While on the one hand user data may help companies improve their services and gain a better understanding of potential customers, on the other hand, the proliferation of user data is usually accompanied by a loss of user privacy. In the case of platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Google, users are essentially trading their personal information for services and are often unaware of the potential consequences this trade may have on their private life. This paper presents an approach that allows users to store their data on their own smartphone and have full control over their data, allowing them to specify which companies or organizations obtain their personal data. At the same time, the blockchain technology will be used to realize a system for reliable negotiations involving user data without a central entity. Our approach makes it impossible for either the data provider or data collector to perform manipulations or cheat once a data exchange contract has been signed.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115997348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most promising architectures in this context is based on massive parallel and specialized cores interconnected by means of a Network-on-Chip (NoC). In this paper, we extensively evaluate NoC-based deep neural network accelerators by exploring the design space spanned by several architectural parameters including, network size, routing algorithm, local memory size, link width, and number of memory interfaces. We show how latency is mainly dominated by the on-chip communication whereas energy consumption is mainly accounted by memory (both on-chip and off-chip). The outcome of the analysis, thus, pushes toward a research line devoted to the optimization of the on-chip communication fabric and the memory subsystem for performance improvement and energy efficiency, respectively.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116447190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The heterogeneity of smart devices in terms of performance, heating behaviors, and energy consumption can result in different patterns of smart home behaviors and measurements. This paper proposes a modeling and simulation approach using Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) formalism to simulate the behaviors in terms of power usage and cost in smart home devices under different scenarios and settings. Smart devices are divided into two categories: monitoring devices and control devices. Monitoring devices include sensors that capture data of climate, energy, electrical power usage, performance, and occupants' behavior. Control devices are used to send signals for setting and remote controlling of the different devices in the smart home. The result of this work enables designers to provide key solutions such as automatic control and monitoring of the power consumption, electrical load, and heating behaviors. It also helps system designers to make correct decisions in setting up the appropriate number of devices and types, while testing the system performance beforehand under different conditions, parameters, and scenarios.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123908444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, the 6TiSCH architecture, proposed by IETF, represents the current leading standardization effort to enable timed and reliable data communication within IPv6 networks for industrial applications. In wireless networks, Link Quality Estimation (LQE) is a crucial task to select the best routes for data forwarding, regardless of unpredictable time varying conditions. Although, many solutions for LQE have been proposed in literature, the majority of them are not designed specifically for 6TiSCH networks. In this paper, we analyze the performance of existing LQE strategies on 6TiSCH networks. First, we run a set of simulations to measure the performance of one existing LQE strategy in 6TiSCH. Our simulations show that such strategy can result in measurements with low accuracy due to the 6TiSCH default timeslot allocation strategy. Consequently, we propose an extension of the 6TiSCH Minimal Configuration that allocates specific timeslots for the transmission of probing messages to mitigate the problem. The proposed methodology is demonstrated to effectively reduce the LQE error.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130732448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, these IoT devices are limited in compute, storage, and network capacity which makes them easy to hack and compromise. To achieve a safe development of IoT, it is necessary to develop scalable security solutions optimized for the IoT ecosystem. To this end, Software Defined Networks (SDN) is a promising paradigm proposed in 5G that could help to detect and mitigate Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. In this article, we propose an experimental evaluation of an entropy-based solution to detect and mitigate DoS attacks in different scenarios. Results show the effectiveness of this mechanism. The proposed test beds have been conducted by using real data flows, in order to validate the solution under authentic IoT traffic.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126508046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

UAVs have diverse applications in civil and military domains. Swarm of UAV system is able to combinedly finish the operations more reliably and financial more than single UAV. UAV system has rapidly changing topology due to high mobility devices. Currently, Mobile adhoc networks (MANETs) routing is used for communication in UAV networks, the standards for communication system in Flying adhoc Networks is yet to be developed. UAV system streaming information needs protocol with high bandwidth, high mobility, varying link stability and high energy consumption compare to adhoc networks. It leads to abruptly breaking communication in between UAV-to-UAV and UAV-to-ground. In this paper, we discuss the link stability issues in UAV communication systems. Link stability estimation is required for reliable communication in between end-to-end flying nodes. We have simulate the MANETs protocol for reliable communication in flying adhoc networks. However, the difficulty of ensuring high reliability of IoT-Gateways and its deployed services increases along with the complexity of digital systems. Reliable operation of such gateways and devices therefore depends on automated methods for detecting abnormal behaviour as early as possible, in order to remediate the situation before the complete failure of a system component. We propose an unsupervised anomaly detection algorithm by extending the concept of Half-Space Trees through online adaptive thresholds for real-time computation. The anomaly detector consumes multidimensional time series data from an external monitoring component and is fixed in computational complexity to support real-time operation. In order to determine valuable hyperparameters, we propose a data stream and anomaly simulation system, providing options for pattern induced load simulations and different types of anomalies. Further, we evaluate the anomaly detection method on monitoring data originating from a deployment of the open source software Project Clearwater, a lightweight implementation of the IP-Multimedia Subsystem capable of running on VMs with limited resources. Results show the applicability of Half-Space Tree based anomaly detection with high detection rates (99.4%) and low number of false alarms (< 3%).","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131909586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two types of sewerage, separated sewerage and combined sewerage, can be differentiated. In this paper, we show the application of a level sensor and a rain sensor for monitoring the separated sewerage. The level sensor is used for knowing if there is a critical level of water in the sewerage. The rain sensor is used to know if it is raining. The combination of this information allows the identification of three scenarios. These scenarios are normal situation, low drainage and illicit discharge/blockages in the pipeline. In addition, we study the use of sensors and mathematical models for monitoring the velocity of the wastewater. We concluded that the use of mathematical models is a good option for monitoring the velocity. Because with exception of the thermal sensors the other types of sensors show important gaps. The velocity is used to estimate the flow that is dumping in the water bodies. We use an ESP32 board program with Arduino IDE for data collection and sending the data to a server on the same network via Wi-Fi. The server is a computer that processes the data. We present the programming code and the ports that should be used for transmitting the data from Arduino to computer server.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133999647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional networks route and forward data traffic based on this identifier. The IP address is the most common standardized identifier for a mobile node (MN) in communication systems. An MN should acquire an IP address belongs to the attached AP when it wants to connect it. Hence, a new address mapping should be done by the network devices to forward data packets. This process causes loss of connection continuity, data packets, and increase processing delay. In this paper, we provide a novel MN’s tag, which can be used by software-defined networking (SDN) networks as a non-standard identifier for routing and forwarding data traffic on the SDN network paradigms. The MN tag is generated by a logical process that includes the subscriber identity module (SIM) card number and the media access control (MAC) address. Moreover, our proposed approach is to direct the data packets based on the generated tag, which is used by network devices as an identifier for an MN. The results show that SDN networks outperform conventional systems in maintaining continuity of connection and reducing the processing delay time of incoming data to the network. Also, the suggested approach enhanced the performance of the SDN network by utilizing the generated tag instead of the IP address to forwarding packets. Consequently, this leads to the moving node can keep the continuity of its connection when it moves among APs of attached network with a minimum delay time to steering the data flow to the target MN.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115624927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This revolution ultimately raises the question of data security. Since these devices use low-end microcontrollers, conventional data security measures cannot be applied for such devices with low computing power. Hence lightweight cryptography comes into picture to take on the responsibility of data security. Light weight block cipher RoadRunneR was presented by Adnan Baysal as an efficient light weight block cipher with its security provable against linear and differential attacks. This paper presents the hardware implementation of RoadRunneR block cipher and the results with their respective architectures. RoadRunneR cipher has been implemented with 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit datapath size on four different FPGA platforms with same implementation conditions. Performance metrics of architectures is summarized and is compared with standard block ciphers such as AES [1], PRESENT [2], LED [3], ICEBERG [4], SEA [5], PRIDE [6] and RECTANGLE [7] to give the reader an in-depth insight on the performance of lightweight block cipher.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"156 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115743177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
