During the last years, a lot of technologies and optimization methodologies were developed to increase the efficiency, maintain the grid stability and support large scale introduction of renewable sources. In previous work, we showed the effectiveness of our three-step methodology to reach these objective, consisting of 1) offline prediction, 2) offline planning and 3) online scheduling. Although initial results are promising, one of the problems of the current implementation is the inability to work around prediction errors in the last step. Therefore, we added Model Predictive Control to step three to incorporate future states in the control to work around prediction errors. Two coupled ANFs are used to generate the reference waveforms for shunt and series components of UPQC. Mathematical properties of proposed algorithm are presented in detail. The technique is simple and its speed and accuracy are controllable. Moreover, robustness against internal parameter variations is a feature of this method. This method of reactive power pricing is based on marginal costs theory. Effective factors on marginal costs of buses are: capital costs of generators, operating costs, and the costs of reactive power losses. Due to considering the entire costs of reactive power production, this method will be incentive for producers to participate in reactive power production. A Reactive Optimal Power Flow (ROPF) is developed to solve this problem using the nonlinear programming method. The residential area of Seeb (Muscat-Oman) was investigated as a case study. The constraint of the roof optimization for the optimal design of solar photovoltaic fields consisting of multiple rows was analyzed and the optimal area of deployment of PV collectors was calculated taking into account orientation, shading and masking of adjacent rows. A MATLAB program was developed in order to estimate the total roof-PV power capacity and total annual energy generation. The program takes into account the different factors that affect the efficiency of the PV. The carbon tax is levied on the basis of the “polluter pays principle” (PPP) and the “user pays principle” (UPP). The double-dividend effect of recycling the revenue from the carbon tax for a reduction of the residence tax (RT) and the payroll tax (PT) on employers for social security is examined. In all cases, while no strong double dividend effect is found, employment double dividend occurs in PT cases. The problem is formulated as a Linear Programming (LP) model with two objectives: minimizing total cost and minimizing total CO2 emissions, while capping the Expected Unserved Energy (EUE). Total emissions include, in addition to the direct emissions from burning fossil fuel, the embedded emissions of all system components, obtained using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) techniques. The proposed approach is applied on a case study which entails designing a HPS for a city of 50,000 residents. Model inputs were extracted from real environmental and technical data. The results obtained were used to construct the Pareto front, representing the best trade-off between cost and emissions under different reliability conditions. First, the energy consumption data of an elevator is analyzed and the energy consumption model is constructed. Then, a multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is developed for the elevator control. In this algorithm, the energy conservation and the acceptable levels of waiting time are considered simultaneously. In addition, a simulation platform is developed which can be used to demonstrate the scheduling process and the optimization result and derive the real-time data of energy and time consumption. Using this platform, a four-elevator and ten-floor building is constructed and the effectiveness of the new developed MOGA algorithm is tested. It was designed using the fundamental procedures of data analysis and exploration: recognizing atypical elements (outliers), clustering, and classification, based on the nonparametric methodology of kernel estimators. Employing a homogenous mathematical apparatus for all three of the above tasks significantly facilitates practical implementation. The formula for the proposed concept is universal in character, and the investigated system can be applied in a wide range of tasks, particularly in engineering and management. Experimental tests showed its effectiveness in identifying abrupt as well as slowly progressing anomalies. Based on that, a general strategy for selecting the type of power plant, fuel that fit with the geographical situation in the Middle East is presented. Results taken from this scientific study shows that using natural gas to generate power in the region should be a priority. As well as expected, the value of various emission factors decrease by increasing power produce. These wind and PV power systems are installed in the campus of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The annual energy yields from standalone wind and solar PV power plants each of 6kW installed capacity were found to be 8,000 kWh and 10,364 kWh with respective capacity factors of 14.3% and 19.7%.
