Then, from each of those areas, 4 schools (2 girls ‘schools and 2 boys’ schools) were selected by simple random sampling, and finally the students of 14 classes answered the designed moral intelligence questionnaire and Maslow’s self-actualization. Exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach’s alpha and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to design and validate the questionnaire’s psychometric properties. Data using software SPSS 21 were analyzed. Findings To extract the underlying factors of the 70-item Moral Intelligence Questionnaire, the Kaiser-Mir-Oliken (KMO) index was equal to 0.858, and the Bartlett spherical index was equal to 7208.51 and was statistically significant at the level of 0.01. Based on the common meanings of the items, the first component was “maintaining the dignity of others”, the second component was “adherence to principles”, the third component was “moral sensitivity”, the fourth component was “moral self-efficacy” and the fifth component was “ego empowerment”. Based on Cronbach’s alpha coefficients’ results obtained more than 0.7 for the components and a positive and significant correlation coefficient (p<0.01), the questionnaire was reliable and valid. Conclusion The Moral Intelligence Scale is a reliable and valid tool as a model for measuring moral intelligence in the adolescent children of veterans in Tehran concerning socio-cognitive changes in Iranian society.","PeriodicalId":36907,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of War and Public Health","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49002263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of social and communication skills training using cognitive-behavioral approach on psychological well-being and happiness of female students with martyred and veteran parents in Shahrekord governmental universities. The research was a quasi-experimental study that was conducted as a pretest-posttest-follow up with a control group on 50 female students with martyred and veteran parents in Shahrekord governmental universities in 2018-19. Research tools included the Ryff and Keynes Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire. The interventions were performed in 10 sessions of 90 minutes for the experimental group. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance using SPSS 22 software. Findings There was no significant difference between the two groups in the pretest stage (p>0.05). The mean scores of psychological well-being and happiness in the experimental group had a significant increase in the posttest stage compared to the control group (p<0.05). The results of repeated measures analysis of variance showed that the mean scores of psychological well-being and happiness, regardless of the effect of grouping during the posttest and follow up stages, changed significantly (p<0.05). Conclusion Group training of social and communication skills with a cognitive-behavioral approach leads to increased psychological well-being and happiness of female students with martyred and veteran parents.","PeriodicalId":36907,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of War and Public Health","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45985978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study evaluates health problems of other than the usual affected organs in survivors with severe respiratory injuries. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 292 chemical warfare veterans with severe pulmonary complications due to exposure to sulfur mustard were examined by two physicians in 2016. Health problems in the veterans were recorded and a clinical examination was performed. Data using SPSS software version 2016 and Chi-square test and Lambda correlation coefficient were analyzed. The most common problems of chemical warfare victims with severe pulmonary complications were related to musculoskeletal problems 92.1% (low back pain 68.8%), neurological system 88.4%(headache 78.1%), auditory system 81.8%(Hearing loss 62%), gastrointestinal tract 78.1% (reflux 74.3%), kidney and urinary tract (65.1%), cardiovascular (52.4%), immune system disorders (43.4%) and infertility 10.6%. The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the veterans were 121.1±14.7 and 79.7±8.8mmHg, respectively. Most of them were under treatment of respiratory corticosteroids (72.2%) and oral corticosteroids (45%). There were no significant relationships between gender, age, frequency of exposure to sulfur mustard, and the prevalence of physical complaints and musculoskeletal diseases, nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system, and hearing loss (p>0.05). Conclusion The most important health problems were musculoskeletal, neurological, hearing loss, and gastrointestinal problems. Moreover, the rate of using corticosteroids was very high while the rate of Infertility was less prevalent than previous studies. These results will help investment policies aiming at considering future health promotion planning.","PeriodicalId":36907,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of War and Public Health","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42451176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
