Nevertheless, these system approaches are mostly dedicated to distributed information presentation, exploring the potentials of current Internet/WWW technologies (e.g. Java, HTML, VRML). This article describes a research project at the Computer Graphics Center (ZGDV) in collaboration with small and medium enterprises in the maritime application area with the objective to enhance the interaction and demonstration quality of training by integrating a distributed simulation environment into the training scenario. This training scenario is based on HLA/RTI while clients are developed using Visual C++ as well as the Java development kit.","PeriodicalId":378710,"journal":{"name":"IECON'99. In this paper, the authors provide a new concept to analyze PN properties based on graph theory. First, they show the method to convert PNs into directed graphs, and then introduce the transitive matrices of PNs. Second, structural properties are examined using the characteristic polynomial and equation of the transitive matrices, and applying the Mason's theorem derived from signal-flow-graphs. Furthermore, behavioral properties concerning the transition firing orders are discussed using the power of the transitive matrices.","PeriodicalId":378710,"journal":{"name":"IECON'99. A fuzzy logic control has been proposed based on the wind speed estimation in order to get maximum power and stability of the system. The proposed system consists of two sets of a PV array and buck-boost type chopper circuit. However, it is afraid that the system has lower \"using rate\" of PV energy than that of the ordinary PV system, as each PV array is only operated in the half duration of the AC power frequency. In this paper, it is also discussed how to increase this \"using rate\" by varying the connected capacitor between PV array terminals. The perturbation and observation method is adapted to the maximum power tracking in our PV systems. We adopt the wavelet transform to detect a power outage. The experimental data shows that this new inverter can supply AC power to the utility grid line with the power factor nearly unity.","PeriodicalId":378710,"journal":{"name":"IECON'99. This requires additional filtering expenditure to suppress voltage and current harmonics in the feeding lines. So far, this filtering is mostly implemented by passive filters connected between line and load. Active filtering schemes have been used for current harmonics suppression. This paper focuses on a solution where the power line voltages are conditioned such that higher voltage harmonics are suppressed by an active power electronic filter. The control strategy has been designed to instantaneously balance voltage overshoot with deficiency. The scheme presented here allows for reshaping of the AC-line voltage to any desired shape. It is shown that this scheme is capable of suppressing line voltage harmonics for an example power electronic load. The simulations were performed using SIMPLORER/sup (R)/.","PeriodicalId":378710,"journal":{"name":"IECON'99. Their target was to detect steam leakages, which is one of the most important indications of power plant failure in its early stages. Fourier analysis, which is a conventional method for the sound processing, cannot detect small abnormal sounds mixed with large normal sounds. The authors focus on the characteristics of adaptive digital filters (ADF), which enhance a small signal in a large background noise, and propose an abnormal sound detection method by comparing the properties between normal and abnormal filters produced by the ADF process. Finally, they show the efficiency of this method by applying it to sounds recorded in a power plant. The results of its application to sound source detection are also reported.","PeriodicalId":378710,"journal":{"name":"IECON'99.
