Experimental studies of thin-walled aircraft structures 薄壁飞机结构试验研究

Smusz, Grzegorz Szeliga","doi":"10.17814/mechanik.2022.10.16","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17814/mechanik.2022.10.16","url":null,"abstract":"Contemporary aircraft structures, and especially their load-bearing structures, are made almost exclusively as thin-walled structures, which perfectly meet the postulate of minimizing the weight of the structure. While local loss of roofing stability is acceptable under operational load conditions, exceeding the critical load limits of structural elements (frames, stringers) is practically tantamount to the destruction of the structure. The effectiveness of these ideas is influenced by the development of science about materials, processing, and machining processes, as well as the continuous improvement of technological processes. These disciplines allow for the construction of complex, geometrically integral structures that create opportunities not only for a more rational use of material characteristics, but also by their appropriate shaping, significantly increasing the mechanical properties of the supporting structure. The most important advantage in favor of the use of integral systems is economic efficiency, gained by eliminating or limiting assembly operations. Densely ribbed roofing elements belong to the category of load-bearing structure elements which, by reducing the weight which they must support, increase the strength parameters of the load-bearing structure. By reducing the thickness of the coating and, at the same time, introducing sufficiently dense stiffening longitudinal elements, it is possible to obtain a structure with significantly higher critical load values, and consequently a more favorable distribution of gradients and stress levels, which translates directly to an increase in fatigue life. The use of new technologies requires research for evidence purposes, showing that structures manufactured in this way are as safe as those manufactured using conventional methods. For this purpose, the authors conducted tests of the selected structure and performed FEM and experimental verification on the test stand. It is a method that allows for the replacement of energy-consuming technologies used in the preparation of semi-finished products (e.g. castings) with a universal technology that is much cheaper at the part production stage including the selection of a semi-finished product. This method is widely used in many areas of the machining industry, including increasingly bold applications in the automotive industry. A wide area of utilization of HSC technology is finishing, where high cutting speeds are used. In the case of shaping machining, where the decisive factor is the cutting efficiency, one must take into account the demand for high power of the main drive, which is not always available for every machine tool. Smusz","doi":"10.17814/mechanik.2022.8-9.12","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17814/mechanik.2022.8-9.12","url":null,"abstract":"Leading European manufacturers of profiles intended for the production of construction joinery currently use mainly PVC profiles with various configurations of external and internal shapes, allowing the production of functional products due to their intended use, shape, possibility of building them, maintaining color and maintaining low thermal transmittance coefficients of profiles. It is important to obtain high cross-sectional strengths, especially for torsion and bending. It is related to high wind loads of structures. A profile is made of a PVC with a low Young’s modulus compared to other materials, and thus it has low stiffness and strength indicators. This leads to relatively easy deformation of the joinery profiles during assembly. To avoid this unfavorable effect, the PVC profiles are reinforced with steel sections. Currently, in the industry producing PVC profiles, open steel reinforcement profiles are almost exclusively used. This solution is very disadvantageous for reasons of stiffness. However, manufacturers use such profiles primarily for technological and price reasons. Closed profiles pose many technological problems in their production and are approx. 30% more expensive compared to the corresponding open profiles. This paper presents research on the use of closed steel stiffening sections in place of open profiles. The main advantage of stiffening closed profiles is many times greater bending and torsional stiffness compared to open profiles. The efficiency of the machining process is also a crucial factor, allowing it to compete with other manufacturing technologies. The achievement of these effects consists of many factors related to the machining process: machine tools and their rigidity, machining parameters, type of processed materials, as well as machining tools.
