The data required for the study was taken from the Scopus database for the years 2001-2021. A total of 299 articles with 1764 citations were found during the search. The majority of papers (74.25%) were published in a multi-authored mode. The overall collaborative index was 2.84. Professors Zhang X and Zhang Y of China were named top contributors, each with seven papers and 139 and 121 citations, respectively. China leads the list of contributing countries, with 108 papers and 731 citations, followed by the United States (51), India (19), the United Kingdom (12), and South Korea (7). As per keyword analysis, \"military applications,\" \"radar,\" and \"military vehicles\" were the biggest hotspots. The findings revealed that Asian countries are increasingly dominating their western counterparts in global research publications on stealth technology. This scientometric analysis contributes to a better understanding of how countries are implementing new technologies for military assets. Furthermore, it may assist scientists in identifying core areas of interest and future research directions in the field, as well as library professionals in selecting appropriate resources.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139310209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Besides, author also mentioned other two modes of origin of the subject DH. It also stated the role of librarians for the development of DH. It was basically theoretical research where author used desk research technique through analyzing published literature on the domain. The main gap in literature review which author identified was ‘mode of formation of the subject DH from LIS point of view’. Author here tried to match between the librarians’ acquired knowledge base with need of DH scholars and pointed out the areas where LIS professionals can contribute toward developing DH. Finally, author theoretically developed a model to explain the origin of the subject DH from in the context of LIS domain and also presented other two existing concepts in a very simple, graphical ways.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A structured method for evaluating evolving research areas is a must have process in libraries, especially academic libraries. So, in this study, with the help of the digital humanities tool, the authors developed a book purchasing algorithm for an academic library that functions in accordance with the core research subjects and evolving research areas of that institution. To conduct this study, the researchers searched the SCOPUS database for articles published by the “University of Calicut” as of February 13, 2023, yielding 3305 publications. Voyant tools have been used to analyse the collected data. Significant changes in the area of research at the University of Calicut are observed from its beginning to its recent history (1967–2023). The analysis revealed a discrepancy between the primary subject areas of research and the book collection at the Calicut University library. The findings of this paper will aid librarians in their acquisition processes, and the institution will be able to support the research community. This study proposes a novel “Book Purchase Model for Academic Libraries” using a digital humanities tool that can be used in professional practice.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"38 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been playing significant roles in user education and promoting the user services of libraries. Libraries conduct several activities to promote library services and educate users on their digital resources and services. They have been following the best practices of promoting the library services and developing the digital literacy skills of users through conducting library orientation programs, resource sharing, vendor talks, demonstrations, training & tutorial sessions, content alerts, workshops, focus group discussions, etc. to make users aware and motivate them to the effective use of library services and resources. In the current digital era, acquiring knowledge through modern & intellectual skills using an online platform, has been introduced. Thus, modern libraries have started facilitating gamification platforms in the library premises to create more enthusiasm for learning quickly with deeper understanding, increasing engagement and motivation in using library services and digital resources. This research paper surveyed and evaluated the free web-based games available for developing digital literacy, including digital literacy instructions and promoting library services that benefit the libraries to identify the role of digital humanities in libraries by implementing gamification. The research study also evaluated the games, based on their features, simulations, play, etc., and ranked them based on selected criteria. The study found thatGaming Against Plagiarism (GAP), reference sources, and citation awareness is more popular.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"196 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data and information for the study are gathered through email communication with the pioneers in digital humanities in India, which is further enriched with evidence from institutional websites and already published literature in digital humanities. All the data and information is grouped into events, literature, programmes and courses, departments, centres, organisations and associations, projects, and practises, which also exist in other disciplines, to derive conclusions. The findings show that at this moment in time, especially in the Indian context, it would be unjustified to opine in favour of digital humanities as an independent academic discipline. In the days to come, it may emerge as an independent academic discipline, merge with information science, or remain ahumanities discipline only.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It merges various domains such as history, philosophy, literature, and modern languages, offering unique approaches to traditional inquiries. DH has gained considerable popularity among students, academicians, and Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals, creating new employment opportunities in libraries, museums, archives, cultural heritage organisations, data science, and other sectors. In India, DH is still in its early stages, with diverse manifestations in university-level teaching and learning practices. This study examines the DH components integrated into the LIS course curriculum by analysing syllabi and course descriptions from central universities. Additionally, we briefly review DH research projects and programs in India and abroad. To enhance the design and implementation of DH programs and degrees alongside LIS curricula, a course module for DH within LIS schools is proposed. This research extends insights into DH pedagogical practices within librarianship education, offering a comprehensive perspective on contextual frameworks, academic discussions, development trends in DH, and the LIS field in India.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"88 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even though several journals focus solely on digital humanities, the interdisciplinary nature of digital humanities remains a fact. The current study is an endeavor to understand the linkage of the digital humanities with other disciplines in the universe of knowledge so that researchers from multiple subject backgrounds can carry out research on digital humanities in a more vivid manner. The present research will prove valuable for researchers, authors, and decision-makers of research and development organisations and other institutions to carry out collaborative research activities on individual and organisational levels. The research results and discussions of this research publication will enlighten the researchers from the digital humanities subject field to take a decision in a better way regarding the evolution and interdisciplinary research activities in digital humanities and the incorporation of methods and techniques from library and information science and computer science to expand the horizons of the subject field (digital humanities). The author conducted a bibliometric analysis focusing on the objectives to discover linkages and an interdisciplinary approach to digital humanities. The results infer that the highest number of authors active in research activities in the digital humanities belong to computer science followed by art and humanities and library and information science disciplines. The journals preferred for publication of research on digital humanities are also analysed, and it is found that the highest number of journals are from the literature discipline, followed by art & humanities, computer science, history, and library and information science. The publication productivity of journals is also studied, and it is found that “Digital Scholarship in the Humanities” is the most productive journal and that it belongs to the humanities discipline. In the list of the top ten most productive journals, five belong to the discipline of Library and information science. The study of citation and bibliographic coupling displays that the journals “Journal of Documentation” and “Digital Scholarship in the Humanities” are the most cited journals. During this research endeavor, emphasis is given to the subject affiliation of authors, journals and publications. It’s been found that digital humanities research is actively related to the disciplines of library and information science and computer science.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139360364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
