However, in order to effectively support multimedia as well as ordinary traffic through a WMN infrastructure, traffic control is generally needed as wireless communications, especially in mesh network configurations, can be affected by significant congestion and channel impairments problems. In this work we are focusing on performance assessment and enhancement in IEEE802.11 WMNs. Multimedia coding technology, after about 20 years of active research, has delivered a rich variety of different and complex coding algorithms. Selecting an appropriate subset of these algorithms would, in principle, enable a codec designer to produce any desired trade-off between compression performance and implementation complexity. Currently, interoperability demands that this selection process be ldquohard-wiredrdquo into the normative description of the codec, or at best, a number of choices codified within the media syntax (i.e MPEG profiles). This talk presents an alternative paradigm for codec deployment that is currently under development by MPEG, known as Reconfigurable Video Coding (RVC). Using RVC, the final objective is to enable arbitrary combinations of fundamental algorithms to be assembled, without additional standardization steps, because everything necessary for decoding is delivered alongside the content itself. The side-information consists of a description of the content syntax, as well as a description of the decoder configuration. Decoder configuration information is provided as a description of the interconnections between algorithmic blocks. The approach is based on describing all ldquoalgorithmsrdquo under the form of ldquolibraryrdquo of coding algorithms using CAL formalism and an XML dialect for the description of the configuration. One kind of device called in-vivo wireless capsule is introduced in recent years, which can examine the whole gastrointestinal tract with many kinds of sensors, and send the data outside the body wirelessly. This paper focuses on two research areas of the wireless capsule; localization and multi-capsule network. The different ways to realize position localization is discussed and compared. First, we observe that the correlation values between the time-delayed pseudo noise code and received signal remain almost unchanged, due to the multipath signals being received later than a line-of-sight signal. Based on this observation, we propose a novel delay tracking scheme for Galileo L1 OS systems. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional scheme in terms of the tracking bias and its running average in static channels. In this context, Media campus consists of the first Spanish experience dealing with content delivery from high definition adapted terminals to mobile handheld devices, with both professional and user generated audiovisual contents. Media includes advanced and accessible interactivity. Media campus uses DVB-T/H hierarchy transmission along with AVC/H.264 coding to provide television services within Ciudad Universitaria area in Madrid. The delivery platform is composed by a Web portal that allows user generated media monitoring and exchanging, and a digital television head-end. User contributions are processed and adapted, and then the multimedia content of high interest is broadcasted to TV and mobile devices following DVB standards. SDRs realized so far are mostly part of communication technology, including audio broadcast receivers. Image- and video processing in SDRs is not common due to the fact that this type of real-time application requires a huge amount of processing resources. It can be foreseen that SDRs for video processing will be the next attractive approach for flexible and cost-effective media systems. We started with functional diagrams of the required modules for TV receivers, selected suitable algorithms to estimate their computational complexity and investigated their resource-quality scaling properties. While obtaining information from the Internet, it is usual to create individual profiles in order to consume personalized content based on the users preferences, e.g. within news portals. The traditional broadcast domain does not offer such functionality by default. But there are still a number of scenarios for personal TV imaginable. This paper describes two of such scenarios, dealing with cross-modal audio-visual analysis methods. Furthermore, a system based on news segmentation and a news clip module is presented. The news segmentation algorithm uses a knowledge-based approach and decision rules, whereas the annotation algorithm focuses on text capturing components e.g. optical character recognition and speech recognition. The system designs and develops a multimedia search engine based on advanced direct video and audio search techniques operating directly on compressed content. The basic scheme explores novel media content indexing and search technologies and integrates them into a scalable multimedia search engine. The developed algorithms facilitate for direct searching in large repositories of compressed audiovisual content, providing an alternative and complementary path for metadata based audio/video search. In addition, DIVAS adopts a module-based, expandable architecture, facilitating the ongoing expansion of the system based on researcherspsila contributions.
