With regard to the controversial discussions about the theatre, several positions can be identified: either is leisure equated with idleness, or the two are clearly seperated from each other or the one is instrumentalized in order to fight the other. In the practice of neoclassical theatre, however, the moral censure of idleness inspired by a new ethics of work that implies the enhancement of leisure as a well deserved rest and revitalization prevails. In any case, the negotiations between leisure and idleness within the theoretical discussions of the theatre and its realization in practice during the second half of the eighteenth century turn out to be an important indicator of the ethic, aesthetic and social changes that mark the epoch.","PeriodicalId":37303,"journal":{"name":"Cuadernos Dieciochistas","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42757681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the very first moment it became a luxury object coveted by the wealthiest customers. In the 18th century luxury and precision became associated. Clocks became an essential object for the daily life. The Spanish kings, as well as the rest of the European royalty, became great owners and collectors of these objects. They invested in expensive clocks produced with gold and silver, enriched with gemstones and signed by the best European clockmakers. Most of them were supplied by traders and ambassadors from London and Paris. The accounts registered on the national treasury are the best way to became acquainted with these acquirements.","PeriodicalId":37303,"journal":{"name":"Cuadernos Dieciochistas","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41505612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was later on with Charles IV and Maria Luisa, interested by the new esthetic currents, when they introduced the Pompeian styles in their countryside residences. The arrival of the plaster casts from the Herculanese Museum in 1765, of the volumes of Le Antichita di Ercolano and finally the so-called Servizio Ercolanese, served as a reference to Spanish artists who at that time continued to resort to classical and renaissance sources such as the frescoes of the Domus Aurea and Raphael’s Vatican Loggias. Por un aficionado, written by the Castellon-born Jose March y Borras, a work not well known until the present, and not mentioned between the creations that historically dealt with those same issues. In this article, the Dialogo tragico is framed in the dramatic tradition in which it is inserted; it is dentified the group of works of the Enlightenment to which it belongs, and the historic literary genre that is its own; the data that is preserved about its unknown author is provided; the composition received by the same is studied; information are rescued about the printers who made it known in their century; and a modern edition of it is made, in order to make it available to interested readers. This new dimension took home as a stage for everyday life, an environment of representation assembled under the dictates of «good taste» and fashion. Never before it had been more necessary to keep abreast of fashion developments and the press played an important role in the diffusion of them, helping us in the rediscovery of those disappeared contexts. From the Diario de Madrid it is possible to know and understand the importance that ornamenting had among those people who wanted to be part of modern life. This eagerness promoted both, production and trade of arts and manufactures beyond the Fine Arts.","PeriodicalId":37303,"journal":{"name":"Cuadernos Dieciochistas","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48443268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
