The attention is paid to technical aspects of using the website as a tool for enterprise allocation in a cross-border e-commerce market. For novices in web development, two options are suggested: Joomla, open-source content management systems (CMS), and its free hosting on Denwer, local server for Windows. The provided guidance with common steps of website design allows modelling the project of the site in a free environment. The final version of the site with the installed plug-ins, such as VirtueMart for online sales, can be easily transferred to the purchased hosting server. Its location can be found on the ground of principle of the proximity to the user/customer. It tends to be in the Sino-Russian cross-border e-commerce market that opens a new opportunity for international merchants, and though poses additional challenges.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81854921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research proposes a novel multi-method simulation approach which combines agent-based and discrete event modelling approaches to model a green closed-loop supply chain and optimise it through an optimisation via simulation technique. A closed-loop supply chain is developed under the demand uncertainty to minimise total cost and total greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions and maximise management preference of the supply chain in the presence of a competitor. Taguchi design of experiments method is used to generate scenarios, then total cost and total GHG emissions are recorded through simulating the scenarios. Management preference is determined based on decision makers' opinion. Scenarios are ranked against three attributes with the proposed panel-group TOPSIS method. Inventory replenishment parameters, pricing and advertising policies, and transportation type are determined via solving the model. An automotive industry case is provided to demonstrate the model's capabilities.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80924461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We examine the benefits of postponement under the influence of these factors, and we derive the necessary conditions for a strategic choice of both the 'postponement timing', (early or delayed differentiation) and the 'decoupling points', (early or late shipping) under decoupled and non-decoupled systems. The study shows when one type of the strategies is more beneficial than the other. Our analysis indicates that the boundaries of a delivery window, the point of differentiation, the point of export, the safety factor, and the relative production cost differences across countries play an important role under postponement. We use the production of Desk Jet printers at Hewlett Packard to illustrate the applicability of this model.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-32"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73253962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We consider the product with maximum fixed-life time deterioration as loss of utility is the real scenario of products like fruits, vegetables, juices, etc. Here, time dependent quadratic demand is discussed which is suitable for the products whose demand increases primarily and afterward it starts to decrease. First, we discuss the centralised inventory system in which supplier and retailers willingly take joint decision. Next we address the model with decentralised policy in which supplier and both retailers take individual decisions. The objective is to minimise the total cost in centralised and decentralised policy with respect to cycle times of supplier and two retailers. The model is supported with numerical examples. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to derive insights for decision-maker.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"83 1","pages":"33-48"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83366786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, at the upper level, macro-analysis of the eight Russian regions was conducted to estimate the potential of placing the unit on one of these. The location-selection decision was made via the most frequently used multi-criteria evaluation approach (AHP) based on the eight decision factors. At the second step, the analysis on micro-level was carried out to define the specific location within the selected region. In particular, the research looks at the industrial zone of Ust-Luga seaport located in the North-West region. The expected multiplicative effect, which can be derived from an integrated development of manufacturing and seaport as well as railways, was analytically evaluated. Application to the described agglomeration economies help to understand, why economic activity clusters together.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"8 1","pages":"67-89"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84937461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By both scenarios, disaster and logistical response, environment is further damaged as bulk of carbon emissions add up to the already fragile environmental health. This research explores the issues due to natural disasters and the response to these disasters, and to make the humanitarian logistics green so that further damage could be reduced. Since there exists a low quantity of literature regarding a green or sustainable humanitarian logistics, for the sake of comparison, the method of introduction of sustainable concepts in commercial logistics has been highlighted. Those very concepts which have common grounds with humanitarian logistics have been borrowed, restructured, and introduced particularly considering the constraints and resource availability faced during humanitarian operations. Debatable points have been extracted from the review of literature, organised into hypotheses, tested through the collection of data, and analysed through ANOVA. The major findings suggested to decrease the vehicle load volume which would result in an increase of vehicle fill-rate, and correspondingly less damage would be done to the environment due to the logistics.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"25 1","pages":"49-66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87677965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research paper examines the impact of information technology (IT) leveraged downstream supply chain capabilities on competitive marketing performance of Indian firms. A structural model has been developed using the primary data collected from 307 professionals, working in downstream supply chain functions, in Indian manufacturing firms, to assess the impact of IT on downstream supply chain capabilities that eventually translates into competitive marketing performance. The research findings support the hypotheses that the competitive business environment has led to a greater extent of usage of IT which in turn is positively associated with greater supply chain capabilities. These IT-leveraged supply chain capabilities lead to greater operational and strategic marketing benefits. These two first order benefits have a positive impact on competitive marketing performance of the firms.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"103 1","pages":"165-194"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80656137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Deteriorating products lose their quality over time, and their inventory and production models have specific characteristics, different from the classical models. JIT includes several shipments in small sizes from a supplier to a buyer. For the buyer, JIT results in a decrease in inventory holding costs. However, for the supplier, it causes an increase in the number of setups, which increases the total cost. Consequently, the supplier is reluctant to participate in the JIT system, unless his/her loss is compensated. We propose a surcharge pricing in which the buyer offers the supplier an additional increase in wholesale price, and in return, asks him/her to switch to the JIT system. Numerical analyses indicate that this scheme is capable of fully coordinating the SC. The proposed scheme also has positive environmental impacts which are investigated.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"453 1","pages":"146-164"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75111289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a comprehensive overview of the literature on supplier selection criteria and supplier evaluation approaches is presented. More than 25 major production, manufacturing, operations management, and control journals published in 1995-2018 are reviewed. The literature review is divided into three fields, namely criteria in supplier selection, approaches in supplier selection, and a summary of the survey. This work emphasises the historical progression in these fields and offers the latest findings in this area in an attempt to make it easier for supply chain and logistics engineers to find a convenient principle or technique for supplier selection in various scenarios. Finally, future research directions are suggested.","PeriodicalId":37630,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling","volume":"63 1","pages":"107-130"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75170754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
