Moreover, it has other human health benefits. The cyanobacterium Nostoc sp. has been shown to produce bioactive compounds and plant growth regulators like indol acetic acid (IAA), which regulates various aspects of plant growth and development. This research aimed to study the effects of Nostoc sp. extract (NTE) supplement concentration in liquid medium on Brahmi survival rate, growth parameters, and saponin content. The experiments were designed using randomized complete block design with five treatments and three replications, including Bristol’s medium (BT), pH 6.0 (control solution), and BT with four concentrations of NTE: 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, and 1.0%(w/v). The results indicated that IAA was found to increase with increase in NTE concentration. The IAA concentration in 1.0%(w/v) NTE was 43.56±3.21 pmol.mg-1 Ch-a. NTE supplementation at 0.001%, and 0.01%(w/v) had no negative effect on Brahmi survival rate, while the Brahmi survival rate decreased with increase in NTE concentration up to 0.1% (w/v). The optimal NTE concentration for Brahmi growth was 0.01%(w/v), which produced the highest shoot number, shoot height, root number, root length, leaf number, and chlorophyll content. Brahmi grown under all treatments was extracted and determined for the saponin content. The results showed that the levels of saponin from Brahmi grown in 0.01%(w/v) NTE had increased by two-fold over the control. This study showed that NTE supplementation enhanced the growth and saponin levels of Brahmi and NTE could be used as bio-promoting agent for plant growth and development.","PeriodicalId":36974,"journal":{"name":"Current Applied Science and Technology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42165469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So far, a lot of research has been conducted on the biological effects of fucoidan extracted from various species of seaweed. However, the effects of partially purified extract of Sargassum angustifolium (PPE-SA) on wound healing (cell migration) of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) have not yet been studied. In this experimental study, crude fucoidan was extracted from S. angustifolium using an advanced method. After removing lipids, pigments and low molecular weight compounds with ethanol and removal of alginate with CaCl2, polysaccharides in the remaining material were extracted with hot water (60ºC). The polysaccharides of the resulting extract were precipitated with ethanol. Then, the wound healing and safety of PPE-SA on ADMSCs were investigated by MTT and the scratch assay, respectively. The MTT assay showed that PPE-SA did not only have a negative effect on the growth of mesenchymal cells but at some concentrations improved their growth by up to 1.5 times. The PPE-SA also increased ADMSCs migration by 76% and 142% after 48 h and 72 h incubation, which showed the superiority of this seaweeds extract over many other reported species and genera. The results of this study showed that an extract of this seaweed obtained by this method has the potential to promote the growth of mesenchymal stem cells and may have a high potential for use in tissue engineering applications.","PeriodicalId":36974,"journal":{"name":"Current Applied Science and Technology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48905375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, the process consumes a lot of energy and time to complete the soil tillage practices. A disk plow with triple disks was tested in one of the Agriculture and Forestry college plantations at the University of Mosul during season 2013. The research included two soil moisture contents (10.7 and 16.2%), and three distances between the inner disk face and the scraper (2, 4, and 6 cm). Besides, two forward speeds for the tractor (2.29 and 5.85 km/h) were used. The disk plow test was adopted to evaluate the energy consumed, the specific energy, the volume of soil pulverized, and the soil adhesion on the disks. The test also evaluated the ratio of soil overturn, the lateral soil transfer, and the number of soil clods bigger than 10 cm/m2. The data were analyzed with the statistic randomized complete block design (RCBD) using the split-split plots system. The results indicated significant differences with the factor level of soil moisture 10.7% with the first scraper position of 2 cm, and forward speed of 5.85 km/h, and for the traits of soil adhesion and lateral soil transfer, which were 0.11 N/m2 and 170.33 cm, respectively. On the other hand, there were no statistical significant differences in the traits of energy consumed, specific energy, volume of soil pulverized, soil overturn, and number of soil clods bigger than 10 cm/m2. The consumed energy, specific energy, and number of soil clods decreased, while the volume of pulverized soils and soil overturn ratio increased, at soil moisture 16.2% with the same levels of treatment.","PeriodicalId":36974,"journal":{"name":"Current Applied Science and Technology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49369256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Physical self-cleaning refers to the lotus effect, which relates to the hydrophobic properties of the textile. Chemical self-cleaning is the degradation of color stains, discolored solutions and other organic species that come into contact with textiles. The last is biological self-cleaning, which is the ability to kill bacteria that become attached to the textiles. In this research, the development of all three self-cleaning properties of polyester textile coated with zinc oxide nanoparticles/ polydimethylsiloxane (ZnO/ PDMS) composite was focused. The ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized by a hydrothermal process, which involved blending PDMS with various concentrations of ZnO nanoparticles. The polyester textile was coated with ZnO/ PDMS composite solution via a dip coating technique done with various dipping times. The lotus effect, which depends on hydrophobic properties, was analyzed by water contact angle measurement. The chemical self-cleaning of the polyester textile was examined by photocatalytic methylene blue dye degradation with UV-Vis spectrometry. The inhibition zone of antibacterial activity was tested via disc diffusion technique. From these results, it was found that the polyester textile coated with ZnO/PDMS composite demonstrated all self-cleaning properties, physical, chemical and biological, in a significantly way.","PeriodicalId":36974,"journal":{"name":"Current Applied Science and Technology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41772189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One hundred and eighty-five macrofungi samples were collected from the survey routes in 2021. The macrofungi with different morphologies were selected to perform molecular identification by sequence analysis of ITS. A total of 41 samples of representative macrofungi were classified into 2 phyla, 5 classes, 11 orders, 21 families, and 34 genera. The macrofungi were found to be in the phylum Basidiomycota (35 taxa, 85.4%), the family Polyporaceae (10 taxa, 24.4%), and Microporus xanthopus was the most frequently found species in every month of samples collection. Their role in the ecosystem was saprotroph (40 taxa, 97.6%), symbiotroph (7 taxa, 17.0%), and pathotroph (4 taxa, 9.8%). In addition, there was no published information about the edibility of many of the macrofungi (29 taxa, 70.7%); however, some edible (8 taxa, 19.5%) and poisonous macrofungi (4 taxa, 9.8%) had previously been reported. Interestingly, some macrofungi samples need more investigation for further identification, and additional genes may be required for the study.","PeriodicalId":36974,"journal":{"name":"Current Applied Science and Technology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41415045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To estimate the crop water requirements of potato, chili, and brinjal, the FAO-CROPWAT model was used. The climatic parameters like rainfall, solar radiation, wind speed, sun hours, relative humidity, minimum and maximum temperature were collected for 30 years from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) to estimate the crop water requirement (CWR). The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was computed by using the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)-recommended Penman-Monteith method and was found to vary from 1.84 mm/day to 4.49 mm/day. The calculated ETo was further used to compute the CWR, the net irrigation requirement (NIR), and the gross irrigation requirement (GIR) to plan for irrigation application during the growing stages of the selected crops. The total CWR of potato, chili, and brinjal was estimated to be 260.6 mm, 262.1 mm, and 274.2 mm, respectively, and the total NIR of potato, chili, and brinjal sowed on the 1st of October was found to be 162.8 mm, 149.0 mm, and 167.2 mm, respectively, with an irrigation efficiency of 70%. In December, the CWR and NIR of potato and brinjal were found to be the highest. The month with the least effective rainfall (8.5 mm) was December. The findings of the study showed that efficient irrigation water management and irrigation scheduling can be achieved by using the CROPWAT model to maximize crop yield and minimize crop water stress.","PeriodicalId":36974,"journal":{"name":"Current Applied Science and Technology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44065688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If the plants receive an insufficient amount of P, growth and yield may be reduced. We conducted a pot experiment to investigate the responses of two cultivars of dwarf yard-long beans (KKU25 and CLGC30), and the effects of the application of P fertilizer (0 and 150 kg/ha) on the growth, yield, nutrient values, P uptake and partitioning after harvesting in two soil series [Tha rua (Tr) and Ayutthaya (Ay) soil]. Our results demonstrated that the application of P fertilizer in soil with low available P (Tr soil) produced a significant difference in the yield and yield component of the plants. Pod tissue was an important source of P in the plants at maturity. The results also showed that over 40% of P was accumulated in the pod tissue. The CLGC30 variety showed higher total P uptake in plant tissue than that of the KKU25. It was also found that the application of P fertilizer gave a higher total P uptake than the control. Above-ground biomass (AB) and above-ground P content (APC) were significantly affected by cultivar with the application of P fertilizer. CLGC30 with applied P fertilizer produced higher AB and APC values than that of KKU25 without the application of P fertilizer. Consequently, the application of P fertilizer for dwarf yard-long bean production is recommended for the application of soil with low available P.","PeriodicalId":36974,"journal":{"name":"Current Applied Science and Technology","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45713750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The invasion of BPH causes heavy losses in rice production, both quality and quantity. The objective of this research was to search for Metarhizium spp., a genus of entomopathogenic fungi in the Clavicipitaceae family, from forest soil in three districts of Phetchabun Province, Thailand: Khao Kho, Lom Kao and Nam Nao to control BPH. Metarhizium spp. fungi were isolated by soil dilution plate technique and determined their efficacy using conidia suspension at the concentration of 1X108 conidia/mL on BPH at the 2-3th instar nymph fed on seedlings of susceptible rice cultivars, Taichung Native 1 (TN1). The most effective Metarhizium sp. isolate was identified using the ITS region of 18S rDNA sequencing, Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) and evolutionary history. The result showed that 126 isolates of Metarhizium spp. were found and coded as PB-01 to PB-126. All isolates infected BPH nymph with 26.7 to 100% mortality within 6 days after contacting conidia suspension. The isolate of PB-75 showed the highest efficacy (100% BPH mortality) with the lethal times of 50% mortality (LT50) within 2.9 days. The species identification showed that the DNA sequence of Metarhizium sp. isolate, PB-75, was 98.6% similar to M. anisopliae Genbank ID JQ889704.1. For NaOH/urea method, alkali hydrates (OH-(H2O)x), urea hydrates (urea(H2O)y), and water were adsorbed into cellulose fiber to break hydrogen bonds between cellulose molecules yielding HG_Urea. For LiCl/DMAc method, the Lithium-DMAc complexes, [Li(DMAc)n]+Cl-, were seeped into cellulose fibers and the hydrogen bonds between the fibers were substituted by O-H…Cl-[Li(DMAc)n]+ bonds to produce transparent cellulose gel, HGL. Both freeze-dried hydrogels show the characteristics of cellulose vibrational modes and nano-sized fibrous SEM images.
