In this work we investigated interference from user equipment (UE) to physical control channels between the two systems: LTE-FDD and TD-LTE. The results show that if the base stations of LTE-FDD and TD-LTE are placed together and they use the adjacent carriers, some of the physical control channels will experience severe adjacent channel interference and therefore unable to be demodulated correctly. We also reached the results of the interference severity of different physical control channels under different adjacent channel interference ratio (ACIR) offset value.","PeriodicalId":388486,"journal":{"name":"The International Conference on Information Networking 2014 (ICOIN2014)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123107975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the use of shared medium, when an user makes an intensive use of the medium while a different user conducts a more intermittent activity, the later will be severely hampered in its network usage. Modern Access Points (APs) try to deal with this problem by implementing basic Quality Of Service (QoS) mechanisms that strive to share available capacity equally among the connected stations. The fairness of such solutions is limited, as knowledge of previous interactions is not kept: e.g. an user who previously downloaded a large amount of data will be granted the same share of bandwidth as another user who has not downloaded a single byte. FairWLAN is a centralized QoS management system. It obtains performance and historical traffic statistics from each AP for each station associated. Such information is used to configure the QoS mechanisms in the upstream router. FairWLAN provides fair sharing of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) capacity over extended periods of time. In this paper we present an experimental validation and evaluation of FairWLAN using a large campus WLAN and a small testbed.","PeriodicalId":388486,"journal":{"name":"The International Conference on Information Networking 2014 (ICOIN2014)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117119867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It allows applications to share computing, memory, storage, and network resources. However, physical resources are not standalone and the server infrastructure is not homogeneous. The CPU cores are commonly connected to the shared memory, caches, and computational units. As a result, the performance of cloud applications can be greatly affected if, while being executed at different computing cores, they compete for the same shared cache or network resource. The performance degradation can be as high as 50%. In this work we present a methodology which predicts the performance problems of cloud applications during their concurrent execution by looking at the hardware performance counters collected during their standalone execution. The proposed methodology fosters design of novel solutions for efficient resource allocation and scheduling.","PeriodicalId":388486,"journal":{"name":"The International Conference on Information Networking 2014 (ICOIN2014)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128541815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve power efficiency at the power amplifier on the transmitter side, this paper considers MIMO constant envelope modulation (CEM) transceiver. On the other hand, the resolution of A/D converter (ADC) affects hardware complexity on MIMO receiver circuits. Although analog hardware complexity on MIMO receiver circuits can be reduced by decreasing the resolution of ADC, it causes severe ADC nonlinearity which affects achievable performance, i.e., there a trade-off between hardware complexity and non-linearity on ADC circuits for MIMO receiver. The objective of this paper is to investigate the influence of ADC nonlinearity on achievable performance in MIMO differential encoded Gaussian minimum shift keying (D-GMSK) systems using a reduced-state modified maximum sequence estimation (MLSE) equalization. In the MLSE equalization for D-GMSK systems, the influence of ADC nonlinearity is mitigated by approximating the received signal in presence of quantization error. Computer simulation results show that the MLSE equalization scheme approximating the influence of ADC nonlinearity improves BER performance of MIMO and SISO D-GMSK systems using a low resolution ADC compared to cases without using the above approximation in multi-path Rayleigh fading conditions.","PeriodicalId":388486,"journal":{"name":"The International Conference on Information Networking 2014 (ICOIN2014)","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129896012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents an improved virtual machine (VM) placement mechanism, called Energy efficiency and Quality of Service (QoS) aware VM Placement (EQVMP) to overcome the problem of unbalanced traffic load in switching on and off VMs for the purpose of energy saving. EQVMP combines three key techniques: (1) hop reduction, (2) energy saving and (3) load balancing. Hop reduction can regroup VMs to lower the traffic load among them. Energy saving techniques aim at choosing the appropriate servers. The proposed load balancing updates VM placement periodically. Our experimental results show that the proposed scheme can lower energy consumption and maintain QoS. We propose an evaluation score [1] to assess VM placement in terms of energy, delay and throughput. Comparing to other existing placement policies, our proposed mechanism can enhance system throughput by 25% and can have better evaluation score.","PeriodicalId":388486,"journal":{"name":"The International Conference on Information Networking 2014 (ICOIN2014)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130348704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To bridging content and IP, lots of augmented technologies, such as DHT, tracker, DNS, search engines, and so on, are required. This paper attempts to shifts routing from host-centric to content-centric to meet the current dominating applications and also improve the performance of content retrieval and dissemination for mobile Ad Hoc Networks. We utilize the identifier guided routing concept to reduce router overheads and enhance the efficiency of routers. Moreover, the semantic of an ID is no longer restricted to a host and its location; rich meanings such as person, thing, host, content etc. are able to give instead. The proposed routing, denoted as Rich Semantic Content-oriented Routing (RSCR), builds routes by rendezvousing of proactive content table dissemination and on-demand route discovery. The RSCR is a light-loaded and scalable routing protocol by utilizing local, aggregated and control-loaded broadcasting for content table dissemination. Simulation results reveal that the distribution costs are significantly reduced and the routing performance in terms of throughput, end-to-end delay, route length, route successful connecting ratio, route discovery delay, and costs are improved.","PeriodicalId":388486,"journal":{"name":"The International Conference on Information Networking 2014 (ICOIN2014)","volume":"269 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116247435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we try to use the Shannon entropy analysis to detect these attacks. Our approach examines web access logging text using the principle that web attacking scripts usually have more sophisticated request patterns than legitimate ones. Risk level of attacking incidents are indicated by the average (AVG) and standard deviation (SD) of each entropy period, i.e., Alpha and Beta lines which are equal to AVG-SD and AVG-2*SD, respectively. They represent boundaries in detection scheme. As the result, our technique is not only used as high accurate procedure to investigate web request anomaly behaviors, but also useful to prune huge application access log files and focus on potential intrusive events. Uplink CoMP is implemented at the eNodeB side with no requirement on terminals or protocols and thus is easy be introduced in the current network. This paper introduces LTE uplink CoMP principles, use cases and recent field trial results in the TD-LTE networks. The field trial results showed that when there is no interference, uplink CoMP gain at the cell border is 20~40%, the lower working point, the larger improvement.
