The centric diatoms were presented by 10 species and intraspecies taxa belonging to four genera (Aulacoseira Thwaites, Alveolophora Moiseeva et Nevretdinova, Ellerbeckia Crawford, Melosira Agard) and three orders (Aulacoseirales, Paraliales and Melosirales). A detailed study with the use of LM and SEM allowed us to establish the high morphologic variability of the predominant representatives of the genus Aulacoseira. The diagnoses for the Alveolophora tscheremissinovae, Ellerbeckia kochii, Melosira undulata species were supplemented. The comparison of the taxonomic compositions of the centric diatoms from the Khanka complex with the even-aged complexes from other regions has shown the wide spreading of the genus Aulacoseira taxa in the freshwater bodies during this time period.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67435666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For 17 alpine species we test a hypothesis that the direction of intraspecific variation in leaf traits among different communities along an environmental gradient coincides consistently with community weighted mean (CWM) trait variation at the community level along the same gradient. We obtained two groups of leaf traits according to their response to CWM and topographic (snow depth and snow melt) gradients. For leaf mass and area intraspecific variation corresponded to CWM variation among communities. SLA, water content and leaf thickness patterns within species changed directly among communities according to the toposequence (snowmelt gradient). These results are well expressed for forbs, but mostly they were not significant for graminoids. For leaf area we obtained opposite response of forbs and graminoids to snowmelt gradient. Forbs increased, but graminoids decreased leaf area when snow depth increased. Intraspecific trait variation across natural gradients does not necessarily follow that for interspecific or community-level variation.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47836382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Целью работы была оценка репродуктивной эффективности P. craspedosorum в культуре in vitro с использованием спор в качестве эксплантов. Поверхностная стерилизация спор 2 % раствором 1,3-дихлоро-5,5-диметилгидантоина (сульфохлорантин-Д) в воде в течение 2,5 мин. была эффективна. Споры вы се вали на питательную среду Мурасиге-Скуга с половинным содержанием макросолей (1/2 MS) без добавления нитрата аммония, витаминов и регуляторов роста, с добавлением 2 % сахарозы, 0,8 % агара, при pH 5,8, и выращивали при фотопериоде 16 ч. Прорастание спор составило 85 %. Та же питательная среда была пригодной для культивирования гаметофитов и по лучения спорофитов. Для акклиматизации гаметофитов и молодых споро фитов в качестве субстрата использовали смесь торфа и вермикулита (2:1, об./об.). Акклиматизированные гаметофиты давали большее число спо ро фитов, чем гаметофиты в условиях in vitro. Однако появление спорофитов наблюдали раньше в условиях in vitro. Shelikhan In vitro culture of the rare fern Polystichum craspedosorum (Maxim.) Diels. Polystichum craspedosorum (Max.) Diels is a fern species belonging to the family Dryopteridaceae. The species is dist ri buted in East Asia: China, Japan, Korea, and the Russian Far East. This fern grows on the rivers banks and creeks, shady rocks and large stones of limestone. The species has been listed in the Red Data Books of the Jewish Auto nomous Region (2006) and Khabarovsk Territory (2008). The influence of human activities and the decline of habitats lead to the decrease in the number the fern in nature (Kreschenok & Khrapko 2018). In Amur Province, the species was first discovered in 2011 in the Bureya river valley of the Bureysky district (Starchenko & Darman 2012). A significant part of the P. craspedosorum population area is currently flooded by the reservoir of the Lower Bureyskaya hydro power plant in 2017. Earlier this year, P. cras pe dosorum was included in the Red List of Threa te ned Species of Amur Province. Belyaeva5,6 Validation of two varieties of Oxytropis tragacanthoides (Fabaceae) from Southern Siberia The genus Oxytropis DC. was established in 1802 (Fabaceae, seu Leguminosae; Faboideae ≡ Papilionoideae; Galegeae; Astragalinae) as one of the largest genera in Faba ceae. The genus includes about 400 species (Malyshev 2008), more than 370 of which are distributed mainly in Nor thern Eurasia (Yakovlev et al. 1996). The centre of diver sity of Oxytropis is Central Asia where 175 species occur which is more than a half of all known species of the genus. This genus is extremely diverse and rich in endemics: 78 spe cies of the total number are endemic to Central Asia (Vassilczenko 1965, Grubov 2003). In Southern Siberia, Oxytropis tragacanthoides Fisch. ex DC. is a representative of the Central Asian section Hystrix Bunge. Here this species has the status of a tertiary relict, the main part of whose range is in Central Asia (Peshkova 2001). Oxytropis tragacanthoides is a very polymorphic species. Three varieties of the species, O. tragacanthoides var. parviflora Polozhij (1965), O. tragacanthoides var. glabra Peschkova (1972), and O. tragacanthoides var. curaica Revuschkin (1990), have been described from the territory of Southern Siberia. Before segregation of the genus Agarum by Dumortier into a single taxon in 1822, its members were designated under different generic names, in clu ding also the genus Laminaria J.V. Lamour. (Agardh 1817). In 1840, species of Agarum and related taxa (viz. Costaria Grev., Thalassiophyllum Postels & Rupr.) were included in the fa mily Agaraceae by Postels & Ruprecht (1840). Species of Agarum are important in sublittoral habitats because they often dominate communities at a depth of 10 to 30 m (Gagnon et al. 2005). As discussed in the present study, Laminaria agarum (S.G. Gme lin) C. Agardh var. аsiaticum Bach.Pyl. and L. boryi Bach.Pyl. show a typical morphology for members of the genus Agarum. Typification of these two names allows cla ri fi cation of the taxonomic status of these taxa with subse quent synonymising of them with Agarum clathratum Dumort. Our study is based on an analysis of algological literature (Gmelin 1768, Stackhouse 1816, Agardh 1817, Dumortier 1822, Bory 1826, De la Pylaie 1830, Postels & Ruprecht 1840, Silva 1991, Boo et al. 2011, Kawai et al. 2017). The authors of this paper have examined living populations of Agarum species in the field on the different coasts of","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67435142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We calculated a coefficient of pollination deficit (D) and also estimated the values of ‘relative pollinator service (RPS)’ to determine primary polli nators of the plant species. The cultivar is fully self-compatible and produces protandric hermaphrodite flowers and male flowers with considerable amount of floral rewards. Several insects like honey bees, solitary bees, carpenter bees, flies and butterflies visited the flowers. Among those, primary pollinators were Halictus sp. and Nomia sp., and important secondary pollinators were Apis dorsata and Xylocopa fenestrata. Considering the visitors’ group, the cultivar is principally pollinated by solitary bees. Besides diverse floral visitors, the cultivar showed medium pollination deficit (D = 0.49) and resulting in low fruit-set. Furthermore, premature fruit abortion is also high in all pollination treatments which lead to a low fruit-set of this lemon variety in West Bengal. From Finland to Yakutia, with increasing climate continentality, the α- and γ-diversity of fungal communities decreases, but the β-diversity increases 1.7–5 times, which indicates an increase in the spatial isolation of local fungal communities. Similar trends have been found for other high-latitude regions: tundra and forest-tundra.","PeriodicalId":37724,"journal":{"name":"Botanica Pacifica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67435132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
