Health workers may be exposed to antineoplastic drugs by inhalation, ingestion or direct skin contact during the preparation, transport, administration, storage and disposal of antineoplastic drugs. The study aims to evaluate the impacts of the training on the safe handling precautions and oxidative stress parameters for oncology nurses. The study was an experimental study without a control group. This study included 23 oncology nurses who were involved in the preparation and administration of antineoplastic drugs. Training effectiveness was evaluated with the safe handling precautions questionnaire and blood samples of oncology nurses. After the training, the frequency of using the closed system transfer devices and changing the chemotherapy glove every 30 min in preparation of antineoplastic drugs significantly increased in the post-test. The post-test 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine mean of the nurses was found to be significantly lower than pre-test and follow-up.  The training program provided a positive contribution to increasing the use of safe handling precautions and reducing oxidative damage. According to the results of this study, the training program can be used to develop protective health behaviors, and to reduce occupational exposure.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122846210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fractures are potential and actual threats that cause physiological and psychological disorders to a person's pain response. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education in splinting on the level of knowledge by using audiovisual media. The research design used a quasi-experimental method (quasi-experimental) with a non-equivalent control group approach. The sampling technique is simple random sampling, and the number of samples used is 51 respondents. The research instrument used a knowledge-level questionnaire on splinting and audiovisual media. The Wilcoxon sign test and Mann-Whitney analyzed data. The Wilcoxon analysis showed that the p-value in the intervention group was 0.005 < 0.05. And in the control group, the p-value was 0.014 < 0.05. While according to the Mann-Whitney test, the p-value was 0.000 < 0.05, it can be concluded that there is an effect of health education splinting with audiovisual media on the knowledge level of splinting in public senior high school students. The use of video for education is very effective in changing individual knowledge and behaviour. Providing education through videos will make it easier to convey information and facilitate behaviour change. Besides, videos can increase self-confidence and confidence about the educational material delivered.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"308 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126289006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Descriptive cross-sectional study. The study was conducted on 107 individuals with spinal cord injury. The mean age was 39.26±13.46 years. Data were collected via Google Survey between March and September 2021. The mean Self-confidence Scale for Clean Intermittent Self-Catheterization (SCSCISC) score was 4.14±0.81, indicating relatively high levels of self-confidence. However, the participants obtained moderate scores from the items “what to do when there is blood in the urine” and “what to do when there is no urine”, which were 3.02±1.5 and 3.01±1.5, respectively.  The SCSCISC scores were significantly higher for the participants, who were male, had a job, did not use medication for bladder problems and were functionally semi-independent or independent. General level of self-confidence was high but the participants did not know what to do when there was blood in the urine or when there was no urine. Self-confidence levels were influenced by age, gender, working status, functional independence and medication use for bladder problems.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127016724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the factors that can affect a baby's growth and development is sleep and rest. Massage can help reduce muscle tension, so that the benefits obtained by the baby become more relaxed and sleep more soundly. Based on a preliminary study at the Karangpawitan Health Center, it was found that the number of babies who had sleep disorders was 11 babies or about 42.3% of 26 babies. The results of interviews with 10 mothers of babies, 7 people (70%) did not know about baby massage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of baby massage on the sleep duration of infants aged 6-12 months at Posyandu Cempaka, Karangsari Village, Karangpawitan District, Garut Regency. This study uses a quasi-experimental study with the one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study was 35 infants aged 6-12 months, the sample technique used was total sampling, 5 respondents were eliminated so that the sample taken was 30 infants. The instrument used was a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed by using Paired Samples Test. The average duration of sleep for babies before being given baby massage was 12,933 and the average duration of sleep for babies after being given baby massage was 14,200. The results of the statistical test showed a p-value of 0.000 <0.05. There was an effect of baby massage on the sleep duration of infants aged 6-12 months. It is hoped that mothers can continue to massage their children by learning baby massage so that they can massage themselves at home regularly and routinely so that babies do not experience sleep disturbances and can grow and develop optimally.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115259682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Early nursing intervention plays an important role in the prevention, preparedness, and response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other emerging infectious diseases. A nurse preparedness questionnaire about emerging infectious diseases needs to be compiled as an instrument that can measure preparedness related to unpredictable emerging infectious diseases. The aim of this study was to analyze the validity and reliability of the nurse preparedness questionnaire in dealing with emerging infectious diseases in Bali. This research method is a cross-sectional study involving all nurses in the emergency department at Klungkung Hospital as many as 30 people. Conducting a literature review and adopting the WHO COVID-19 preparedness questionnaire developed the instrument. The questionnaire consists of 4 dimensions with a total of 28 statement items covering the dimensions of knowledge on preparedness for emerging infectious diseases, dimensions of facility preparedness and response readiness in triage, dimensions of the effective response of nurses, and dimensions of preparedness and readiness of nurses for personal protective equipment. The stratified scale in this questionnaire uses a modified Likert scale with 4 answer choices of answers choices (4) strongly agree (3) agree (2) disagree and (1) strongly disagree.
