This holds implications for international business as the philosophers selected as the basis of ethics are informed by culture. Business publications provide a source for exploring this phenomenon. Articles from the CNKI database were downloaded and analyzed in KNIME. An author-created ontology was used to identify business ethics articles. Corpus linguistic techniques established philosophical sediments. From a Marxian perspective Marx and Mao Zedong figured prominently, where Plato and Aristotle were frequent non-Marxian philosophers. A Mann-Whitney U test showed the median frequency of Marxian philosophers is significantly greater than Non-Marxists. Dyadic analysis revealed more frequent reference to socialism over capitalism. These results suggest the philosophical sediments of these articles rest primarily on Marxian philosophers and collectivist constructs. As nations increasingly use Artificial Intelligence, they will use different philosophical lenses engendering distinctive results culminating in dissimilar system-level outcomes.","PeriodicalId":373087,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Responsible Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128729379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given Nietzsche's prominence in modern and postmodern thought, his constructions of power are relevant for understanding broader implications of ethics in the context of business. In this paper, the corpus linguistics techniques of type-token ratios (TTR), sentiment analysis, clustering, and concordancing enabled an assessment of Nietzsche's uses of power and the establishment of points of consistency and divergence among his fourteen major philosophical works. The results suggest that Nietzsche's posthumous manuscript, The Will to Power, is significantly different from the other 13 works in terms of its focus on power. Additionally, his later works are richer in textual variety (as measured by TTR) than his early and middle works. Through the concordance analysis, the authors identified themes in Nietzsche's use of power, which provides a fulcrum for understanding potential linkages between Nietzschean power as well as his popularized, social-media presence, and implications for international business ethics.","PeriodicalId":373087,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Responsible Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130104797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its tourism industry has virtually gone into extinction in addition to the challenges of human, arms, and drugs trafficking; money laundering; child soldiers; and internally displaced persons in the region. All these take place while the country is also confronting the challenges of corruption. In what ways has Muhammadu Buhari administration tried to free Nigeria from terrorism and corruption? How are the challenges of terrorism and corruption tied to the development of the country? What role can Islamic leadership model play in bringing an end to these multifarious challenges ravaging the country? This complicated state of affairs—in professional practice and architectural design—is evaluated based on a bibliographical review of the visions of some Arab and Western thinkers. This review passes through the analysis of three intellectual movements: modernism, postmodernism, and the new brutalism. A series of questions arises: How is it determined whether any of these principles are moral or immoral? Does a specific principle override other beliefs? Who decides that any building is ethical or unethical? This article shows that some conclusions can be drawn from human values to act as a guide for creating a superior design but not for a “stately” design. Critically, it emerges that there is no so-called ethical architecture, but rather, ethics is always related to professional practice. This means that the construction of a building is governed by ideas and design criteria while professional practice is guided by ethical /moral principles.","PeriodicalId":373087,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Responsible Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116011927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Business leaders are increasingly held accountable for their actions and non-actions in relation to all stakeholders, both internal and external. The emerging challenges faced by business organizations today include economic, social, and environmental demands; globalization; rapid population growth; natural resources exploitation; extreme poverty and debt; global migration; unprecedented inequality; global migration; geopolitical and ecological crises; climate change and other environmental issues; competitive pressure; health issues; new information and communication technologies; and sustainable lifestyles. Responsible leadership represents a new type of leadership, which is better positioned to address these challenges through stakeholder consideration and in the context of sustainable development. Building on existing literature, the aim of this article is to present a conceptual framework of responsible leadership as a potential determinant of stakeholders' health and well-being.","PeriodicalId":373087,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Responsible Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130372785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One way is to define the integrity of a negotiation by how much buyers or sellers can be trusted: “Are they lying? Do they overpromise or under-deliver?” Despite this initial assessment, negotiators cannot accurately predict business outcomes, such as actual risks, quality or satisfaction with end products/services. Therefore, trust is a key element to facilitate the negotiation process in the early stages of deliberation. In this chapter, we will explore the application of ethical values as a trust-building formula to aid in international negotiations. Furthermore, we propose a role-based, trust-building, ethical approach tailored to the negotiator's needs. Only within an ethical framework, can trust become the cornerstone of a relationship that will genuinely service both negotiating parties and society.","PeriodicalId":373087,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Responsible Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122034474","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These secrets revealed the existence and purpose of numerous government mass-surveillance programs, which were developed to gather, retain, and analyze electronic information not only on a nationwide scale but also on a global scale. Due to his actions, some would describe Snowden as a villain or traitor, while others would describe him as a hero or patriot. After the release of information about large government surveillance programs, there are varied opinions as to whether this had a reforming effect on our society from a technical and legislative standpoint. However, there has been very little focus on whether the absence or presence of these changes has any correlation or effect on what we think about it ethically. This research is intended to discuss if the results of Edward Snowden's actions had an impact on cybertechnology and legislation due to the ethical considerations surrounding it.","PeriodicalId":373087,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Responsible Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131679977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article presents a review of the literature and experiential information relating to human and organizational behavior and boardroom best practices. The study shows how the mix of status and personality characteristics with opposing motivational forces resulted in boardroom balkanization and high turnover. In response to the research questions, personal observation, notes, communications, and public records were used to gather the data which were analyzed and compared inferentially for behaviors prejudicial to group harmony. This study used third-party participant observation to examine decision-making behavior in forming a model of reality and moral reasoning reflective of the ethical dilemmas faced by study participants.
