Like similar methods it is based on natural phenomena. In the paper two examples of how to use this method in medical applications are presented. In the first example the successfulness of simulated annealing is compared to a genetic algorithm on the problem of the optimal coefficients determination for cellular neural networks, when used for segmentation of ovarian ultrasound images. In this field the latter method produced better results. The second example discusses the usage of simulated annealing for optimisation of signal classification.","PeriodicalId":369629,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 15th IEEE Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (CBMS 2002)","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124132599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
