The proposed parallel SFSD (PSFSD) performs a single tree search by taking partial best nodes to generate counter-hypotheses. To make use of priori information in tree search to overcome the iteration problem, soft-hard combination (SHC) enumeration method is presented as a low complexity algorithm to find the best child with prior term added. The proposed scheme is suitable for hardware implementations and can be easily extended to other tree search schemes.","PeriodicalId":368538,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SiPS)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133071764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It shows also the effects of different aspects on the human postural stability. The stabilogram measures either lateral displacement or forward-backward displacement of a subject. These measurements are taken to quantify posture while standing in one of four controlled positions. By using Principal Component Analysis (PCA), the stabilogram is decomposed into three components with biological meaning. The components are trend, rambling and trembling. This paper proposes to create analytic signals for rambling (deterministic) and trembling (random) and use the resulting complex trajectories to identify the effect of age and gender on postural stability. The proposed method employs a signal analysis front end (PCA analysis) and a signal interpretation backend (clustering of complex trajectories). Experimental results show the efficiency of the PCA analysis to identify the effect of age and gender on the postural stability. These results are able to discriminate between control and young groups and indicate a less well-controlled posture for control subjects (34.5 ± 7.5yrs) relatively to young subjects (22.5 ± 2.5yrs). Results are also able to discriminate between female subjects and male subjects and indicate a less well-controlled posture for female subjects relatively to males.","PeriodicalId":368538,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SiPS)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132565730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

RRDML is based on RDML [1], in which maximum likelihood (ML) is applied to detect a sub-dimension of the received vector and linear detection is used for the remaining dimension. The channel condition number is employed to configure RRDML. For a 4×4 MIMO system with 16-QAM modulation over a Rayleigh fading channel, Verilog simulation in a commercial 45nm, 1.2V CMOS process show that RRDML achieves up to 62.3% power savings with a BER loss at most 3.7% compared to ML based receivers.","PeriodicalId":368538,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SiPS)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131304201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The delay caused by the crosstalk becomes a bottleneck to system performance, especially those with global interconnects. To alleviate crosstalk delays, accurate delay models are needed. In particular, analytical models are more desirable for their simplicity and transparency to technology, which lead to efficient crosstalk avoidance code (CAC) designs. Currently, most existing CAC designs are based on the analytical model proposed by Sotiriadis et al., which has limited accuracy. In this paper, we propose new analytical delay models, and our extensive simulations show that they have improved accuracy.","PeriodicalId":368538,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SiPS)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115107581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a systematic recursive method to design configurable QPP interleaving multistage network is proposed based on the property of QPP. Due to the nature of recursion, the proposed network for 2n-level parallel turbo decoder can be used for any 2i parallelism (0 < i ≤ n) without the need to redesign additional network for different level of parallelism. Address generator is modified to provide control signals to the network. Furthermore, the proposed QPP architecture is generalized to support arbitrary contention-free interleavers by appending an additional specially designed network. When the whole network is used in multi-standard design, the appended network can be turned off at QPP interleaver mode to reduce more than 49% dynamic power for parallelism greater than 16.","PeriodicalId":368538,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SiPS)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123512257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PL header is transmitted using π/2-BPSK modulation and is composed of a fixed part (26 bits of Start Of Frame (SOF)) and a variable part (64 bits codeword of PL Signaling (PLS) code that defines the structure of the PL frame). Since the 90 bits corresponding to the PL header are affected by noise, the carrier frequency offset and the phase noise, the synchronization task in a DVB-S2 receiver is thus a critical task. In this paper, we present a properties of the Hadamard code used to encode the information of the PLS code to reinforce frame detection before knowing the actual value of the PL code. Moreover, we propose to perform the computation in the polar domain in order to avoid the need of multiplier and thus, to obtain a very low cost implementation. The associated decoder architecture is presented together with the measured performance at several SNRs.","PeriodicalId":368538,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SiPS)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129777011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a new approach based on PHD particle filters (PHD-PF) to automatically track the number of magnetoencephalography (MEG) neural dipole sources and their unknown states. In particular, by separating the MEG measurements using independent component analysis, PHD-PF is applied in a closed-loop to first estimate the number of sources and then recover their amplitude, location and orientation. We also reduce the processing time and computational complexity by employing window-based processing and multi-channel decomposition. We simulate the overall system using synthetic data and show that the proposed algorithm has tracking performance similar to existing approaches with significantly fewer number of particles. We also map the algorithm on to a Xilinx Virtex-5 field-programmable gate array (FPGA) platform. The processing period for one iteration using 3,200 particles is only about 314 μs, which makes this implementation suitable for real-time tracking.","PeriodicalId":368538,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SiPS)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123378546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lossless compression of mammograms will reduce storage capacity needed and at the same time will enable faster image transmission over WANs, especially with limited bandwidth networks.
