Introducing an appropriate operating strategy for such a technology could increase its benefits. A model of a μCHP system, from the authors' previous work, has been improved and used to evaluate alternative operating strategies for μCHP units in residential buildings in terms of annual cumulative operation costs and CO2 emissions. It also identifies the challenges that require the introduction of Smart Grid, the investigation of the life cycle cost/benefits, the analysis of Smart Grid deployments and finally, to define the road map of Smart Grid and the pillars to achieve the required smartness. The deliverable of this study addresses the future technology of Smart Grid in terms of road map, action plan, and recommendations to achieve Smart Grid objectives. This model is based on direct phase quantities and is suitable to study the performance of the generator under any balanced or unbalanced conditions. It includes a general load as well as general excitation capacitor model. The model has the advantage of connecting or disconnecting the neutral points of the generator electrical system with both excitation capacitors and load. Furthermore, a more accurate magnetization curve is used. As the performance of any PV module depends on various environmental factors, especially on solar irradiation and temperature, the paper analyzes one year solar irradiation data in Saudi Arabia, studies the performance parameters of PV cell for different location. Here, to study the performance parameter a typical PV module MSX60 60W array is used, which can be installed on the rooftop or on vast desert areas. The system's mathematical model is developed in MATLAB. The analytical results of this paper help to understand the effects of variation of solar irradiation on PV cell inside the Saudi Arabia. Total annual available solar radiation is calculated at 1,970 kWhr. The size of the proposed solar thermal power plant is 50 MW. The designed solar field is composed of 100 loops with a total footprint area at 0.864 km2, where each loop contains four solar collectors of ET150 Euro trough type. Heat transfer fluid flows in the collector field absorbers and exchanges heat in steam generator, which passes produced steam to Rankine cycle steam turbine for power generation. The study predicts total annual power generation capacity at 86.5 GWhr with capacity factor at 39% and an overall efficiency at 23.2%. In this paper, a ZV-ZCS full-bridge phase-shift PWM dc-dc converter is being proposed for photovoltaic cell applications. The proposed converter operates at high switching frequency with high efficiency and large power to volume ratio. A laboratory prototype model of the proposed converter has been designed and fabricated for charging a 48 V battery bank for telecommunication applications from a solar panel with 110V open circuit voltage. The system contains a group motor-generator that uses a static power converter controlled with the interface board and the modular system dSpace, for a power of almost 7 kW and can be used in modern power systems — including those for the electric driving of urban vehicles. The system's main components are presented: the power schematic, the interface board, the dSpace modular system. The interface board and the dSpace modular system were designed, realized and tested in laboratory. Experimental tests were performed for various operating conditions and operating regimes of the entire system. One presents the waveforms for three categories of currents: (a) injected by the inverter in the power system; (b) absorbed by the non-linear load; (c) generated by the supplying network. This procedure is useful for both the consumers and system operator (SO) and improves market efficiency by providing the opportunity for consumers to change the market clearing price (MCP) in peak hours. For our purpose, a proposed model has been developed for optimizing the load change bids in demand side. market clearing price is then determined from SO point of view considering the demand side bidding. In this paper the economics of the proposed process for demand bidding has been analyzed from both demand side and system operator point of view. Finally, the proposed model has been applied on CIGRE 32-bus test system. Different materials such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been synthesised and studied to improve fuel cell performance. The utilization of CNTs properties on Pt catalyst and Nafion membrane promises the state of the art PEMFC. This project is founded by the government and aims to increase utilization of potential for small, local hydro power generation. The hardware setup consists of a newly designed cross flow type hydro turbine, two different generators (asynchronous and synchronous up to 20 kW power range) and all equipment necessary for grid connected operation and islanding. The setup can be used for two purposes: primarily performance tests of newly designed micro hydro turbines, and research and development studies to provide new regulations and technical guidelines regarding to energy management and grid connected and island (stand-alone) operation which concern for distributed generation versatility.
