An image processing algorithm is developed to achieve accurate detection and size measurement for studying oil spill cases. This study demonstrates the required setups and adjustments performed to mimic this process on a smaller scale, in a lab-based experiment. The proposed emulated system generates the required path for the quadrotor, used in this experiment, to maneuver around the arena and detect the oil spill. The drone successfully detected and accurately provided the location of the oil spot for several trails. For these attempts, the areas of the detected oil were calculated and compared. Some discussions were stated regarding some findings and exceptional cases. In general, the results attest to the efficacy of the proposed system.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117000366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The applied methodology consists of the design of three-wheel models, rim design, material selection, stress analysis, and simulation, through the use of Inventor professional version 2022 software. During the simulation, a comparison of the material deformation behavior of the models A, B, and C was made. Finally, model C was chosen due to its characteristics of good deformation resistance and low weight, which allow it to meet the requirements of Nasa Human Rover Exploration Challenge (HERC) academic competition.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117189039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The work examined the effect of KOH concentration, applied voltage, electrode plate thickness, and electrode spacing. The results show that as the concentration of KOH increases from 1 g/L to 6 g/L, the efficiency increases from 47% to 57%. The results also show an optimal operating supply voltage of between 2.2 and 2.4 Volts. In addition, the results show that increasing the distance between the electrodes decreases both the efficiency and HHO generation.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117128653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, solar chimney is considered a promising technology falling under the umbrella of solar energy systems for the purpose of generating electricity. In this study, a theoretical investigation into the design of collector and chimney besides the influences of some operating parameters, would be addressed for one solar chimney power plant (SCPP). This investigation mainly focuses on making thermal and dimensional analyses aiming particularly at improving SCPP performance. The theoretical findings were compared with real-world experimental results of Manzanares SCPP existing in Spain. The obtained results have shown a good agreement compared with experimental ones, which give a theoretical basis for effective design of SCPP. This work introduces a design roadmap for one solar chimney under given geometrical and operating parameters.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131192715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structural damping is expected using Kelvin-Voigt theory. The microbeam is placed on the viscoelastic foundation with spring, shear and damper constants. The size influences are expected based on the couple stress theory with one length scale material factor. The Timoshenko theory for microbeam is employed for the governing final equation on the basis of Hamilton’s principle. The final motion couled equations are attained by differential quadrature method (DQM) for calculating the dynamic stability area. The influences of various components of FG index, porosity, geometric and structural components for the microbeam on the dynamic response of the structure are exposed. It is obvious that with enhancing the porosity value, the dynamic instabillity region (DIR) shifts to higher frequencies.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117285486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Of particular interest is the simulation of the contact line profiles for moving liquid drops of varying physical properties, such as liquid surface tension and substrate wettability. The Lagrangian Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) numerical approach is adopted for predicting the footprint profiles of moving liquid drops. The Lagrangian PFEM is advantageous due to its ability to provide an accurate mesh-based boundary description, and thus, facilitates the computation of the freesurface and footprint evolution. The modeling outcomes agree with the general experimental behavior for different dropsubstrate pairs with widely differing properties.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126752662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These dynamic loads such as wind, rain, snow, base excitation, transportation and much more causes vibrations in the PV modules and deteriorate their performance. Among the various dynamic loads, Base Excitation is one of the major cause for induced vibration in PV modules. Vibration amplitude and frequency were preciously recorded at the base/mounting of PV module in the vicinity of Metro Rail. From the vibration reading it was observed that the peak frequency levels fall in 30-80 Hz range. Therefore, for harmonic response analysis of PV module it was necessary to build a shaker table which will provide the required base excitation for analysis. This paper deals with design, modelling, assembly and finite element modal and harmonic analysis of shaker table. Shaker table is divided in basic four parts, 1) base, 2) spring support, 3) electric motor with unbalanced mass and 4) mounting structure for PV module mounting. Variable speed electric motor is attached with a disc with different holes at varying distance from the center of the shaft, so as to provide multiple types of harmonic forces and frequencies. Before manufacturing, modal and harmonic analysis is performed on the shaker table plus PV module assembly in ANSYS to check whether the systems natural frequency comes near to only PV modules modal frequency range. It was observed that the shaker table natural frequencies were not in the range of PV module’s natural frequencies. This study will be useful to provide a basis for designing the clamping and mounting arrangements for the PV modules to retard its performance deterioration due to the induced vibrations.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132006214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This protocol is based on DGA (Destination selection according to Genetic Algorithm) to control the movement of the UAV (Unmanned aerial vehicle) between dynamic reference points that virtually represent the sensor node deployment. The dynamics of these points ensure an even distribution of energy consumption among the sensors and also improve network performance. If the remaining mileage is not accurate, electric vehicle drivers will have no choice but have to feel anxious about the mileage. If the remaining mileage to drive is wrong, drivers may not be able to get to the charging station and may not be able to drive because the battery runs out. This study proposes a more advanced model by predicting the remaining mileage based on actual driving data and based on reflecting the pattern of customers who drive regularly. The basic model is a linear regression model, and the advanced model is a Bayesian linear regression model. In order to improve performance, the driver's regular driving pattern is recognized in advance before driving and it is reflected in the remaining driving mileage model. The actual driving log is used for the dataset. It can be seen that the performance of the model in this study is improved 10% better compared to the existing remaining driving mileage.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"608 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116465416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Water is used in an HVAC system's heat-transfer process. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has mandated that HVAC systems must be cleaned twice a year in order to prevent pneumatic infections. In particular, photocatalytic coatings, which are hydrophobic and antibacterial, are used to meet the harsh environment requirements at the microscale. In this study, water cooling tower coating systems were employed to test their efficacy. Stainless steel made up the samples. The samples had chromium oxide (Cr2O3) as the base coating and varying thicknesses of ytterbium oxide (Yb2O3) on top. To guarantee that the samples in the model had enough water around them and the necessary airflow to keep them from always being submerged, samples were placed in a water splash zone. For six months, the samples were left alone. Also, to evaluate the various effects, some samples were left in the shade while others were left in the sun.","PeriodicalId":385901,"journal":{"name":"ICMAME 2023 Conference Proceedings","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123472082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
