The dependence of fossil fuels have been greatly reduced with the use of renewable energy for electricity supply. Solar energy is the major source of renewable energy as it is available free of cost. But again the solar radiations are diffuse in nature hence the amount of radiations required to get a particular amount of energy is less. Hence several methods are used to concentrate this radiations on the solar panel. Mostly concentrators and reflectors are used to focus the diffuse radiation on to the panel. This will increase the amount of photons striking the panel and help in photo conduction. The paper discusses the importance of reflectors for increasing the solar module efficiency. In this paper the optimal angle at which the reflectors must be placed is also studied along with effect of different types of reflectors on the performance of the PV panel.","PeriodicalId":377501,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference for Advancement in Technology (ICONAT)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116853885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the major reasons is the underwater vessel-noise which distorts the speech signal profoundly. The Compressed Sensing (CS) techniques have been widely used to enhance the quality of the noisy speech signal. However, improving the speech intelligibility (SI) of the received speech signal with the on-board equipment is a challenging task and has never been attempted before. Hence in this work the improvement in the intelligibility of the noisy speech signal is achieved by modifying the CS technique by pre-processing the signal based on different features. The pre-processing scheme is based on projecting the received speech signal onto the null-space of the noise formants. The formants herein are extracted from the features such as Linear Prediction (LP) coefficients, Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), and chirp group-delay (GD). Experimental results show that the proposed CS scheme using different features pre-processing (which maximizes the improvement factor), achieves signifi-cant intelligibility improvement over traditional CS and other methods. The improvement factor is obtained using short time objective intelligibility (STOI) metrics.","PeriodicalId":377501,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference for Advancement in Technology (ICONAT)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120841662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identification of bird species has been a taxing ordeal for ornithologists and domain experts for decades. Hence, automation of bird species classification will greatly help in enhancing ecological surveys. This paper presents a method to automatically identify bird species from a video recording of the bird by applying image and audio processing and classification techniques. The image and audio classification models, built using pre-trained neural networks - ResNet50V2 and EfficientNetB0, are trained and tested on an image and audio dataset containing 137 bird species. The datasets were curated using multiple data sources to expand the reach of the proposed model. The test accuracy rates of the two models were 97.1% and 92.4% respectively with a final overall model accuracy of 90%.","PeriodicalId":377501,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference for Advancement in Technology (ICONAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129402209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, wireless V2H is configured with a single-ended converter that operates with a single power device to achieve a compact and low-cost system. Single-ended converters have a problem that they do not operate stably when the coupling coefficient fluctuates greatly. Therefore, developed have new structure asymmetric transfer coils with less fluctuation of coupling coefficient to realize a compact, lightweight and low-cost single-ended wireless V2H system.","PeriodicalId":377501,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference for Advancement in Technology (ICONAT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128582979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper starts with a brief overview on the significance of LSTM accelerators, historical background and general structure of LSTM accelerators. Then recent works in this area are highlighted. The research in this domain is focused on modifying the architecture of LSTM to overlap the computation of different stages in the network. This yields less power and higher performance as compared to the corresponding software implementation. The implementation on FPGA provides user with the ability to tradeoff resource utilization and speed of operation by adjusting the amount of parallelization for different operation such as vector multiplication and addition. This offers flexibility to adjust the computational load for different FPGA boards.","PeriodicalId":377501,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference for Advancement in Technology (ICONAT)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129672173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are different environmental conditions affecting the efficiency of the PV panel like change in irradiance, temperature, dust, shading, mounting, humidity, wind, inclination and various other factors. Among these other factors oil and snow are the factors which can also affect the output of the PV panel. Hence the objective of this paper is to improve the performance of the PV panel by using a fine layer of coating of oil. Here we have used four different types of oils like labovac oil, mobil oil, sunflower oil and olive oil for testing the effect of these oil coating on the performance of the PV panel. The result was compared with the panel with no coating. Both laboratory and outdoor experiment was conducted to study the effect of oil coating on the maximum power of the PV panel. Even in the laboratory experiment the effect on open circuit voltage and short circuit current was also tested. By using fine layer of coating with labovac oil the performance and efficiency of the panel increases in comparison to all other. Even open circuit voltage and short circuit current increases with increase in irradiance.","PeriodicalId":377501,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference for Advancement in Technology (ICONAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129839520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a neural network model having three modules for classifying walking patterns into nine known knee joint abnormalities in the sagittal plane. The training of the neural network is divided into three phases. In the first phase, the network is trained to learn the abnormality of each gait cycle instance. In the second phase, the network is trained to identify the relation between the anomaly of gait cycle instance and the nine known abnormal walking patterns. In the third phase, the network is fine-tuned. Further, the performance of the proposed model is compared with two other training conditions namely, ‘only two phases of training are done’ and ‘all modules are trained together’. The network obtained the best classification accuracy of 98%, the precision of 0.93, recall of 0.95 and f1-score of 0.95. These results suggest that a neural network-based method can be used as a gait assessment tool for known gait abnormalities.","PeriodicalId":377501,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference for Advancement in Technology (ICONAT)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126962447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The muscle activity can be analyzed with an electromyograph device and produce a recording in the form of an electromyogram or EMG signal. There are two recording methods, namely intramuscular EMG and surface EMG or sEMG which are easier and more convenient to implement but have lower resolution. Analysis of the EMG record data will be better if the right method is chosen, one of which is the selection of feature extraction methods. This study performs basic finger motion classification with a limited number of electrodes, namely 4 electrodes. The purpose of this research is to compare the variation of features in the time or frequency domain that will be used for classification using artificial neural networks (ANN) and long short-term memory (LSTM). Data acquisition was carried out with the Ganglion Board device on 6 subjects aged 20–22 years who conducted experiments with two kinds of movements, namely opening and holding all fingers alternately. The results of this study indicate that the use of time domain features for classification with ANN produces better accuracy than LSTM. This can happen because the duration of the movement in this study is quite short, which is only for two seconds. The results of the use of the frequency domain feature show that the use of LSTM produces better accuracy, especially on the mean power and median frequency characteristics.","PeriodicalId":377501,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference for Advancement in Technology (ICONAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130637700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
