Abstract
The wireless network based on radio-over-fiber (RoF) technology is a very beneficial solution in order to meet the ever increasing demand for larger transmission bandwidth. In this paper, a cost effective full duplex RoF transport system with remodulation using Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) is proposed. The system is capable of delivering a data rate up to 1 Gbps per cell. Since this proposed system uses only one continuous wave (CW) laser source for both uplink and downlink transmission, it simplifies the base station design and reduces overall system cost. Bit error rate (BER) for QAM, QPSK and BPSK modulation schemes are analysed and its comparison is presented. Good transmission performances estimated by BER and eye diagram are obtained in this proposed system. Using Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) further improves the system performance.
