Four states of motor operation are defined as normal operation, starting of short circuit, steady state short circuit and ending of short circuit. The neural network based detection system is utilized to distinguish these defined operation states. Motor current is processed using discrete wavelet transformation to extract energy component of high frequency signal, which is latterly used for variable detection. Three different wavelet types varied by five levels of transformation are evaluated using linear discriminant analysis (LDA) in order to obtain the most appropriate wavelet filter for detection task. A complete analysis of torque-, flux-, and efficiency-maps are done by means of a vector controlled drive implemented with in a field programmable gate array (FPGA). The measurements are compared to results from Finite Element Analysis (FEA). A key feature of this implementation is an instantaneous measurement of the inverter output voltage that facilitates estimation of the input power of the machine. The synthetic loading technique completely eliminates the need for a torque transducer, load machine and holds a control over temperature development during the tests. This new method finds its origins in works on the unsupervised classification algorithms based on ant clustering and the heuristic principles of the K-means algorithm and the principal components analysis (PCA). The main advantage is that requires no information about the system or about a possible number of classes. The proposed algorithm is evaluated in the Benchmark data set (IRIS) and applied to the diagnosis of a squirrel-cage induction motor of 5.5 kW in order to clustering data sets and verify the fault detection capability. Multiphase motor drives are an attractive technology for high power applications. They have many degrees of freedom that can be used for many purposes, such as power density improvement, monitoring, and so on. In this paper, a characterization of rotor faults for five-phase surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors is presented. The considered rotor fault is the demagnetization of the rotor magnet trailing edges, due to large stator currents. The non-invasive detection method is based on a Fourier transform of the back-emf induced in the α-β planes, and exploits the large number of degrees of freedom of a multiphase motor drive. A method for the calculation of the bearing voltage directly from the CM voltage at the neutral point has been previously proposed in the literature. In this paper, a new representation of the stator winding, which is verified experimentally, is proposed to be easily implemented in a simulation software tool for the calculation of the CM voltage. Moreover, an accurate calculation of the bearing voltage from the integral of the CM current, via the bearing voltage ratio, is proposed. This snubber circuit provides ZVT turn on and ZVS turn off for the main switch. Also, the auxiliary switch turns on with ZCS and turns off with ZVS with this snubber cell. SS operation conditions are maintained at very wide line and load ranges and no semiconductor component has an additional voltage stress. The current stress of the auxiliary switch is reduced through transferring of SS energy to the output. There is no additional current stress on the main switch. Proposed method uses the magnetic flux density in proximity of induction motor as a diagnostic signal and it reaches the relatively high sensitivity in case of rotating air gap asymmetry represented by dynamic eccentricity. Since the bearing fault is the most frequent type of failure, the feasibility of applying this method is investigated. The results of experimental tests are introduced, including the motors with dynamic eccentricity and with artificially damaged bearing on the inner race. Usually in RSM the direct axis air gap is kept low to achieve improved performance. Therefore, eccentricity fault detection in RSM becomes vital. Static eccentricity, one of the two types of eccentricity, is present even in a newly manufactured motor. So far not much work has been reported in literature with respect to modeling a salient pole machine under static eccentric condition. In this paper a Modified Winding Function Approach (MWFA) based model is developed and a characteristic frequency corresponding to static eccentric condition is identified.
