertsitatea, Vizcaya España Ehu, Inge Axpe Sáez, Igor Esnaola, Gipuzkoa España Ehu","doi":"10.14349/sumapsi.2020.v27.n1.3","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.14349/sumapsi.2020.v27.n1.3","url":null,"abstract":"Through this study we seek to analyze the predictive capacity of emotional intelligence measured, both from a model of skills (attention, clarity and emotional repair) and a mixed model (intrapersonal, interpersonal, stress management and adaptability), on each of the sources of perceived social support (family, friends and significant people), according to sex and age. The sample consisted of 1030 secondary school students aged between 11 and 19 years living in the Dominican Republic. The results indicate that emotional intelligence predicts the perception of social support in the samples of both sexes, even though in the female sample the explanatory effect is greater than in the males. It is also observed that the predictive capacity is greater in middle adolescence. These data reinforce the need to develop emotional intelligence. © 2020 Fundación Universitaria Konrad Lorenz.
