The goal behind the current research is to high light and demonstrate the outcome of utilizing advance and intelligent building management system (IBMS) based in utilizing a fuzzy logic controller that allows the usage and the control of natural light (day light). The fuzzy logic controller (FLC) was sat to control the buildings dimming system while utilizing natural light which normally allows to add outdoors illuminance into the inside ones. This control system is significant mean technique that can be used in intelligent buildings commercial buildings, hence energy savings and consequently, greenhouse gas emissions reduction. The proposed control system relies on enumerating the outdoor and the indoor illuminance and allowing some add-on controllers in order to put into effect a photometric computer that capable of comparing and tasking decisions to regulate rooms lighting fixtures. The article also demonstrates energy savings using this technique and then suggest proper markets for using this controlling system whether during the buildings’ design stage, existing commercial buildings.","PeriodicalId":38280,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems","volume":"11 1","pages":"1686-1692"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48301745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By this consideration, this study proposes a new design, and simulation results with analysis of a hybrid PV system. The system is able to deliver 5 kW, through the day hours, with less number of PV panels based on a hybrid technique. The proposed technique combines two manipulating processes. The first one guarantees the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) condition during day hours through an artificial Neural Network (ANN) controller. The paper introduces the problems of EV charging against the grid power system. Thus, the hybrid charging for EV is suggested. The study provides an architecture of the hybrid EV charging station along with the factor impacting the EV infrastructure for acknowledgment. The cost elements of the station are presented to address the benefits of the investment. Besides, the profit is mainly from the margin of the electricity price, therefore, this study compares the electricity cost of PV and PV equipped with a battery with the commercial on-peak electricity tariff. The results show that the charging cost contributed by PV alone has the lowest amount throughout the study period year 2020 – 2030. In contrast, the hybrid charging cost contributed by PV and battery has a higher value than the on-peak tariff during 2020 – 2025 but it is lower afterward. The result supports the feasibility of charging an EV by solar power and the hybrid power system in the future.","PeriodicalId":38280,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems","volume":"11 1","pages":"2223-2230"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"64368311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most important issues of the power system network are power quality, the major problems of power quality are voltage sag/swell and harmonics which cause tripping or malfunctioning of the equipment. This paper gives an economic and effective solution by utilizing the dynamic voltage restorer to protect the sensitive loads from the disturbances that happened in the system such as voltage sag/swell and harmonics. Enhancement of the system’s stability will be achieved by utilizing Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) controllers at the best place in the system. The optimum placement of (FACTS) controllers occurred on the most affected bus by the fault in the system (weakest bus). Two approaches have been used in this study to effectively obtain the best location of the (FACTS) controllers in the system. The first method is based on computing the deviation which occurs in the active power and reactive power due to the fault at each load bus at a time. Whereas the second method is performed through exploiting a MATLAB fuzzy set technique utilizing two indices: Line Flow Index (LFI) and Voltage Profile Index (VPI) during fault and steady-state conditions. The results show that both of these indices resulted in the same bus as the best location. Remedial actions in the attempt at improving in the stability of the power system are discussed taking the advantage of using (FACTS) compensation (SVC) and (STATCOM) at the most vulnerable system buses.
