A serious type of network attacks is Denial of Service (DoS), which is performed against an information system to prevent legitimate users from accessing the compromised system for service. This paper concerns detecting DoS attacks using Support Vector Machines (SVMs). The key idea is to train SVMs using already discovered patterns (signatures) that represent DoS attacks. Using a benchmark data from a KDD competition designed by DARPA (U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), we demonstrate that highly efficient and accurate classifiers can be constructed by using SVMs to detect DoS attacks. Further, we also perform feature ranking of the DARPA intrusion data to identify the key features that are important to DoS detection.","PeriodicalId":368328,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Intelligent Electronic Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129109153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Abstract Prediction plays an important role everywhere particularly in business, technology and many others. It helps organizations to take timely decisions, to improve profits and to reduce lost sales. Recent years have witnessed an enormous development in the area of cloud computing and big data, which brings up challenges in decision making process. As the size of the dataset becomes extremely big, the process of extracting useful information by analysing these data has also become tedious. Today data are generated in an unprecedented manner, prediction plays major role in utilizing these data. Time Series based prediction models take great part in handling Big Data such as online sales data, weather data etc. In this paper a methodology for prediction is introduced and the model is evaluated by applying various time series models with time series data which is seasonal and non-stationary. From the analysis it is proved that Holt-Winter’s model performs better in seasonal and non-stationary time series data. The Holt-Winters (HW) methods estimate three smoothing parameters, associated with level, trend and seasonal factors. The seasonal variation can be of either an additive or multiplicative form. Also in this paper, Performance Improved Holt-Winters (PIHW) prediction algorithm is proposed and the results demonstrate that a considerable reduction in forecast error (Mean Square Error) can be achieved in the proposed model compared to Holt-Winters (HW) model.","PeriodicalId":368328,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Intelligent Electronic Systems","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129187002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Simply regulating the Boiler Feed Water Control Valve regulates the boiler drum level. The drum level is measured by using level transmitter. The level signal is compared with fixed set value of level controller. Whenever there is a sudden rise in the steam flow the drum pressure decreases. Due to decrease in the pressure there is a temporary rise in the drum level. This is called as swelling effect. The shrinking effect is opposite to the swelling effect. To avoid these problems this paper suggests the method of pressure temperature compensating method.","PeriodicalId":368328,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Intelligent Electronic Systems","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126773399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper studies low-complexity high speed decoder architectures for quasi-cyclic low density parity check (QC-LDPC) codes. Algorithmic transformation and architectural level optimization are incorporated to reduce the critical path and bit error rate (BER). Enhanced partially parallel decoding architectures are proposed to linearly increase the throughput of conventional partially parallel decoders through introducing a small percentage of extra hardware. The LDPC decoding procedure is simplified without the estimation of channel noise power. Simulation results show that this algorithm is effective and the decoding performance is satisfied when maximum iteration number is 10.","PeriodicalId":368328,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Intelligent Electronic Systems","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122992910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Raja","doi":"10.18000/IJIES.30047","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18000/IJIES.30047","url":null,"abstract":"Continuously growing needs for Internet applications that transmit massive amount of data has led to the emergence of high speed network. Data transfer must take place without any congestion and hence feedback parameters must be transferred from the receiver end to the sender end so as to restrict the sending rate in order to avoid congestion. Even though TCP tries to avoid congestion by restricting the sending rate and window size, it never announces the sender about the capacity of the data to be sent and also it reduces the window size by half at the time of congestion therefore resulting in the decrease of throughput, low utilization of the bandwidth and maximum delay. In this paper, XCP protocol is used and feedback parameters are calculated based on arrival rate, service rate, traffic rate and queue size and hence the receiver informs the sender about the throughput, capacity of the data to be sent and window size adjustment, resulting in no drastic decrease in window size, better increase in sending rate because of which there is a continuous flow of data without congestion. Therefore as a result of this, there is a maximum increase in throughput, high utilization of the bandwidth and minimum delay. The result of the proposed work is presented as a graph based on throughput, delay and window size. Thus in this paper, XCP protocol is well illustrated and the various parameters are thoroughly analyzed and adequately presented.","PeriodicalId":368328,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Intelligent Electronic Systems","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124678259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
