Elderly with mild functional decline and impaired activity can improve functional status by reducing joint pain during activity and prevent the joint inflammation process becomes more severe, can be used method of joint body movement that needed. This study was aimed to determine the effect of rheumatic callisthenic on the functional status of elderly with a history of joint pain. This study utilized a pretest-posttest with control group design. The sample involved 40 elderly for each group who were assigned by purposive sampling method. Data analyses used the paired and two sample t test with α = 0,05. The result of the study showed there was significant differences in the BADL values of respondents in treatment group before and after doing rheumatic callisthenic (t(40)=6,904, P=0,001) and in the IADL values as well (t(40)=4,281, P=0,001). At analysis showed there was differences in the BADL (F=76,583, P=0.001) and IADL values(F=19,004, P=0,001) between treatment group and control group. Conclusion: There is positive effect of rheumatic calisthenics on functional status of elderly with joint pain in conducting Activity Daily Living (ADL).","PeriodicalId":386583,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Health Sciences (ICHS 2018)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130625708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The principles of occupational health and safety have to be applied to achieve the optimal productivity. The management of potential hazard and risks needs to be conducted like the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the workers. This research aims to find out the influencing factors on the use of PPE to the workers of metal manufacturing industry. The research used a qualitative research with a case study design. The data collection was performed by deep interviewing both main and second informants. The data analysis used in this research was interactive data analysis. The research validity applied source and data/analysis triangulation. The research results showed that there were occupational hazard like danger of heat, electricity, sparks, iron powder, iron shavings, and noise; while the workers knowledge of PPE were PPE could reduce risk, avoid work accident, protect the workers, keep their health and safety. Some PPEs used by the workers were glasses, mask, hand protectors, chest protectors, hand gloves and ear plug. To sum up, the knowledge related to occupational hazard and PPE could have some effects on the use of PPE to the workers of metal manufacturing industry. To minimize the risk of infection in hospitals, it is necessary to apply the standard precautions. One of which is cough etiquette.This study is aimed to find out the effectiveness of knowledge regarding cough etiquette modules to increase knowledge and attitude of cough etiquette on paramedics in hospitals.This study is a quasi-experiment with pretest and post-test control group designs. To explore the knowledge of cough etiquette, this sample study used purposive sampling technique with 65 respondents in the treatment group and 62 respondents in the control group. The data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon and Independent Sample T Test. The data were collected using questionnaires.To explore the attitude of cough etiquette, this sample study used purposive sampling technique with 59 respondents in the treatment group and 40 respondents in the control group. The data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon and Independent Sample T Test. The data were collected using questionnaires.The result of this study shows that in the control group, the value of knowledge is p = 0,001 (p < 0, 05). In the treatment group, the value of knowledge is p = 0,001(p < 0, 05). The result in the treatment group and in the control group shows that there is no significant difference between the control and treatment group. The result of this study shows that the value of attitude in the control group is p = 0,014 (p < 0,05), there is a decrease in the post-test compared to the pre-test. In the treatment group, the value of attitude is p = 0,195, there is an increase in the post-test compared to the pre-test, but it is not significant.
