{"title":"THE IMPLEMENTATION OF FIVE RIGHTS MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION BY NURSES AT A PRIVATE HOSPITAL IN WESTERN INDONESIA","authors":"Ineke Patrisia","doi":"10.19166/nc.v10i2.5377","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.19166/nc.v10i2.5377","url":null,"abstract":"This study aimed to observe how nurses implement the five rights. The initial survey of ten nurses in an inpatient department showed 50% did not adhere to hospital standard operating procedure when administrating the drugs to patients, and majority had never performed five rights check before, which harmful to patients. This study used a quantitative descriptive method. The sample for this study was a purposive sampling, researchers have observed 33 nurses from three departements including Emergency, Inpatient, and Intensive Care Unit departements at one private hospital in Indonesia. A standard operating procedure for hospital was used as an instrument. Researchers observed nurses without letting them knoe when the day observing would begin. 84.85% of them have worked more than a year in the hospital. 18.18% of nurses did not check the right patient, 12.12% did not check the right drug, 18.18% did not check the right dose, 9.09% did not give the medication at the right time, and 3.03% did not give the medicine with the right route. Most nurses followed hospital standard operating procedures by implementing all five rights checjs before administrating the medications to patients. In October 2021, the Covid-19 death rate in Indonesia reached 143,077. Multiple efforts such as physical distancing, hands washing, mask usage, and COVID-19 vaccinations were used to reduce the number of cases. The acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia depended on people’s  knowledge, attitude, and behavior towards the program. The research was to identify a knowledge, attitude, and behavior of COVID-19 vaccination among people living in the Nifukani village, West Amanuban sub-district. The study used a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 302 respondents. The validity test using Pearson Product Moment was declared valid with the results of r-count>r-table 0.3494. The reliability test was declared reliable with Cronbach Alpha values of 0.682 and 0.721. The data were then analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that the respondents had poor knowledge of Covid-19 (70.9%), good attitudes (56.3%), and good behavior (90.1%). The stakeholders, thus, had to increase people’s knowledge on Covid-19 vaccination either by leaflets, posters, or collaborating with local institutions to conduct community education. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK COVID-19 merupakan penyakit yang menyerang sistem pernapasan yang mencetak angka kematian 143.077 pada Oktober 2021 di Indonesia. Upaya yang dilakukan dalam menurunkan kejadian COVID-19 adalah menjaga jarak, mencuci tangan, menggunakan masker, dan vaksin COVID-19. Penerimaan vaksin COVID-19 di Indonesia berkaitan dengan tingkat pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku masyarakat terhadap program vaksinasi COVID-19. Tujuannya mengidentifikasi gambaran pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku masyarakat terhadap vaksinasi COVID-19 di desa Nifukani kecamatan Amanuban Barat. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian 302 responden. Uji validitas dengan Pearson Product Moment dinyatakan valid dengan hasil r-hitung>r-tabel 0,3494. Uji reliabilitas dinyatakan reliabel dengan nilai Cronbach Alpha 0,682 dan 0,721. Blended learning is a combination of online learning and face-to-face learning models.  Faculty of Nursing at one private university in Tangerang, is currently developing a blended learning model. The learning is applied to several subjects including Emergency and Critical Care and Disaster Management courses. When the pandemic hit Indonesia, the education system suddenly shifted to online learning. It then pushed students and teachers to master the use of technology, in order to ensure the effectiveness of its implementation. It is indeed significant, given that there are several challenges with a blended learning model, such as internet connection, inadequate facilities or devices, and students’ tendency to procrastinate. It is also important to know students’ perception toward blended learning for the better implementation in the future. This study sought  to explore the motivation of nursing students at one private university in Tangerang toward blended learning. To achieve the objective, a descriptive quantitative research method was utilized. The sample consisted of 207 third year nursing students who learned with a blended learning method. The data were collected using The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) in May 2020 by online survey form. The data were then analyzed using univariate analysis. Nowadays, the age of menarche is decreasing which then brings serious impacts in most developing countries, such as the unpreparedness of children to face menarche, early marriage, and the incidence of premarital sex.. This study aims to explore the changes experienced by adolescent girls of school age before and after menarche. This research used a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. There were six participants involved in this study that were taken using the purposive sampling technique and snowball sampling. Data were collected directly using in-depth interviews for 30 minutes on April 2021. There were four themes identified from the thematic analysis, those were, (1) Physical Changes, Emotional Changes, Positive Changes, and Negative Changes. Various changes were experienced by school-age girls at the time of menarche. Children experience faster growth in various body systems. In addition to physical growth, children's emotions also become unstable when experiencing menarche. Children also experience positive and negative attitude changes at the time of menarche. Five Moments Hand Hygiene is one of strategy for health workers to keep safe from infections. Knowledge and attitudes by nurses about hand hygiene can influence nurse behavior and have an impact to improving patient health for reducing the spread of infection. To describe the level of knowledge and attitudes of nurses in applying the Five Moments Hand Hygiene in a Private Hospital in Wester part of Indonesia. This study used descriptive quantitative with the population are all nurses and the sample in this study were 46 nurses with total sampling technique. The instrument in the study used a questionnaire with level of knowledge and nurse attitude as variables. The data analysis technique is univariate. This study used ethical principles and has received ethical approval from The Research Committee Ethic Faculty of Nursing. The study shows  that nurses had a good (80,43%) knowledge of Five Moments Hand Hygiene but had a sufficient (54,35%) attitude in applying the Five Moments Hand Hygiene. Conclusion of this study is that most nurses have good knowledge but have sufficient attitude in applying Five Moments Hand Hygiene. Children and adolescents can experience chronic pain due to the type of disease they suffer from such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, sickle cell anemia, cancer, spina bifida, hemophilia, and others. The complexity of chronic pain requires a quantifiable and valid assessment in order to evaluate comprehensive pain management. One method of assessing pain in children that can incorporate technological advances is the use of an electronic pain diary. The use of this technology can be applied to clinical practice for pain assessment that has a proven quality index. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of electronic pain diaries in the assessment of chronic pain in children from various article sources. The method used in this systematic literature review process is a simplified approach. The databases used in the literature search consisted of Science Direct, Proquest, Scopus, Ebsco, Scholar, Wiley, and Pubmed. Inclusion criteria are articles in full text, in Indonesian and English, year of publication for the last five years from 2017 to 2021. Exclusion criteria are article topics on electronic health records, article topics on portable monitors, and literature review articles. During the search process, the author uses several keywords such as; “electronic pain diary”, pediatric pain assessment, pain diary. The search found eight articles with the result that the pain assessment method in children can be collaborated with technology, namely the electronic pain diary. Deviceelectronic pain diary can assist in the treatment process for chronic pain in children and canused as a standard in collecting data related to chronic pain experienced by children and adolescents. The device has been integrated with a software program that has been adapted to the age and development of children and adolescents. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK Nyeri merupakan bentuk pengalaman sensorik dan emosional yang tidak menyenangkan dan berhubungan dengan adanya suatu jaringan yang mengalami kerusakan secara aktual maupun potensial. Untuk mendokumentasikan dan mengobati nyeri kronis secara efektif membutuhkan cara pengukuran yang valid dan dapat digunakan dalam praktik klinik. Penggunaan electronic pain diary ini menjadi salah satu  inovasi modern  yang memiliki kemudahan pemantauan data elektronik untuk  mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memperburuk atau menghilangkan rasa nyeri, serta mendorong pasien atau dokter untuk memodifikasi pengobatan dan lebih memahami gejala dan manajemen nyeri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penggunaan electronic pain diary dalam pengkajian nyeri kronis pada anak  dari berbagai sumber artikel. Metode yang digunakan dalam proses pencarian kajian literatur sistematik ini dengan pendekatan simplified approach.
