Libraries worldwide have been adopting and implementing new immersive technologies to enhance users’ experience and learning. The Central Library of IIT Kharagpur offers (i) web-based augmented reality (WebAR), (ii) virtual reality (VR), and (iii) data visualisation immersive services. This research investigates the users’ perceptions on factors that influence their satisfaction with WebAR/VR services. The study surveyed 135 random users to note their immersive library experience; out of them, only 100 users responded to our survey. The results show that 90 per cent of the respondents were satisfied with our services. Secondly, the respondents revealed that data privacy, health, and safety were some of the critical factors that influenced their satisfaction. Further, 14 per cent were apprehensive in terms of their health & safety. In fact, these users reported vision problems, disorientation, dizziness, sweating, and nausea. Based on the data collected, we prepared a framework, using The DELOS DL reference model for information delivery, along with educational and research activities. We believe that this study would lend crucial insights to academic libraries that may be planning to adopt and implement AR/VR as part of their immersive environment.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114474412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The taxonomy and folksonomy come together as called hybrid subject devices. The main purpose of this paper is to apply machine learning techniques in the dataset from the library domain like others and analyse a large quantity of data for critical problems with accuracy. This research reveals to perform EDA (Exploratory data analysis), prediction analysis, and similarity measurement between folksonomy and taxonomy terms with new emerging technologies. Data science deals with big data that means unstructured data, messy data, a large volume of data. The size is of a large amount of data in terms of GB, TB. Machine learning tools manage this type of data. Usually, the Excel, or other spreadsheets package could not manage the file size in GB or TB, and that’s why ML tools, and techniques are applied. At present, the library science domain also contains a large amount of data like 20/30 years of circulation data or subject descriptors, collaborative tags etc. Library professionals can apply machine learning tools for analysing this kind of data in the library domain. In this paper, the authors have introduced the applications of tools and techniques in the library domain and they have tested with 2642 taxonomy and folksonomy terms. This research work includes – EDA, prediction analysis, and similarity measurement of a folksonomy and taxonomy dataset. In the EDA part, the research work has performed a lot of analysis that includes frequency of LCSH (Library of Congress Subject Heading - taxonomy) terms, pair plots, joint plots, and heat map of LCSH and folksonomy terms. The logistic regression (LR) model for prediction analysis has been used in the folksonomy and taxonomy dataset. These 2642 terms of folksonomy and taxonomy both terms are taken as data for this research work. The EDA has been performed with the attributes in the dataset. The accuracy value of logistic regression (f1- score) is 0.37 at the training percentage of 69. The percentage of similarity between LCSH terms and folksonomy terms is 30 per cent (0.30151134), and the angle between these two vectors is 27 degrees. The novelty of this research work is that library data has been analysed using machine learning techniques the ever used before.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115962005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data encryption is essential component of ensuring privacy between the sender and receiver of the message. Any law which asks for the decryption key from the intermediaries to trace the originator of the message requires a deeper understanding of the encryption architecture. It seems that there is a gap in technology and law making pertaining to data encryption which needs to be resolved using a techno-legal framework. The data used in this study stems from an online survey carried out in India by Local Circles. The findings indicate that majority of the Social Media users are in favour of strict regulations. In line with what people think, the intermediary guidelines under the Information Technology Act makes it mandatory for the intermediaries (Social Networking Sites) to comply with the rules. But, there is lack of techno-legal framework to ensure that all disputes pertaining to data encryption and social media regulation will get resolved keeping a balance.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123323255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It posits that each text document consists of a group of topics, and each topic is a mixture of words related to it. With the emergence of a plethora of text data, the LDA has become a popular algorithm for topic modeling among researchers from different domains. Therefore, it is essential to understand the trends of LDA researches. Bibliometric techniques are established methods to study the research progress of a topic. In this study, bibliographic data of 18715 publications that have cited the LDA were extracted from the Scopus database. The software R and Vosviewer were used to carry out the analysis. The analysis revealed that research interest in LDA had grown exponentially. The results showed that most authors preferred “Book Series” followed by “Conference Proceedings” as the publication venue. The majority of the institutions and authors were from the USA, followed by China. The co-occurrence analysis of keywords indicated that text mining and machine learning were dominant topics in LDA research with significant interest in social media. This study attempts to provide a comprehensive analysis and intellectual structure of LDA compared to previous studies.","PeriodicalId":368533,"journal":{"name":"DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132221950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
