Paper-pencil cognitive exercises or physical exercises with instruments still dominate over digital environments. However, they require constant supervision by professionals, whose availability is relatively decreasing in an ageing society. Lack of supervision, in turn, results in a loss of motivation to exercise or, at the very least, ineffective, sometimes incorrect, exercise. In addition, traditional rehabilitation mechanisms are often repetitive and tedious. Sometimes a lack of supervision or routine results in a failure to adapt the challenges to the user's current needs. \u0000Digital environments and modern technology have much to offer in this regard. One aspect is gamification mechanisms, which work well in video games and allow players to be engaged for hours in challenges of modulated difficulty. Another aspect is the rapidly developing biosensors and tracking systems that allow the user's activity and biophysiological parameters to be monitored in real time. However, the combination of the benefits of technology and gamification stimulus mechanisms must be done in strict accordance with the user's capabilities in order to make the challenges constructive rather than destructive for the user's body and mental conditions. Ongoing monitoring of effort and mental workload and their synchronization with fatigue in the digital environment, supported by motivational gamification mechanisms, form the foundation of the correct and controlled exercises and rehabilitation.","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89692325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a qualitative analysis, nine interviews were conducted with members of Generation Z, as well as a focus group discussion with six HR managers. Based on our research sample, both members of Generation Z and recruiters attach great importance to social media recruiting. Members of Generation Z can be characterized by their willingness to use social media, active sourcing, and the talent pool to actively support their job search. The social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, XING, and LinkedIn are identified as potential contact points for the generation. However, a discrepancy was uncovered between what HR managers expect in relation to the usage of social media for job searches and the actual passive use of social media for this purpose by Generation Z. In addition, a positive candidate journey and attention to various (passive) touch points are important for successful recruitment of Generation Z members. Due to the open attitude of the generation towards social media recruiting, they need to be made aware of this topic during their candidate journey.","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"51 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91155376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For many decades, services sector has been cyclically evolving and changing, which has lately accelerated particularly due to the strong influence of emerging technologies. Certain solutions became a thing of the past, some started to transform faster, while others emerged disturbingly, revolutionizing current state of art. The ways and modes services enable humans and technologies to interact and cocreate value have also started to take new, innovative and fascinating forms. Over the past years, global services market got centralized and technologically reshaped influencing lives of us all. Offshoring (global sourcing), enabled by cloud computing, made multiple transnational companies take advantage of migrating some operational processes to different locations (‘nearshore’ or ‘farshore’).","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87133863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Across industrial revolutions, its role has evolved from that of a simple tool used by humans to that of intelligent decision-maker and teammate. In the post-digital era where ongoing advances in artificial intelligence are widely visible, the question arises regarding the extent to which technology will be “upgraded” into roles previously filled by human supervisors, thereby replacing persons in managerial positions. This text aims to delineate how the organizational role of technology has been transformed across decades and the forms that it currently takes within companies, with an eye to the future. We draw on posthuman managerial literature and known cases of organizations where some forms of supervisory artificial intelligence are already used. The text is conceptual-reflective by nature; it seeks to initiate a discussion on the many challenges that humanity will face in connection with the deployment of empowered posthuman agents in companies.","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90318682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The term robot has a metaphorical meaning here – it is a special kind of software, not a device. Due to the fact that this is a new product category and many companies do not have extensive experience in this area yet, the use of the RPA tools is associated with many risks. At the same time, due to the increasingly competitive environment, it seems that there is no turning back from the implementation thereof. For this reason, two goals have been set in the article. The first is to build and verify a research model based on the TOE model (Technology-Organization-Environment), allowing for the identification of the determinants (drivers) influencing the assimilation of the robotic process automation by enterprises. The second goal is to develop recommendations for the managers responsible for implementing the RPA tools that will allow for increasing the assimilation of the robotic process automation. The following methods were used to accomplish these goals: literature research, a survey (conducted on 267 Polish enterprises) and statistical analysis (with the use of the structural equation models).","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"32 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72392915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many technological solutions are designed to satisfy the needs of older people living in cities. Humanoid robots are one of the technologies that can significantly improve the quality of life in older adults. The Rudy Robot is an example of a robot adapted to the needs of older people. The conducted research aimed to gain knowledge about the potential future use of the humanoid Rudy Robot by older adults in the context of smart living. The study mainly aimed to identify the robot’s most important functionalities that could improve older adults’ quality of life based on a literature review. In addition, the Rudy Robot was rated according to the most important criteria for evaluating the robot. The paper also examined whether age, sex, education and place of residence affect the assessment of the Rudy Robot technology. It should be noted that this technology is not available in Poland but has become known due to television, the Internet, etc. Respondents received a description of this technology, examples of use, and links to literature and films together with the questionnaire; thus, they knew what the Rudy Robot was and its characteristics, possibilities and potential.","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"92 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80600506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the main concepts of these changes is the automation and robotization of business processes. The design, implementation and use of solutions in this field require appropriate skills. Therefore, it is necessary to identify gaps in digital skills and reduce them with adequate training and development. The main objective of the paper is to identify both current gaps and future needs for digital design skills to support and understand the automation of business processes. A survey was carried out in manufacturing companies from six European countries. Its results have enabled us to create a future-oriented digital design competence framework that addresses the requirements of process design and automation in the Factory of the Future.","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79552828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of this study is to propose a classification model along with all preprocessing and feature extraction steps, able to produce satisfying results while maintaining near real time performance. The proposed solutions are tested on an EEG signal dataset, containing left/right hand motor imagery movement experiments performed by 52 subjects. Performance of different models is measured using accuracy score and execution time both in the testing and training phase. In conclusion, one model is proposed as optimal with respect to the requirements of potential patient rehabilitation procedures.","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72638348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, the ergonomic parameters are set in line with the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept. The paper highlights the link between virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), when combined with the traditional ergonomic procedure.  Automation and digitization contribute to a significant extent to the creation of ergonomic workplaces and the elimination of the negative effects of non-ergonomic workplaces on people. The aim of the paper is to determine the essential elements of the system process approach to ergonomics management. This is achieved through an analysis of the current approaches from Industry 4.0 and a focus on the augmented reality approach. The backbone of the triple combination of \"man-machine-environment\" determines the ergonomic setting of work and the workplace. Subsequently, the presented case study examines the link between ergonomic workplace principles and data analytics for VR/AR technology. The scientific contribution of the paper lies in the discussion of the case study results, which is beneficial for the ergonomic design of workplaces.","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83170734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data, collected from the retired Internet users (62 and older) residing in seven countries (N = 5713), were analyzed using logistic and linear regression models. The results show that education and age predicted the engagement in social uses in the most consistent way. A number of social uses positively related to both life and health satisfaction. Of the particular uses, e-mailing and instant messaging were positively associated with life and health satisfaction. The results imply that socio-demographic background predicts the engagement in social uses of mobile phone in later life, that the engagement in such uses plays an overall significant role in wellbeing in later life, and that some particular uses play a greater role than others in this regard.","PeriodicalId":37614,"journal":{"name":"Human Technology","volume":"65 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81958541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
