Skliar, Tamara Kortukova","doi":"10.29089/2021.21.00195","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29089/2021.21.00195","url":null,"abstract":"Introduction:\u0000The value of human life as a personal intangible good is growing, which has led to international and national legal consolidation of norms providing comprehensive protection of life, while the life of the individual depreciates day by day. All this explains the extraordinary interest in euthanasia, which can be called one of the most controversial and unresolved issues of our time.\u0000\u0000Aim:\u0000The aim of the article is to study the phenomenon of euthanasia, elaborate the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on euthanasia and related rights, develop recommendations on the possibility of legalizing euthanasia in Ukraine.\u0000\u0000Material and methods:\u0000The leading method of research of this issue is comparative and law, which allows to comprehensively consider the right to euthanasia, its positive and negative components and helps to establish trends in the implementation of the outlined phenomenon.\u0000\u0000Results and discussion:\u0000It is concluded that the right to assisted suicide and the right to passive euthanasia can be recognized only as an element of the right to respect for private life in the context of Article 8 of the Convention. Bryniarski","doi":"10.29089/2020.20.00173","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29089/2020.20.00173","url":null,"abstract":"Introduction:\u0000Prostate carcinoma is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer among men, accounting for 14.1% of diagnoses and with a 6.8% mortality rate. Among current treatment options, radical prostatectomy is strongly indicated for localized prostate cancer. Although surgical techniques for radical prostatectomy are constantly being improved in terms of effectiveness and safety, postoperative disorders such as stress urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction, including erectile dysfunction, remain quite common.\u0000\u0000Aim:\u0000The aim of our systematic review is to discuss the prevalence and severity of sexual dysfunction in the population of men suffering from prostate cancer who have been treated by means of radical prostatectomy.\u0000\u0000Material and methods:\u0000For the purposes of this systematic review we undertook a search of the literature in five databases using the English and Polish languages. We have focused on studies which assess sexual dysfunction using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire.\u0000\u0000Results and discussion:\u0000A total of 145 potentially relevant studies was retrieved. After selection, it was determined that 5 studies fulfilled the eligibility criteria and these were selected for qualitative synthesis. Our systematic review supports the finding that impairment of sexual function continues during the first 12 months after radical prostatectomy.\u0000\u0000Conclusions:\u0000Sexual dysfunction is a common complication after radical prostatectomy, and recovery takes at least 12 months. Skorek","doi":"10.29089/2020.20.00161","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29089/2020.20.00161","url":null,"abstract":"Introduction:\u0000Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD), also called histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is a rare disease that occurs with swollen lymph nodes and associated fever. This disease occurs in both children and adults.\u0000\u0000Aim:\u0000The aim of our work was to review the literature and to remind family doctors, otolaryngologists, hematologists and rheumatologists about this rare disease that should be included in the differential diagnosis of long-term cervical lymphadenopathy.\u0000\u0000Material and methods:\u0000Current information on Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease was sought and presented based on literature that was published in reputable magazines in the period 2007–2020 in English. We searched for articles in the Medline, PubMed, and Scopus databases.\u0000\u0000Results and discussion:\u0000KFD occurs in both children and adults. This disease is found all over the world, most often in the Asian population. The etiology of Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease is not entirely known, however, two causal theories are suspected, which are discussed in detail in our article. The course of the disease is mild and usually disappears on its own. A biopsy of an involved lymph node presented as the standard for diagnosis. KFD treatment was causal – nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and/or glucocorticosteroids were used.\u0000\u0000Conclusions:\u0000There are few reports in the literature about Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease. KFD is associated with cervical lymphadenopathy and associated fever. Despite significant improvement in shunt procedure and being a relatively simple procedure, shunt complications remain common.\u0000\u0000Aim:\u0000The aim of this paper is to report a case of perforated bowel presented with silence abdomen following VPS insertion.\u0000\u0000Case study:\u0000We report a case of protrusion of distal VPS catheter through anus with silent abdomen, managed successfully with minimal intervention. Patient, 11-months-old male infant, diagnosed with congenital communicating hydrocephalus and VPS placement was done at 6 months of life, presented with tip of VPS protruding from anus after 4 months of VPS insertion. Patient was scheduled for removal of VPS, where shunt was disconnected through superficial abdominal incision, distal portion removed through anus without resistance. Postoperative patient recovers well without abdominal complication.\u0000\u0000Results and discussion:\u0000Perforation of bowel by distal peritoneal catheter is rare and only accounts for 0.1%–0.7% of complication. The exact pathogenesis for spontaneous bowel perforation is unclear. Management of bowel perforation secondary to VPS is highly individualized, mainly depending on its clinical symptoms and signs.\u0000\u0000Conclusions:\u0000Although bowel perforation following VPS insertion is rare, it carries high mortality up to 15% especially if unrecognized and delayed in treatment. Misconceptions about HIV/AIDS infection can affect the attitudes of healthcare staff and inappropriately affect the quality of care.\u0000\u0000Aim:\u0000The present study aimed to investigate the factors predicting the routine HIV screening behaviors in nurses based on the theory of reasoned action.\u0000\u0000Material and methods:\u0000This descriptive-cross-sectional study was conducted on 131 nurses working in Vali-e-Asr hospital in Fasa, Iran. The samples were selected by simple random method. Three 75-item standard questionnaires were also used to collect data, including 15 questions on attitudes, 30 questions on the nurses’ knowledge, and 30 questions on the nurses’ performance.\u0000\u0000Results and discussion:\u0000In total, 30 male (22.9%) and 101 (77.1%) female nurses entered in the study. Also, 65.6% of participants were 18–29 years and 48.9% (64) were working in emergency department. The mean attitude and knowledge were calculated to be 20.69 ± 3.17 points and 20.98 ± 4.78 points, respectively. Also, the mean of performance, behavioral control, intention, and subjective norms were calculated to be 84.63 ± 8.06 points, 24.56 ± 2.29 points, 63.93 ± 6.68 points, and 30.53 ± 3.27 points, respectively.
