In this paper, we derive a new quasi-Newton equation with a gradient-difference vector which makes full use of both function and gradient value information. The novelty of our method is established on the quadratic approximation of objection function. We analyze the convergence rate of the gradient method under some mild condition. However, the implementation of these filters in real time systems involves the complexity of implementation as floating numbers calculation and division. In this paper, the implementation of two smoothing filters, Mean and Gaussian is achieved using FPGA Spartan 3E device. The implementation was performed in a simplified and way that does not require division, and resultant images were displayed on LCD using configured VGA ports. Azba, Bayan Alnuman","doi":"10.1109/IEC52205.2021.9476139","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/IEC52205.2021.9476139","url":null,"abstract":"This study aimed to investigate the mechanical and electrochemical properties of concrete that uses recycled brick aggregate (RBA) as a substitute for natural coarse aggregate (NCA). The study focusses on the workability, compressive strength and the electrical resistivity of concrete made with RBA. To test the effects of incorporating RBA on the properties of concrete, 6 different mixes were made with increasing incorporation percentages (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%). It was found that the negative effect of RBA on the workability of concrete can be negated using additives such as plasticizers. The study also showed that the compressive strength of concrete was reduced from 54 MPa for control specimens to 30 MPa at 100% replacement of RBA (44% reduction). No significant reduction in strength was observed in RBA replacement range between 60 to 100%. Additionally, the study showed that a harsh environment with high chlorideion concentration has no negative impact on the compressive strength of concrete. Finally, the results of the electrical resistivity (ER) test showed that higher RBA% tend to decrease the ER of concrete both immediately and over-time. Remote sensing technology is used to carry out bathymetric inversion to make up for the deficiency of traditional oceanographic measurement to some extent. Based on the in-situ measured water depth data and Sentinel-2A multispectral image, the water depth inversion of Lingshui-Sanya coast is studied. Through correlation analysis of sentinel-2A images and measured data, ratio model, logarithm model and ratio logarithm model were constructed by selecting blue, green and red wavelengths with high correlation, and accuracy verification was carried out for these three models. The results show that the ratio model has the highest correlation coefficient with high accuracy, but the ratio logarithm model has a better fitting effect in the inversion of water depth over three meters. A significant part of the functionality of MAC protocols is implemented to find out which duty cycling may influence the performance of WSN and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Therefore, we propose a Markov chain-model to analyze and evaluate the QoS parameters. Our proposed model addresses the effect of a hidden sensors on the network performance through periodically switched off/on the radio cycling covered in MAC layer of IEEE 802.15.4 communication stack. The analytical model provides the estimated values of QoS parameters in terms of delay and throughput. These values describe the synchronized MAC protocols before and after saturates with different sensor density deployment and network parameters in terms of transmission range, time slot frame, and contention windows size. Our analytical, as well as simulation results, show the values of delay and throughput are nearly suitable with low sensor density deployment. Any stakeholders have found out that the approved spectrum is not in operation all the time/locations. To maximize spectrum usage, SUs are enabled to get access to frequency bands already allocated to PUs while they are not using it, under the condition that the SUs do not interact with the PU. To avoid interference to the PU, the SU CR faces a difficult task, i.e., detecting the existence of the PU signal in low-SNR (negative dB) area. This is due to signal attenuation due to multipath and shadowing that can occur before the signal hits the SU. For sensing, the energy detectors are commonly used, but they suffer from the noise uncertainty issue in such noise conditions. The SNR wall is the operating threshold at which image identification is no longer possible. This ambiguity is due to how imprecise the calculations of noise variance are over time, and due to the changing noise variance. An approach of qualitative research was adopted for collecting and analyzing data. Multiple methods were used for collecting data and information, including interviews, observations, and analysis of organizational documents. The findings demonstrated that a balance between people-based and explicit knowledge-based approaches are required to effectively manage knowledge in organizations. Furthermore, fourteen factors affect knowledge management in the MHCB. They include individual and organizational factors in addition to factors relevant to knowledge and its management. The main factors that differentiate knowledge management in historic building conservation organizations are the type of knowledge, the proximity of the organization’s headquarters to Historic Buildings and, the external sources of knowledge in addition to the social/religious factor. The proposed model for studying and understanding knowledge management in historic buildings organizations provides a base reference for similar organizations. These gene expressions are being used to detect various forms of diseases. The problem is not all genes are important; some genes can be redundant or irrelevant. These irrelevant genes add a computational workload to the prediction process. Therefore, this study aims at (1) identifying the most important genes that cause of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) by using feature (gene) selection to reduce the high-dimensional data size. Hence, a process for gene selection is twofold; removing the irrelevant genes and selecting the informative genes, and (2) predicting AD patients based on the selected subset of genes. In this paper, gene selection methods have been implemented, including Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Mutual Information (MI). In addition to, the k-means algorithm as a gene selection has been suggested. It is also presumed that the relevant genes have been existed in a same cluster, while the insignificant genes are really not belonging to the any cluster. The proposed system is applied on a high dimensional dataset namely AD dataset that contains 16382 genes. After picking the informative genes, prediction is performed with Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) that is commonly used in multiple prediction tasks. The proposed system performance was evaluated using the accuracy of the prediction. The results show that k-means clustering based gene selection can be performed to produce subset of key genes. The k-means algorithm with CNN model returns 0.929 accuracy based on genes subset from ANOVA method while k-means algorithm and CNN model achieve 0.886 accuracy based on genes subset from MI method.
