The virtual laboratory is an online platform that provides access to the laboratory workplaces during the evenings or weekends when the laboratory is closed. It allows students to work on the individual projects remotely from their home with nearly the same comfort as they work locally. This paper proposes and evaluates two implementation techniques for the virtualization of the hardware equipments in the laboratory. Moreover, it introduces our own developed tools to support the virtualization and to help to inexperienced embedded system developers (in our case students).","PeriodicalId":368762,"journal":{"name":"2011 12th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC)","volume":"19 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121007465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In ABS, wheel speed sensors (WSS) are important components, they provide essential wheel speed information not only for anti-lock brake systems, but also for traction control and stability control systems. The wheel speed sensors on most vehicles are magnetic and generate an alternating current (AC) signal that increases in frequency and amplitude with wheel speed. When the teeth on the tone ring rotate past the sensor tip, it changes the magnetic field and induces a current in the sensor windings. The result is a classic sine wave current pattern that changes with wheel speed. The strength of the signal can be affected by not only wheel speed but also the air gap between the sensor and tone ring, resistance inside the sensor, resistance in the external wiring and connector. A precise gap is necessary to produce a strong, reliable signal. But if the gap is too close, metal-to-metal contact between the sensor and tone ring would damage both. Conversely, an air gap that's too wide may produce a weak or erratic signal or no signal at all. The paper presents the change of alternating current signal when changing sensor air gap, wheel speed and drive angle. By using PULSE LabShop and SignalAnalyser software, sensor KMI15, we observe the waveform on the scope. A scope will show the voltage and frequency of the signal, as well as any missing or distorted humps in the sine wave pattern. From this, we can determine the ABS brake efficiency.","PeriodicalId":368762,"journal":{"name":"2011 12th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115435039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A nonlinear dynamical model of this bioprocess is obtained by using the reaction scheme and the mass balance. The dynamical kinetics is strongly nonlinear and not exactly known; therefore an online estimation strategy is developed, based on high gain approach. The tuning of the proposed high gain observers is reduced to the calibration of a single parameter. Numerical simulations are included in order to test the behavior and the performances of the proposed estimation strategy.","PeriodicalId":368762,"journal":{"name":"2011 12th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115365645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Equation of motion of gears system is obtained. A four-degree-of-freedom model of the pinion gear-wheel gear system is considered for simplicity. The pinion gear body and wheel gear body are assumed to be rigid. The teeth are assumed to be elastic and parallel spring-damper combinations are assumed to exist between the teeth and the gear body. Differential equations are obtained from equation of motion of gears system. Differential equations are arranged in the state-space form. Rotational positions and rotational velocities are considered as state-variables. The state-space equations of system are solved by MATLAB program. Transmission error of gears system is calculated depending on state-variables. Rotational positions, rotational velocities and transmission error are shown as graphically. It is shown in numerical study that transmission error deepens on various gear parameters and operating conditions. Moreover, it is shown in numerical study that transmission error deepens on elasticity of teeth.","PeriodicalId":368762,"journal":{"name":"2011 12th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131051686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Need of measurement a record various quantities is still rising. Main focus is aimed to energy saving houses, to large complex with many air conditioning units, to industry, where is need of simple action intervention on many places. Problem coming up, when the building has no sufficient cable infrastructure. Additional costs in many cases discourage from installation of modern smart sensors and action elements and an efficiency of current process can be decreased. The modern intelligent smart sensors working over the 802.15.4 protocol solves these disadvantages. Energy harvesting method perfectly fit for powering these autonomous smart sensors. Main advantage of this approach is lack of any wires. Data transmission is ensured wirelessly in non licensing band 2.4GHz and modern DC-DC converter take over power supply delivery. This converter is able to accept minimum input voltage in order of tens mV. Integration of these technologies is fully autonomous wireless smart sensors working in discontinuous operation without necessity to change or charge supply batteries. To working properly, only few degrees of thermal gradient is sufficient.","PeriodicalId":368762,"journal":{"name":"2011 12th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129641579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These two mathematical approaches will be used for creating a relationship between the speed of steel casting and the measured temperature of the steel strand in a critical place of the continuous steel casting machine. To obtain the required physical properties of the slab of individual sort of casted steel, a given interval of temperature should be reached in concrete parts of the steel strand. The proposed control model uses the speed of steel casting as the primary parameter (control parameter) influencing the temperature of steel in a critical place of the continuous steel casting machine (controlled parameter). This way we neglect the influence of other parameters, which are dependent on the steel casting speed anyway. A system of two fractional order differential equations is considered to describe the relation between the steel casting speed and the measured temperature. Experimental data containing information about the casting speed and the temperature of the strand are taken and an approximation (defined by optimal parameters) is sought. To find parameters of the proposed control model, the orthogonal distance fitting is used in the formulation of the fitting criterion. With the help of the created control model, it is possible to set the value of the steel casting speed based on the casted sort of the steel, to keep the measured temperature in the corresponding interval.","PeriodicalId":368762,"journal":{"name":"2011 12th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121770897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
