The system uses GPS (Global Positioning System) for time and frequency calibration. The system uses a newly designed LDPC as error correction, an efficient pi/2 shift BPSK modulation and linear chirp modulation for spectrum spreading. In this system, the transmission channel is estimated using evenly-distributed sync symbols and the channel deterioration is corrected. Together with these technologies, we have experimentally confirmed that the system exhibits -144 dBm of sensitivity. We also confirmed that it could achieve long-range communication in an urban environment. Another experiment shows that signals from a fast moving object can also be decoded.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128475028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the issue of uncertainty in information has been studied for several decades, little work has investigated how noisy (or uncertain) or valuable (or credible) information can be formulated into people's opinions, modeling uncertainty both in the quantity and quality of evidence leading to a specific opinion. In this work, we model and analyze an opinion and information model by using Subjective Logic where the initial set of evidence is mixed with different types of evidence (i.e., pro vs. con or noisy vs. valuable) which is incorporated into the opinions of original propagators, who propagate information over a network. With the help of an extensive simulation study, we examine how the different ratios of information types or agents' prior belief or topic competence affect the overall information diffusion. Based on our findings, agents' high uncertainty is not necessarily always bad in making a right decision as long as they are competent enough not to be at least biased towards false information (e.g., neutral between two extremes).","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"224 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131049019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike existing Blockchain schemes, our access model can authorise different levels of granularity of authorisation, whilst maintaining compatibility with the underlying Blockchain data structure. Furthermore, the authorisation, encryption, and decryption algorithms proposed in the GAA-FQ scheme dispense with the need to use a public key infrastructure (PKI) and hence improve the computation performance needed to support more granular and distributed, yet authorised, EMR data queries. We validated the computation performance and transmission efficiency for GAA-FQ using a simulation of GAA-FQ against an access control scheme for EMRs called ESPAC as our baseline that was not designed using a Blockchain. To the best of our knowledge, GAA- FQ is the first Blockchain-oriented access authorisation scheme with granular access control, supporting flexible data queries, that has been proposed for secure EMR information management.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130545627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This can lead to serious user request conflicts and considerably degrade the QoS (quality of service) of the system. Since those selfish users have no incentive to cooperate in a one-shot resource request, in this paper we construct a cooperation mechanism to maximize users' payoffs and meanwhile to reduce the conflict relying on a repeated game framework. Moreover, an efficient punishment and forgiveness strategy is proposed to prevent any user from breaking the cooperation. Simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the system's operation performance. Compared with the payoffs under the Nash equilibrium in the one-shot game which is the traditional scheme, our repeated ILAB resource allocation game can acquire 1.36 to 3.46 times gain in respect to 2 to 10 users, respectively.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131966234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work addresses the challenges that raise in exploiting the potential of WiFi WLAN-sharing technology in 5G Ultra-Dense Networking (UDN) use cases. We investigate new complementary aspects of emerging 5G technologies such as Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Fog computing to design a unique WiFi WLAN-sharing ecosystem to allow complying with 5G UDN critical requirements. In the resulting approach, we empower WiFi WLAN-sharing infrastructures with Fog computing capabilities and follow a slice-defined approach, aiming to provide differentiated services at unprecedented levels, on top of the same infrastructure through customized, isolated and independent building blocks. The solution also enables slices to accommodate applications besides networking functions, seeking to provide ultra-low latency rates by leveraging direct linkage to data producer entities. A proof of concept was conducted by carrying out experiments in a real laboratory testbed, allowing insights into the feasibility and suitability of slicing WiFi WLAN-sharing systems.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130933333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While most hybrid beamforming techniques consider a fully-connected structure with a large number of phase shifters (PSs), the partially-connected structure has drawn more attention recently since it requires much less PSs and can further improve energy-efficiency. However, the impractical assumption of infinite or high resolution of PSs in existing solutions frustrates the real-world deployment of hybrid beamforming designs, and low- resolution PSs are typically adopted to reduce the hardware complexity and power consumption. In an effort to achieve maximum hardware efficiency, this paper focuses on the partially-connected architecture with one-bit (binary) PSs and considers the problem of joint hybrid precoder and combiner design for such mmWave MIMO systems. We propose to successively design the analog beamformers associated with each pair of sub- array, aiming at conditionally maximizing the spectral efficiency. A novel binary analog precoder and combiner optimization algorithm is proposed under a rank-1 approximation of the interference-included equivalent channel with polynomial complexity in the number of antennas. Then, the digital precoder and combiner are computed based on the obtained effective baseband channel to further enhance the spectral efficiency. Simulation results demonstrate the advantages of proposed hardware-efficiency hybrid precoder and combiner design.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130935791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the eavesdropping relays simultaneously listen to the suspicious transmitter and forward the eavesdropped information to the central monitor. At the same time, the jammer broadcasts the jamming signal to maintain the suspicious data rate below the channel capacity of the central monitor so that the eavesdropped information can be successfully decoded by the central monitor. In this system, we jointly design the relay precoders at the eavesdropping relays and the transmit covariance matrix at the jammer to maximize the eavesdropping rate by a two-layer semi-definite relaxation approach. Simulation results verify the efficiency of our proposed solution and show considerable performance gains over conventional schemes.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130967228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two conditions are used to obtain an equivalent channel matrix that is free of intersymbol interference. These conditions allows the system to achieve the maximum diversity order at a full rate in frequency selective fading channels. A given number of CDD transmitters is obtained from the set of cooperative transmitters in the system and is shown to be determined by the symbol block size and the maximum time dispersion of the channel. A new expression for the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived by using order statistics. To estimate the achievable maximum diversity gain provided by the distributed CDD scheme, we employ asymptotic analysis in the high SNR regime. From the analytical framework, it is shown that the maximum diversity is achieved even for non-identical frequency selective fading channels. Link-level simulations are conducted to verify the maximum achievable diversity gain.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125466020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we experimentally validate the feasibility of wheat moisture detection by using CSI amplitude and phase difference data. We then design Wi-Wheat system, where data preprocessing, feature extraction and support vector machine (SVM) classification are implemented for CSI processing module. For data preprocessing, we employ outlier detection, data normalization and eliminating noise for obtaining clear CSI amplitude and phase difference data. Then, we consider principal component analysis (PCA) based feature extraction for Wi-Wheat system. For SVM classification, Gaussian radial basis function (RBF) is used as the kernel function for wheat moisture detection. The experimental results show the Wi-Wheat system can achieve higher classification accuracy for LOS and NLOS scenarios.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"1993 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125533759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To ensure fair coexistence among unlicensed users, two Load Based Equipment (LBE) access technologies are introduced in European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) standard. However, it is not clear whether the two LBE protocols can ensure fair channel access between unlicensed Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) and Wi-Fi users. To this end, renewal theory based analytical models are developed to study the performance of these two LBE random access protocols. Specifically, the throughput performance of Wi-Fi users and LAA users is first derived and compared. Our results show that both options may not achieve throughput fairness among Wi-Fi and LAA users if the key protocol parameters are not fine tuned. Generally option A favors Wi-Fi users, while option B favors LAA users. To improve the fairness performance, channel access parameters in both protocols should be adapted to network conditions in order to achieve the best coexisting performance in terms of both fairness and network throughput. The analysis provides important guidance for the implementation of Listen-before-Talk based access mechanisms in LAA. Extensive simulations using NS-3 are conducted to validate the accuracy of the models.","PeriodicalId":387855,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126853343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
