Although the proposal itself is derived for integral plus dead-time (IPDT) process models, thanks to the universality of the used ultra-local model, the field of applicability can be very wide and include a number of stable and unstable, linear and non-linear processes. With regard to the progress achieved in the design of generalized automatic reset controllers, the diversity of their various modifications and also with respect to the genius of original automatic reset and hyper reset controllers and their inventors, the contribution further discusses related terminological aspects, especially the misleading designation of these solutions by the term series PI and PID controllers, which was the source of many misunderstandings, problems and contributed to the significant lag in the further development of this type of control. Similar comments it also adds regarding the use of the term anti-reset-windup controller.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":37894,"journal":{"name":"IFAC-PapersOnLine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2405896324008139/pdf?md5=c1925b7a853798041df53f657f2c3fbc&pid=1-s2.0-S2405896324008139-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142088626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method simultaneously obtains FOPID controller and reference model parameters to achieve tracking performance and specified robust stability from only one-shot closed-loop input-output data. The proposed control law is designed by solving an optimization problem, subject to the constraint condition of using the maximum value of the sensitivity function. Therefore, the proposed method provides trade-off design between tracking performance for the reference input and robust stability by selecting robust stability. By comparing numerical example results obtained for FOPID and integer-order controllers, it is shown that the use of the FOPID controller is effective in improving tracking performance for reference output.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":37894,"journal":{"name":"IFAC-PapersOnLine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S240589632400822X/pdf?md5=04ea32d4a6493d5ab59e8266a2fc1df2&pid=1-s2.0-S240589632400822X-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142088633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the defection of an eccentric soft fluidic actuator is characterized in terms of the dynamic displacement using both integer and fractional order (FO) models. The actuator, which is cylindrical in shape, is made of a silicone polymer called polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) from a water-soluble mold and a rod that, when placed eccentrically, allows to create the internal chamber of the actuator. Experimental results are presented to show that the best fitting is obtained with FO models. Diabetic retinopathy is one of the leading causes of blindness worldwide. Because of the need to examine a large number of individuals on a daily basis, it is indeed challenging for ophthalmologists to analyze the complex retinal vasculature of every outpatient. Automated segmentation of retinal blood vessels can be of significant aid in this labor-intensive process. This work proposes an unsupervised approach for retinal blood vessel segmentation. Here, we enhance the performance of the B-COSFIRE filters for segmentation of the retinal vasculature by denoising a retinal image using a fractional filter derived from a left/forward weighted fractional integral prior to the vascular enhancement by B-COSFIRE filters. Also, we utilize hysteresis thresholding rather than a single global threshold to obtain the final segmented vessels enhanced by the B-COSFIRE filters. This helps to avoid the problem of nonuniform illumination and poor contrast in retinal images.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":37894,"journal":{"name":"IFAC-PapersOnLine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2405896324009789/pdf?md5=7e638087737114c204c603fdd422dc30&pid=1-s2.0-S2405896324009789-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142089524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paradigm facilitates the leveraging of knowledge acquired from observing the behaviour of different, yet related dynamics. This paper discusses the role of meta-model adaptation. Through numerical examples, we demonstrate how meta-model adaptation can enhance predictive performance in three realistic scenarios: tailoring the meta-model to describe a specific system rather than a class; extending the meta-model to capture the behaviour of systems beyond the initial training class; and recalibrating the model for new prediction tasks. The main drawback of EIS is the long time required to scan a whole spectrum down to low frequencies. Thus, chronopotentiometry (CP) is an alternative method which consists in identifying impedance parameters using an excitation current sequence lasting a few seconds and the corresponding induced voltage variations. An impedance fractional model needs to be synthesized in order to allow simulation also in the time domain. The pertinence of CP is demonstrated using experimental results obtained with a Samsung 3.4 Ah Li-ion cell. Due to its inability to take into account the inductive behavior, fractional model used in the time domain exhibit limitations.
