It indicates how effectively the real power of the system has been utilized. In any electrical power system, a load with a low power factor draws more current than a high power factor load, for the same amount of useful power transferred. The most popular topology in Power Factor Correction (PFC) applications is certainly the boost topology. The boost topology is very simple and allows low-distorted input currents and almost unity power factor with different control techniques. A new fuzzy logic control strategy in a boost converter based PFC method for single phase rectifier is presented in this work. The proposed fuzzy logic control system has two inputs and one output. The proposed PFC control is based on boost converter operating at continuous conduction mode and provides a higher switching frequency.","PeriodicalId":388270,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Computational Systems and Communications (ICCSC)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116770138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing physical-layer rateless coding methods have many drawbacks like high error floor especially at low SNRs due to the dependency of check node degree distributions on the channel conditions to achieve the near capacity performance. Here a Ball-into-Bin rateless code is used to reduce high error floor at low SNRs thereby trying to achieve an equal degree for both the systematic symbols and encoded symbols. An Incremental Partial Decoding algorithm is used for decoding that tries to recover the messages from limited or insufficient number of coded symbols. Simulation results shows that the partial decoding algorithm gives better performance in terms of bit error rate and overhead.","PeriodicalId":388270,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Computational Systems and Communications (ICCSC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126038618","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a CR, the most challenging operation is to detect the presence of any unutilized frequencies (White Spaces) in the spectrum by using the appropriate Spectrum Sensing Technique. The choice of Spectrum Sensing Technique is an important factor which determines the performance of a CR. In this paper, the performance evaluation of various centralized and decentralized Cooperative spectrum sensing techniques with variation in SNR and Noise Uncertainty (NU) is performed. Necessary steps involved depends on the nature input data. This paper focuses on pre-processing steps such as face registration and facial feature localization for facial depth data. Face registration algorithm is based on conventional ICP algorithm. Doing ICP with selected facial points can improve its efficiency. So corner points from 3D faces are considered for ICP to obtain registration parameters. Eye corner localization is based on the curvature analysis and nose tip detection is based on the principle that it is having highest depth value among all other facial components. Experiments are done with two different databases, low quality depth data from RGB-D FACE database and better quality FRAV3D.","PeriodicalId":388270,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Computational Systems and Communications (ICCSC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126617424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a cost effective full duplex RoF transport system with remodulation using Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) is proposed. The system is capable of delivering a data rate up to 1 Gbps per cell. Since this proposed system uses only one continuous wave (CW) laser source for both uplink and downlink transmission, it simplifies the base station design and reduces overall system cost. Bit error rate (BER) for QAM, QPSK and BPSK modulation schemes are analysed and its comparison is presented. Good transmission performances estimated by BER and eye diagram are obtained in this proposed system. Using Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) further improves the system performance.","PeriodicalId":388270,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Computational Systems and Communications (ICCSC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130354992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A different CFO value is experienced by each user data and each of these CFO values needs to be estimated and corrected. A novel Extended Viterbi-and-Viterbi (EVAV) algorithm is employed for CFO estimation in the present study. A conventional algorithm for CFO compensation that deals with Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) filter output, involves inversion of interference matrix, adding to the computational complexity. The complexity was found to increase with the number of subcarriers. Hence, here an iterative Conjugate Gradient (CG) method is used to compute the MMSE filter output without an inverse operation, thereby reducing the complexity. Both the EVAV method and the CG method have been analyzed in terms of various performance measures. The results showed that they function better than their conventional counterparts.","PeriodicalId":388270,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Computational Systems and Communications (ICCSC)","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123832248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers are trying to improve the performance of MC CDMA system by mitigating its demerits. As it is a combination of CDMA and OFDM, it consist of a large number of independent subcarriers. The amplitude of such a signal can have high peak values. One of the main fundamental drawbacks of MC CDMA systems is its high peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR). This paper presents a PAPR Reduction method for MC CDMA system with various Pulse Shaping Functions. The pulse shapes like Raised cosine pulse (RC) and Improved sine power pulse (ISP) are used for pulse shaping the MC CDMA system. The results like bit error rate (BER) performance and PAPR of the MC CDMA system with and without pulse shaping indicates that the MC CDMA system with pulse shaping is better than the normal MC CDMA system and the pulse shaping with ISP is better compared to raised cosine pulse. Simulations are done using MATLAB version R2010a.","PeriodicalId":388270,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Computational Systems and Communications (ICCSC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132842016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
