Indian cultural heritage institutions like GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) have also embraced a number of digitisation initiatives to increase access to their wide-ranging art collections. Digital paintings and other cultural heritage information artifacts can facilitate digital humanities research in multiple ways. Using an online content analysis and observation method, this study looks at how metadata elements are used to describe the different art collections in five national museums in India. The study finds that 13 categories of art objects are made available by all the museums. Each category is described by a different number of metadata entry elements. The study also finds the metadata elements that different museums prefer for different types of art objects, as well as the common elements. The findings highlight the need for standardisation in metadata practices to improve the discoverability and accessibility of cultural objects and show how crucial metadata is in facilitating access to cultural objects. The results could help GLAMs create metadata guidelines and strategies for their digital collections, which would make digital art objects more discoverable and accessible.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"193 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Now a days, Gamification is a well-known concept in education and marketing. It entails incorporating game-like features into a certain process. It can serve to attract people’s attention, interest them in a specific activity, and affect their behaviour. Gamification can be used to grab library users’ attention, engage them in game-like library activities, and impact their overall library user behaviour. Ten years of data from 2013 to 2023 was extracted from Web of Science, and R Software (Biblioshiny) has been used for visualising the extracted data. Findings are mainly based on indicators like- most relevant sources, authors, globally cited documents, affiliations, country scientific production, three field plot, word growth, keyword plus and co-occurrence network. This study emphasises the importance of Gamification in library culture as it motivates users and makes learning more engaging.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"58 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139361043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this paper led to a deliberate literature study of the OGD research that primarily collected on empirical earlier papers. We systematically reviewed 88 reputable articles connected with the societal impacts of OGD use utilising Scopus Gateway from 2012 to 2022. We followed the Prefered Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) Protocol, and several software tools such as Mendeley, Publish or Perish, and VOSViewer to support the literature review process. This research provides several essential statistical views related to the social impact in the OGD field using Altmetric. The result shows that there were 26 categories of the OGD used for the societal consequences, with 8 main keywords most frequently used by the authors. Additionally, the highest number of authors who contributed to the discussion of social impact data, especially on the issue of open government, was 19, recorded in 2012. A number of topics overwhelmed the discussion of social impacts, namely, open government, citizen engagement, socio-economic value, and transparency in the period of 2015 and 2017.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115483769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Digital rights management restricts the use of copyrighted digital works from unauthorised access. Although Digital Right Management appears to protect writers’ copyrights, it limits the copyright freedom of blind and visually impaired users who depend on accessibility features. The study aims to discuss and highlight the impact of Digital Right Management on the accessibility of libraries’ electronic resources for BVI users. Furthermore, it discusses how complex Digital Rights Management violates the fair-use rights of BVI users by making it impossible for them to access electronic resources. This review article outlines the key research findings on Digital Right Management hindrances encountered by blind and visually impaired users in accessing electronic resources. The results root in the literature surveyed discloses that the majority of libraries throughout the world are falling behind in delivering efficient access to electronic resources for BVI users. Libraries have a variety of obstacles to the accessibility of electronic content, including Digital Right Management challenges, license constraints, website design limitations, accessibility issues, and compatibility issues with assistive software. To overcome some of these barriers, librarians should review the implications of Digital Right Management for accessibility. Moreover, librarians must be knowledgeable about the numerous forms of visual impairments, including these users in accessibility studies, and consider the assistive technology they use. The article will review the literature on the following topics: find out how accessible electronic resources in libraries are for blind or visually impaired users; identify existing accessibility challenges arising from Digital Right Management technologies that impede access to electronic resources by blind or visually impaired users, and identify the challenges that they are facing. ","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114710419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerous efforts and time have been consumed for relevant information extraction through major search engines if the data is not organised correctly. Ontologies proved to be an effective technique for representing and retrieving information, which is the key idea in semantic web applications. Ontologies not only help in efficient knowledge representation and information retrieval, but it also helps in mapping the hidden knowledge about a subject. This paper discusses the process and method of building ontology on the “Energy access” domain. The methodology is based on the tools used in developing the ontology. Several tools are used to create an ontology. Protégé is a most popular tool for ontology editing and for developing ontology.1 In this paper, various aspects like super class and subclass hierarchy, creating a subclass, instances for class illustration, query retrieval process, visualisation, and graph views have been demonstrated by using protégé software.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127014563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Further, this study also attempted to ascertain whether user category has any influenceon the factors which boost the use of web for academic purpose. A questionnaire- based survey was conductedfor five universities of Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab including post graduate students, research scholars andfaculty members. The findings showed that a majority of respondents from three categories chose the web becauseof the speedy retrieval of information, ease of access, no need for any advanced search skills to search on internetand further it saved their time when compared with the online e-resources subscribed by the library. Most of themfound it difficult to physically visit the library. They were not familiar with which e-resources were available onsubscribed databases or on the web. About half of users stated that no updation was made on the library websiteabout newly subscribed e-resources. Discontinued e-resources were not removed from library website when userssearched them for information and found nothing. The paper recommends that user education programmes shouldbe conducted and the interface of the library should be made user friendly so as to encourage the users to useauthentic information from the e-resources subscribed by the library for academic purpose.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129096533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the past decades, several agricultural extension modelshave been implemented in India. The present study emphasises on the scientific contribution of agricultural extension researchduring the last decade (2011-2020). Bibliometric techniques have been employed to the secondary data for analysing 145 articles to identify relevant themes, collaboration patterns, topics under study and major journals for publication. It was observed that the research on agricultural extension has been increasing in recent years. The journals that have published the articles have highlighted multi-disciplinary research to address the challenges of the discipline. The central thematic area of research in the domain was new extension methodologies for technology transfer,applying information and communication technologies (ICTs) in farming and climate-change based research in extension. Probably, this might be the first bibliometric study to offer exhaustive information on extension research in India. The findings of the study will aid academics and decision-makers in formulating plans and strategies for better extension approaches for agricultural development. Agricultural extension practitioners may also use those findings for reorienting advisory services at the grassroots level.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114837354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
