Strengthening moderate Islam in early childhood must be carried out from an early age through educational arrangements that are programmed and adapted to the stages of child development characteristics so that children have moderate values and prevent children from having radical ideas later in life. The purpose of this study was to determine the strength of religious moderation in early childhood as an effort to prevent radicalism during the Covid-19 pandemic. The golden period of early childhood is the most appropriate time to implement the values of religious moderation so that later a strong Islamic foundation is formed in children so that they can ward off radicalism in the future. During this pandemic, learning activities, especially to strengthen understanding of religious moderation in schools, are carried out online or blended learning which is a combination of face-to-face and the use of information technology in implementation. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Mile and Huberman model, namely data reduction, display, and verification. The results of this study indicate that strengthening religious moderation in early childhood is an effort to prevent radicalism during the Covid-19 pandemic. The strengthening of religious moderation consists of four components, namely instilling national commitment, tolerance, introducing and preserving local culture, and anti-violence. The research subjects are non-Muslim customers who carry out financial transactions, both funding, and lending at Bank Syariah Indonesia Nganjuk Branch Office. Philip Kottler and Armstrong state that there are five indicators that influence the decision to transact in Islamic banking, namely problem recognition, information seeking, evaluation of alternatives, buying decisions, and post-purchase behavior. Religion is the relationship between creatures and their God, which is manifested in their inner attitude and is seen in the worship they do, and is also reflected in their daily attitudes, including in choosing decisions to make financial transactions in banking that are not in accordance with their religion. The approach in this study is a qualitative approach using field research, with data collection techniques using interviews. The discovery of local wisdom in the communication aspect is often found in the works of Indonesian scholars. In some cases, the archipelago aspect also influenced their intellectual works. For example, The book of fiqh entitled Majmūʻat al-Syarīʻah al-Kāfiyah li al-ʻawām by Kiai Sholeh Darat, was written using the coastal model of Javanese language (al-lughah al-Jawiyyah al-merikiyyah). Kiai Sholeh Darat's choice of the Javanese language as a means of communication became his literacy vision with the hope that the Javanese people at that time could understand and easily follow the message of the book. In addition to the language aspect, the local wisdom appears in the appearance and explanation aspects. Kiai Sholeh Darat chose to use the pegon script to interpret the book. However, not all pesantrens act as they think and accuse. There are still a lot of pesantrens that remain consistent in instilling the values of Islam’s moderation in their students to this day, including Pondok Modern Arrisalah, one of pesantrens in Ponorogo that has implemented multicultural Islamic education because it has many students with different backgrounds in terms of region, ethnicity, language, culture, and class. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of multicultural Islamic education at Pondok Modern Arrisalah Slahung Ponorogo as an effort to strengthen the moderation vision of Islam to its students. The researcher in this case used the type of field research and a qualitative descriptive approach. The research data were collected through interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini memanfaatkan data yang berasal dari siswa minoritas di SMAN 1 Menganti Gresik. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara dan dilengkapi dokumentasi yang relevan. Penelitian ini melihat bahwa agama memainkan peranan penting dalam proses adaptasi yang dilakukan oleh siswa minoritas, yang ditunjukkan melalui proses komunikasi yang lebih mendalam antara siswa minoritas dan mayoritas di sela-sela jam belajar mereka. Penelitian ini juga melihat adanya modal komunikasi selain agama, sebagai komunikasi pembukaan tingkat permukaan seperti komunikasi atas dasar kesukaan dan tingkat chemistry di antara mereka. Jalan hidup dalam kedamaian yang ditawarkan bahkan sangat sesuai dengan nama yang disandangnya yakni Islam yang bermakna “selamat” dan “damai”. Ke-Islaman seseorang yang telah diikrarkan dalam jiwa dan pemikirannya sepatutnya mengantarkannya menjadi duta perdamaian dimanapun dalam kondisi apapun. Dalam kenyataannya, ajaran damai dalam Islam acapkali disalahartikan oleh sebagian pemeluknya. Terdapat kelompok dalam Islam yang mengimplementasikan ajaran Islam dengan perangai yang sangat kaku dan kasar, memonopoli kebenaran agama dari perspektif kelompoknya saja. Pada titik tertentu, cara beragama yang mengedepankan kepongahan dan arogansi seperti ini, akan menjebak seseorang dalam perilaku ekstrimisme. Ekstrimisme sendiri terdiri dari tiga unsur; ekstrimisme ideologi, ekstrimisme takfiri dan ekstrimisme jihadis. Ketiganya merupakan benalu bagi kelangsungan peradaban umat manusia. Maka dari itu, konsep “damai” dalam beragama harus terus menerus diberikan penggung yang luas. Agar konsep ini mendapatkan legitimasi yang kokoh, maka harus digagas sebuah konstruksi pemikiran yang bersumber dari kitab suci Alquran. Dalam tulisan ini, penulis menyajikan ayat-ayat Alquran yang berperspektif perdamaian dan moderasi beragama serta multikulturalisme sebagai landasan untuk membangun kontra-narasi terhadap merebaknya fenomena keberagamaan yang anti keragaman dan berujung pada sikap ekstrimisme. Sudah menjadi keharusan bagi umat manusia sebagai “pengguna” kitab untuk membumikan kalam tersebut agar tujuan diciptakannya manusia sebagai khalifah fil ardl. Khalifah yang dikehendaki Tuhan tentu bukanlah sekelompok manusia beringas yang gemar menebar ancaman dan ketakutan kepada sesama manusia. In addition, most of the books used are only printed books with unattractive designs. For this reason, it is necessary to develop the process through development research (R&D) whose procedure uses the Plomp design (2010) with 5 stages, namely: 1) investigation, 2) design, 3) construction, 4) evaluation, 5) implementation.
