However, working with huge amounts of data and/or information remains a challenging issue, and search strategies are needed to cope more effectively with linguistic phenomena such as intralinguistic and interlinguistic variation in language use and polyfunctionality, which appear to be the rule rather than the exception in natural languages, not only in everyday language but in LSP communication, too. This paper will focus on different contextualization strategies. The examples offered, drawn from highly specialized subcorpora on the one hand and from very large general language corpora on the other, will illustrate once more the impact of variables such as domain, topic, text type etc., which can be observed even in the case of core vocabulary items. Furthermore it will discuss the potential offered by concgrams, which allow us to cope with many of the difficulties described above.","PeriodicalId":37792,"journal":{"name":"Glottotheory","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66795329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Projekte beeinflussen immer häufiger die Arbeitsstrukturen in Organisationen und wissenschaftlichen Instituten. Sie ermöglichen dynamisches, flexibles und vernetztes arbeiten, was in der heutigen Welt gefragt ist. Projektbasierte Arbeit bringt jedoch auch unterschiedliche Herausforderungen mit sich. Besonders im Falle von komplexen Projektkonstellationen, an denen Spezialisten aus verschiedenen Fachrichtungen und Ländern beteiligt sind, können strukturelle, sprachliche und kulturelle Hürden sehr groß sein. Der Artikel stellt theoretische Überlegungen zu der von der Forschung bislang vernachlässigten Beziehungsebene in der interkulturellen Projektkommunikation an und analysiert die Rolle von Asymmetrien für die projektinterne Kommunikation anhand von E-Mail-Interaktionen aus Wissenschafts- und Wirtschaftsprojekten. Zugrunde liegt ein Korpus von projektinternen E-Mails aus zwei interdisziplinären und interkulturellen Wirtschaftsprojekten und einem solchen aus dem Wissenschaftsbereich (vgl. MID sind dabei definiert als Zusammenspiel komplexer Ausdrucksressourcen wie z. B. Sprechen, Schreiben und Visualisieren. Bisher fehlen Ansätze, Methoden und Tools für die systematische Beschreibung und Analyse der Formen und Funktionen von MID. Die vorliegende Untersuchung setzt an dieser Stelle an. Sie gliedert sich ein in Forschungen zur Multimodalität von Kommunikation. Ziel ist es, ein Modell für die Beschreibung und Analyse von MID vorzustellen. Ein Aspekt wird hier herausgegriffen und fallbeispielbezogen diskutiert: das Modality-taking. Der Begriff Modality-taking bezeichnet die aktive Zuwahl einer Ausdrucksressource durch einen Interaktionsbeteiligten und ihre explizite verbale oder in einer anderen Ausdrucksressource erfolgende Thematisierung. Erste Analyseergebnisse zeigen, dass Modality-taking im Vorfeld einer MID mit kommunikativen Funktionen im Interaktionsgeschehen (z. B. Ankündigen einer MID) verbunden ist.","PeriodicalId":37792,"journal":{"name":"Glottotheory","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1515/glot-2016-0005","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66795228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the situation is different, when the language is only an orally transmitted language and one wants to use it for communication in New Media. There is a lack of unified rules, to which one can orientate oneself. The native speakers of Tarifit, who want to use their language in computer-mediated communication as well (like in Facebook groups), are in such a situation. There are many Facebook groups of Rifian Berbers, but the communication within these groups is usually not only in Tarifit. In groups with cultural topics on the other hand, a dominance of Tarifit can be observed. This includes groups, which have been created specifically for the culturally typical rhyme-songs of the Rif, the so-called “izran”. The analysed corpus of the present study originates from such a group. The initiated standardization processes for Berber in Morocco have not had any impact on the language use in social networks yet. The Berber script Tifinagh, introduced in Morocco’s education system in 2003, has never been used for communication between group members. The Arabic script is rarely used. This behavior can have different reasons, which are discussed below. It can be observed, that the Latin writing system is often chosen for the notation of Tarifit. Instead of using diacritics, the Latin characters are complemented by Arabic numerals when certain sounds have no corresponding graphemes. The choice of the writing system requires a constant assignment of graphemes to the sounds, but the notations are often characterized by the absence of uniform spelling and by neutralisations between phonemes.","PeriodicalId":37792,"journal":{"name":"Glottotheory","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1515/glot-2016-0014","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66795667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

QUALICOs have been held regularly since 1991 (Trier, followed by Moscow 1994, Helsinki 1997, Prague 2000, Athens, USA, 2003, Trier 2007, Graz 2009 and Belgrade 2012). This time QUALICO was devoted to the 20 th anniversary of IQLA and the Journal of Quantitative Linguistics (cf. Chen/Liu 2014 with a detailed review on the past twenty years of the most important journal within quantitative linguistics). Since the conference was held in the Czech Republic, local organizers dedicated the conference to two pioneers of general and “Czechoslovakian” quantitative linguistics, namely to Gabriel Altmann and Luděk Hřebíček, both of them celebrating their birthdays within a few days of the conference (cf. the Festschrift for Luděk Hřebíček on the occasion of his 80 th birthday in Altmann/Čech/Uhlířová 2014). For QUALICO 2014 over 50 presentations and six posters were chosen after a doubleblind review process (initially over 80 abstracts had been submitted to the organizing team), which employed eleven anonymous reviewers. Finally, 70 presenters were invited to QUALICO 2014, coming from eighteen different countries (Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States of America). Due to the high number of participants and limited time capacities the presentations had to be held partly in parallel sessions, which was a first for this kind of quantitative linguistics conference, and without any doubt it is a sign of the strong and increasing interest in applications of quantitative methods in linguistics and text analysis. The conference itself took place in the Art Centre of Palacký University, a well-equipped and recently renovated Baroque building of the former Jesuit College and one of the oldest parts of the university in Olomouc. The detailed programme 1 and the abstracts of the presentations and posters can be found in the booklet of abstracts, edited by M. Benešová, E. Kelih and J. Mačutek (cf. Dies geschieht aufgrund normativen Drucks zwar bloß im mündlichen Ausdruck – und wird deshalb im Schulunterricht als grammatischer Fehler gebrandmarkt.
