A direct consequence of this situation is the lack of knowledge in the field of inanimate nature among broad sections of the population. For this reason, it is necessary to popularize inanimate nature and thus increase geological and lithogeographical awareness among the inhabitants of our country. One of the ways can be a didactically acceptable processing of geological knowledge, since the sources of geological information are often difficult to understand for the public without a geological education. The main goal of this contribution is to present a simplified geological map of the surroundings of Bratislava including both the Slovak and Austrian parts with a common legend that will be comprehensible even to the lay public. The simplified geological map created by us contains 18 geological units including anthropogenic sediments. It is also possible to show important geological sites. For better visibility, the map was loaded onto a digital model of the relief and then a 3D visualization was created, which can be placed, e.g. to the website. With the help of this visualization, it is possible to e.g. demonstrate the transgression of the sea in past geological times.","PeriodicalId":384501,"journal":{"name":"Geografická Revue","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124446180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In urban areas, there is a greater possibility of transmitting the infection due to the proximity of people and their constant circulation. Therefore, the urban areas are the ones most exposed to the pandemic. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the relationships between urban population density and COVID-19 mortality rates in Serbia. Following that, the pandemic's effect on the rise in fatalities in urban and rural areas was investigated. Comparison methods, cartographic method and descriptive statistics were used. It was determined that the areas with the highest population density have a slightly higher number of deaths. However, in addition to these areas, some other areas in Serbia also have higher mortality rate, which is influenced by the large average age of the population, but also some other factors that require additional and deeper interdisciplinary research.","PeriodicalId":384501,"journal":{"name":"Geografická Revue","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123535160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present study, the spatio-temporal patterns of unsafety perceptions in the town of Želiezovce (Slovakia), a town with less than 7,000 inhabitants, was examined. The study is based on the emotional mapping of 98 young adolescents (between the ages of 10 to 16). Fear-related areas were identified using the kernel density method. The day- and night-time spatio-temporal patterns of perceived threats and fear-related areas were analysed. Regardless of the time of the day, the most frequently mentioned threats perceived by the participants were people-related. The spatial pattern of fear-related areas was not stable in time, with more fear-related areas appearing after dark.","PeriodicalId":384501,"journal":{"name":"Geografická Revue","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114910356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Can we realy expect an exact testimony about the appearance of the depicted area as a whole and of the details? Or does their documentary value lye in something else? A view of all types of “images of the cultural landscape” offers – fist of all – a testimony of the ideal, about how the (cultural) landscape should have looked or at least should have been depicted. Geotourism with its means represents an ideal environment for an effective educational process suitable for the general public. The education process through experience ensures its attractiveness. Experiential education in the field of primary education addresses pupils within their classical educational process and adds added value to this process. The application of outdoor science lessons opens up new possibilities and new ways for both, the student and the teacher. It increases the demand and interest in information and diversifies the learning process by experience. Geoparks currently represent a modern product of geotourism, which offers the satisfaction of several diverse needs in one place - experience, tourism, education, health, ecology, sports, culture, etc. The interplay of all involved components is a prerequisite for the positive impact of the geopark existence. Its educational function is a suitable tool involving the general public in the process of raising general awareness.","PeriodicalId":384501,"journal":{"name":"Geografická Revue","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116663450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thanks to the direct contact of pupils with the country and specific examples of human activity in it, pupils have the opportunity to understand better the interconnectedness of various phenomena and components in the country and build a positive relationship to its natural and social values. Another reason for using field teaching is the possibility of applying interdisciplinary relationships, while on the example of a mining country, it is possible to integrate information, topics and procedures from geography, geology, history and other subjects. The importance of field teaching also lies in the practical use of knowledge and skills pupils have acquired at school. It also gives more space for group work, communication, strengthens social relations. Field teaching of geography at primary and secondary schools has its place also within the current school curriculum. Nevertheless, teachers include this method in the teaching only to a limited extent. The paper presents the mining village of Špania Dolina near Banská Bystrica, its potential in science and social education, and the design and experience with the implementation of field teaching in this village.","PeriodicalId":384501,"journal":{"name":"Geografická Revue","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133198155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The location of the mine is given only by the description “auf der Jeraba” (at Jarabá in the Low Tatras) and the exact whereabouts of the mine was unknown until recently. This article describes the methodology used to locate the adit using other mining maps of this area produced in the 18th century, which depicted some landmarks making geolocation possible – a toponym, segments of some country roads and two other mine entrances. The mining maps were georeferenced using historical geography, field research and a detailed DTM. The correctness of the georeferencing was validated by checking the scale (using the scale bar) and rotation parameters (comparing the magnetic north indications on the maps to the models of the historical magnetic declination). The second part of the paper contains a new interpretation of a unique feature of the Gottes gab map – a survey field book in tabular form, previously analyzed by Bílek (1967). Using statistical analysis we propose the most feasible formula for calculation of the survey line coordinates from the data table. The problems in this reconstruction of the mine survey line are explained using newer, 18th century maps of the same mine.","PeriodicalId":384501,"journal":{"name":"Geografická Revue","volume":"159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122456521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The land users can target appropriate soil protection measures (based on a correct evaluation of the obtained information) to those parts of the territory most significantly affected by erosion-accumulation processes. The USLE erosion prediction model is a suitable tool for evaluating the area from the long-term prediction of water erosion intensity and its area distribution and proposing appropriate anti-erosion measures. Relief, soil erodibility, rainfall erosivity, soil protection effect of vegetation cover, and agro-techniques are the main erosion factors that significantly influence the start and process of erosion-accumulation processes in a given locality. These factors are considered in the model's basic structure. The model has been updated and detailed several times with the aim of a more precise assessment of the territory. An updated digital layer of rainfall erosivity factor (R-factor) generated based on its updated values during its last update was incorporated into its structure. USLE erosion model refinement was achieved based on updating the digital layer of the rainfall erosivity factor (R-factor), which was generated based on its updated values. The results are more informative and precise outputs concerning the intensity of water erosion and its area distribution in specific soil-climatic and geomorphological conditions.","PeriodicalId":384501,"journal":{"name":"Geografická Revue","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123129131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
