The main advantages of CBCT are, its compact size, lower radiation dose, and faster scanning time. Given the increasing availability of CBCT in dental practice and the importance of dental students accessing new technologies, this study assesses knowledge and attitude regarding CBCT among UGs and interns. This was a cross-sectional questionnaire study conducted among the dental undergraduate and interns. Student demographics and data about their knowledge and attitude towards CBCT were collected. The responses obtained were statistically analysed using descriptive statistics and the chi-square test. There were 78% of female participants among fourth year undergraduates and 64 % female participants among interns. (50.8%) of fourth year undergraduate and (71.4%) interns accepted that CBCT is precise than OPG in detecting orofacial pathologies. (45.5%) of fourth year undergraduates and (54.4%) of interns specified that they would use CBCT in the future. (37.1%) of fourth year undergraduates and (62.9%) of interns acquired knowledge about CBCT through a seminar, while (48%) of fourth year undergraduates and (52%) of interns learned from faculty lecture classes. This study emphasised on students' knowledge of CBCT application in dentistry and their perception of CBCT's potential value in future general dentistry practice. Results of the study revealed that dental students had an average knowledge and positive attitude towards CBCT. It is recommended to engage students in educational programmes concerning theoretical knowledge and practical aspects of CBCT. This could promote better knowledge and attitude among dental undergraduates.","PeriodicalId":383292,"journal":{"name":"International Dental Journal of Student's Research","volume":" 26","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140391649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There have been substantial changes made to the data collecting, interpretation, and other procedures used in the field of forensic odontology. The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of the conceptualizations that are currently employed in forensic odontology as well as emerging developments in traditional approaches. Future prospects for the study of forensic odontology appear bright due to a number of rising trends in the discipline. Since the majority of the instruments rely on the records that dentists keep, it is imperative that dentists stay up to date on the latest developments in forensic odontology. In cases of bite mark analysis, age determination, child abuse, and identification fixing in mass disasters, the forensic odontologist applies his or her dental expertise. As a result, in a number of medicolegal cases in recent years, forensic odontologists have had more duty and obligation.","PeriodicalId":383292,"journal":{"name":"International Dental Journal of Student's Research","volume":" 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140391484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Root halves were divided into 2 groups and 3 sub-groups based on the irrigation protocol. Samples were evaluated for mineral content with Scanning Electron Microscope/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS). The data were analyzed statistically.Results revealed a statistically significant difference in calcium levels of younger age group, with higher levels for SmearClear (19.1±1.31) when compared to MTAD (Mixture of Tetracycline Isomer, Acid and Detergent) (17.1±1.16), with p value 0.01. A statistically significant difference was observed in magnesium levels of younger age group, with higher levels for MTAD (0.95±0.21) when compared to SmearClear (0.82±0.22), with p value 0.05. Mean comparison of Ca/P ratio of younger age group, revealed higher values for SmearClear (1.71±0.14) when compared to MTAD (1.56±0.15), with p value 0.02.MTAD caused significantly greater loss of calcium, phosphorous, sodium and altered Ca/P ratio of root dentin among younger age group. On the other hand, loss of magnesium content was found to be higher within SmearClear sub group of younger age group (p=0.05).","PeriodicalId":383292,"journal":{"name":"International Dental Journal of Student's Research","volume":" 54","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140392463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a tumor-like development of the oral cavity that is thought to be neoplastic in nature. It is typically found around the skin or anterior teeth. Numerous stressors, such as intense injury, low-grade local discomfort, hormone fluctuations, or certain drugs, are commonly the cause of it. Histologically, the surface epithelium may show foci of ulcerations, hyperkeratosis, or even intact. It sits on top of a thick mass of connective tissue with a high concentration of fully grown collagen. The most often impacted area is the gingiva, which is followed by the lips, tongue, and buccal mucosa. In general, pyogenic granuloma does not develop when the base and its contributing variables are removed.","PeriodicalId":383292,"journal":{"name":"International Dental Journal of Student's Research","volume":" 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140391805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Frontal facial photographs of these females were obtained and subjected to score evaluation for grouping into 3 groups viz group I unpleasant face group, group II acceptable face group, group III pleasant face group, by a group of 6 evaluators individually. Anthropometric measurements were taken on the subject’s face in frontal view by marking various landmarks. Various facial proportions were measured and recorded using calibrated calipers and then compared with golden proportion.In group I, facial indices ratio Al-Al/ Ch-Ch (0.697) shows a comparable ratio to the golden proportion. Group II showed no relationship with golden proportion for any facial ratios. In group III, facial ratio Al-Al/ N-Sn (0.685) shows a comparable ratio to the golden proportion. There was no statistically significant difference found in the golden proportion among the three groups viz unpleasant face group, acceptable face group and pleasant face group. Ideal golden proportions may partially govern the standards of beauty, but they were not analogous to the beauty or facial esthetics of the attractive females in the present study. This may be the result because beauty perception is subjective & depends on a variety of factors.","PeriodicalId":383292,"journal":{"name":"International Dental Journal of Student's Research","volume":" 99","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140392248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed at evaluate the relationship between oral health behaviors including the consumption of sugar/acid diet of both mothers and their children on the caries status of the children. The relationship between the caries status of mothers and children was also evaluated. This cross-sectional study was performed in rural villages near the capital of our country. The dentition status of 57 mother-child pairs was evaluated using World Health Organization (WHO) criteria for oral health surveys. Oral health behaviors and diet assessment of both mothers and children were investigated through WHO suggested questionnaires. Pearson and Spearman correlations, independent sample t-test, and linear regression analysis were used for the statistical analysis. The Significance level was set at 0.05. Mean DMFT values were 16.6 and 1.6 for mothers and children, respectively, whereas children dmft mean value was 4.3. Children of mothers who consumed diet with high sugar and acid content had worse caries status (0.010≤P-value≤0.013). Caries status of children had weak correlation coefficients (0.2-0.4) with mothers’ caries status though statistically significant (0.008≤P-value≥0.048). Linear regression analysis revealed statistically significant models (P<0.05) with R values≤0.2. Although some oral health behaviors and sugar/acid-rich diet of both mothers and their children correlated with the caries status of the children, these correlations were generally weak to intermediate. The current study suggested that oral health behaviors enhancement of both mothers and children could be one of these activities.","PeriodicalId":383292,"journal":{"name":"International Dental Journal of Student's Research","volume":" 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140391609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
