Due to the depletion of natural populations, the renewal of the species by biotechnological methods has become relevant. In vitro reproduction or clonal micropropagation enables the researchers to massively duplicate plants with a definite genotype throughout the year. This review provides important information available today on the in vitro propagation methods and further successful regeneration for valuable plants from the genus Aristolochia. The generalized information is necessary to create a breeding technology for each of the species of the genus, which will save valuable medicinal resources.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67441268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tribe Sanguisorbeae shows an extraordinary diversity of bark abscission patterns. The outermost bark portions are peeling off along the non-conducting secondary phloem (Leucosidea, Cliffortia ruscifolia), or along the periderm (C. strobilifera). The protective function is performed by phellem (Leucosidea), or by sclerified secondary phloem (Cliffortia). In Polylepis, the separation layers occur in phellem and non-sclerified phloem, while a prominent protective layer is absent: its function is performed by multiple uniseriate layers of suberized phellem cells. Such pattern of peeling bark has not been reported yet elsewhere. Lenticels lack in Polylepis, but its phellem is similar in its structure (probably, also in some functions) to stratified filling lenticular tissue. Smooth surface of Polylepis bark is maintained by permanent abscission of thin layers representing an exterme case of the peeling type of bark architecture.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67441587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

(Lamiaceae). We used shoots of the plants from natural habitat, notably leaf nodes with axillary bud, as explants, sterilized the explants in 0.1 % Diocide for 4 minutes and cultivated them on agarized nutrient half-strength MS medium with vitamins, 2 % sucrose, 0.4 % agar, 1 mg/l indolylbutyric acid (IBA), or 0.5 or 1.0 mg/l 6-benzyladenine (BA). Medium pH was 4.6 or 5.4. We took hormonefree half-salt MS medium as a control. We observed the maximum propagation coefficient equal to 9.4 in microplants cultivated on the medium with 1 mg/l BA. Application of hormone-free MS medium can be recommended for D. charkeviczii propagation due to its simplicity. The use of the medium protocol with 1 mg/l BA on the first step and with IBA on the second step will allow rapid multiplication and establishment of full-fledged plants of D. charkeviczii for different purposes such as restoration of natural populations, source of valuable metabolites, landscaping, etc.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67436037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, 24 taxa of Cyanobacteria were found. Seven taxa were noted for the first time for this sea: Aphanocapsa incerta, Aphanothece nidulans, Chlorogloea cf. microcystoides, Pseudanabaena mucicola, Chroococcus sp., Gloeocapsopsis sp., Trichocoleus sp. Most Cyanobacteria species were benthic (90 %) and marine (67 %). There were only four indicators of saprobity, and all of them were freshwater species common in oligosaprobic and beta-mesosaprobic waters. Most species had a wide geographic distribution. Species marked of boreal (10 %), boreal-tropical (38 %), arctic-boreal-tropic (29 %) and cosmopolites (24 %) groups. The species richness of Cyanobacteria increased in the sites with the maximal anthropogenic loads from industrial and urban areas of the central Israel, and the minimal ones were in the protected areas.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67438553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This nature reserve area was established in 2019 and compared to nearby reserves, its flora is relatively understudied. From field surveys in 2014, 2019, and 2020, we collected about 400 herbarium specimens from various habitats and different altitudes in the reserve. We identified total of 317 taxa including 10 subspecies and three varieties of vascular plants belonging to 157 genera and 45 families. Among these, five species are nationally endemic, 27 species are endemic to Altai Mountains, and 37 species are threatened, including two critically endangered, 11 endangered, 16 vulnerable, and eight near threatened. In addition, we rediscovered Microula tibetica var. pratensis (Maxim.) W.T. Wang after 40 years. This first complete checklist of the SKMNR flora amplifies the value of protecting the diverse and threatened plants in the reserve and creates a baseline to assess future population changes.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67436217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, the main problem is different understanding of the scope and status of a number of taxa by Russian and foreign botanists. The article presents the chronology of the most prominent results of various authors, Russian and foreign (primarily Chinese, Korean and Japanese), who contributed to taxonomic, environmental and chorological studies of the genus Euonymus. The contributions of N.S. Turczaninow, K.J. Maksimovich, F.B. Schmidt, V.L. Komarov, T. Nakai, Ya.I. Prokhanov, A.I. Tolmachev, B.A. Shukhobodsky, T.G. Leonova, N.N. Tzvelev, S.K. Cherepanov, K.V. Kiseleva, V.A. Nedoluzhko to the formation of the modern taxonomic concept of the genus Euonymus are analyzed. Unresolved issues of biology of the Far Eastern species are emphasized, the ways of to solve them are outlined.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67436257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The detailed karyomorphometrical analysis of the plant revealed a symmetric karyotype which is primitive. A hypoploid variant along with the normal chromosome complement was recorded within a root meristem with karyotype formulae as 10 nm and 20 nm respectively. In the diploid cells two pair of chromosomes have secondary constriction with an average chromosome length of 1.81 μm. The high values of symmetric indices and low values of asymmetric indices proved the primitive nature of the karyotype.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67436310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
