Privacy is an essential feature of crypto-transactions. We have seen privacy-preserving cryptocurrencies like Monero with Cryptonote protocol and Zerocash with Zk-SNARKs. However, the privacy of transactions comes at the cost of the transactions not being visible at all to any regulatory bodies. In most developed or developing countries, the Government is democratic, and it is generally a good idea for the Government to be able to prevent illicit activities like foreign exchange frauds, black markets, criminal funding, and drug trafficking. The XAND blockchain aims to resolve this problem by allowing some authorized participants to view the transactions, while at the same time maintaining the privacy of the transactions from other regular users, including the validators.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121310657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aggregating data from a wealth of sensors throughout a city, with the aim of improving quality of life for its dwellers has become a major focus for city developers. The automotive sector is in prime position to play a pivotal role in the success of Smart Cities. Vehicle Telematics, the process of gathering and transmitting Geo-Enriched vehicle data, is seen as a key enabler in improving mobility in urban areas. Modern vehicles generate up to 5GB an hour, with newer models generating far more. How this data is to be processed and transmitted is a hotly researched topic. This work focuses on raw vehicle data extraction and the valuable insights it holds in terms of fuel consumption and driver behaviour. Data is extracted and distributed from the vehicle using a novel architecture consisting of the FMS standard and a Flow Based Programming inspired approach. Road Side Units (RSUs) are set to play a key role in the area of vehicle communication in urban areas. This work will evaluate the level of governance the RSUs can achieve in Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) scenarios.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124648536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This presents challenges regarding scalability, spontaneous interaction and communication without infrastructure. Also the user interaction with IoT devices has limitations with respect to efficiency, costs and privacy. The provisioning of local services with a direct point-to-point communication link may help to overcome this concerns. As a decentralized system architecture, smart contracts give the blockchain a user-defined logical concept. The smart contract is an executable program that can be used for automatic transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. In 2016, the DAO attack resulted in the theft of 60M USD due to unsafe smart contracts. Smart contracts are vulnerable to hacking because they are difficult to patch and there is a lack of assessment standards for ensuring their quality. Hackers can exploit the vulnerabilities in smart contracts when they have been published on Ethereum. Thus, this study presents SoliAudit (Solidity Audit), which uses machine learning and fuzz testing for smart contract vulnerability assessment. SoliAudit employs machine learning technology using Solidity machine code as learning features to verify 13 kinds of vulnerabilities, which have been listed as Top 10 threats by an open security organization. We also created a gray-box fuzz testing mechanism, which consists of a fuzzer contract and a simulated blockchain environment for on-line transaction verification. Different from previous research systems, SoliAudit can detect vulnerabilities without expert knowledge or predefined patterns. We subjected SoliAudit to real-world evaluation by using near 18k smart contracts from the Ethereum blockchain and Capture-the-Flag samples. The results show that the accuracy of SoliAudit can reach to 90% and the fuzzing can help identify potential weaknesses, including reentrancy and arithmetic overflow problems.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130498144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, the railway industry uses networks with multiple backbones. The most prominent are communication setups with the WTB/MVB(Wire train bus/ multifunctional vehicle bus) and the ETB/ECN (Ethernet Train Backbone/ Ethernet Consist network). Where the WTB/MVB is used to host safety-criticality applications, the ETB/ECN is used for non-safety criticality applications, since the ETB/ECN is not able to provide determinism. Nevertheless, the main reason for the addition of the Ethernet-based communication is the high bandwidth availability, to satisfy the increasing data traffic generated by applications on the train. However, these mixed networks create greater complexity, increased cable length, weight and maintenance cost as a result of two different topologies. This paper proposes and evaluates TTEthernet as means to provide determinism and mixed criticality platform for the train communication network (TCN). A fault injection approach is adopted for the evaluation, and the performances of ETB/ECN profile and TTEthernet are observed under a babbling idiot failure mode. The ETB/ECN profile is used as a baseline to reveal specifically the rate-constrained (RC) traffic type behaviour of TTEThernet.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"9 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121001511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In practice, these objects rely on protocols to exchange data between server and client. One of these protocols is the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP). CoAP enables sensors to send and receive data from the server with appropriate energy efficiency. However, these objects are not secure and are vulnerable to attacks, also they are subjected to restricted energy and limited resources. In this paper, message integrity and message authentication have been added to the CoAP protocol. We use two different algorithms, the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128 bit and the hash function SHA256 algorithm, in order to secure the CoAP protocol and compare the resulting performance. We evaluate our proposed scheme based on a smart-home application using the simulation tool Contiki. Our scheme results show that AES takes less time than the hash function SHA256 to initiate a secure session. Conversely, the hash function algorithm SHA256 consumes less energy than AES.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122209090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can solve the trust issue among enterprises. Hyperledger Fabric is a permissioned blockchain aiming at enterprise-grade business applications. However, compared to traditional distributed database solutions, one issue of blockchain based application development is the limited data access. For Fabric, the ledger data can only be retrieved by limited interfaces provided by Fabric SDKs or chaincode. In order to meet the requirements of data query and provide flexible query functions for real applications built on Fabric, this paper proposed a ledger data query platform called Ledgerdata Refiner. With ledger data analysis middleware, we provide sufficient interfaces for users to retrieve block or transaction efficiently. It is also able to track historical operations for any specific state. In addition, schemas of ledger state have been analyzed and clustered, which enable users to perform rich queries against ledger data. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of our query platform on a real application.","PeriodicalId":379304,"journal":{"name":"2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130851115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

KM3NeT uses Digital Optical Modules (DOMs) to detect neutrinos but there will be a study about the viability to acoustic detection of neutrinos using mainly the acoustic sensors the telescope has for positioning purposes. For this, it is necessary to calibrate and test the acoustic response of the receivers in the detector to determine the sensitivity to detect the neutrino acoustic signal and discriminate it from the environmental background. In this work, the strategy for the calibration of the sensor system using a compact array using three steps (frequency, directivity and neutrino signal-like) is described. In this paper we experiment with the use of license plates as a mean to identify vehicles and use this identification number to bootstrap security based on identity-based cryptographic schemes. Since the deployment of the public-key infrastructure may be difficult at a large scale for the automotive environment, the use of identity-based cryptography may offer benefits since it does not require public-key certificates. We present experiments based on Android smartphones in order to determine the feasibility of deploying this technology.
