Network monitoring to detect various security threats has become crucial in any organization. In this paper, we analyze large amount of network traffic data using Hive database in Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) environment. Hive queries are developed to identify security threats. The results of queries are demonstrated and the Hive Client application is developed where all the queries can be integrated. An Apache Zeppelin Visualization Tool is also introduced which can provide more insights on the dataset.","PeriodicalId":368197,"journal":{"name":"SoutheastCon 2017","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116502406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, typical hydrophobic coatings or encapsulation layers, such as polyurethane, acrylate, or films, make textile antennas rigid and air impermeable. This work details the approach of using a polyurethane web as an encapsulation and lamination layer for screen-printed microstrip patch antennas on textile fabrics. Integrating the polyurethane web into the textile antennas makes the printed antennas flexible, air permeable, and durable. Further improvements are made by introducing a novel porous patch antenna design to enhance the flexibility and air-permeability for printed antennas. Antennas were designed and modeled using the ANSYS HFSS simulation software and compared with fabricated experimental results. Results show the fully packaged printed antenna have good impedance matching even under different bent conditions. The antennas were also analyzed before and after rinsing with heavy flow of water for 2 minutes to determine the effect of wetting.","PeriodicalId":368197,"journal":{"name":"SoutheastCon 2017","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132943949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally these electrical impulses are recorded in the form of electroencephalography with electrodes placed on the subject's scalp. This paper is focused on processing the electroencephalography signal using independent component analysis to train a neural network to recognize left and right hand grasping motions. The independent component analysis was used to reduce noise and isolate the recording channels that are associated with muscle movement. The performance of the network is compared by training the neural network with and without the pre-preocessing independent component analysis and evaluating the rate at which the system identifies the correct grasping motion through the baseline noise present in electroencephalography recordings.","PeriodicalId":368197,"journal":{"name":"SoutheastCon 2017","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133225586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that changing the frequency of the structured illumination affects the resolution of the resulting images non-uniformly in the spatial frequency domain. As the grating frequency increases, some groups of lines of higher spatial frequency became distinguishable as expected; however, certain groups of lines of lower spatial frequency that were formerly distinguishable become indistinguishable. This paper adds to the body of knowledge by showing these results in a quantitative way.","PeriodicalId":368197,"journal":{"name":"SoutheastCon 2017","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127425621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This problem, typically involving systems with two or more renewable energy installations, is known as power management and pertains to the appropriate time for power outputs of specified renewable sources. To maximize a power systems efficiency, it is necessary to monitor and regulate the output of each renewable source based off of the demand, and if a surplus occurs, then the power management is based of which renewable is most cost efficient to use first, second, etc. In this paper the problem of power management will be introduced with 6 separate types of energy sources, each with their own set of costs and constraints. The problem will then be analyzed and solved using a new, yet reliable algorithm.","PeriodicalId":368197,"journal":{"name":"SoutheastCon 2017","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116977442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, these systems are susceptible to replay attacks. During a replay attack, an attacker can capture packets of data that represents an individual's biometric. The attacker can then replay the data and gain unauthorized access into the system. Traditional password based systems have the ability to use a one-time password scheme. This allows for a unique password to authenticate an individual and it is then disposed. Any captured password will not be effective. Traditional biometric systems use a single feature extraction method to represent an individual, making captured data harder to change than a password. There are hashing techniques that can be used to transmute biometric data into a unique form, but techniques like this require some external dongle to work successfully. The proposed technique in this work can uniquely represent individuals with each access attempt. The amount of unique representations will be further increased by a genetic feature selection technique that uses a unique subset of biometric features. The features extracted are from an improved genetic-based extraction technique that performed well on periocular images. The results in this manuscript show that the improved extraction technique coupled with the feature selection technique has an improved identification performance compared with the traditional genetic based extraction approach. The features are also shown to be unique enough to determine a replay attack is occurring, compared with a more traditional feature extraction technique.","PeriodicalId":368197,"journal":{"name":"SoutheastCon 2017","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125948581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the ROS Navigation plugin model offers some customization, many decisions are internal to move_base. In contrast, the Flexible Navigation system separates global planning from local planning and control, and uses a hierarchical finite state machine to coordinate behaviors. The Flexible Navigation system includes Python-based state implementations and ROS nodes derived from the move_base plugin model to provide compatibility with existing libraries as well as future extensibility. The paper concludes with complete system demonstrations in both simulation and hardware using the iRobot Create and Kobuki-based Turtlebot running under ROS Kinetic. The system supports multiple independent robots.","PeriodicalId":368197,"journal":{"name":"SoutheastCon 2017","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125998706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Proposed architecture efficiently generates a 0.380 THz signal using a strong fundamental CWO operating at W-band. Eight-section CWO produces 95 GHz signals that are distributed along the ring with 45 degree phases. Frequency quadrupler combines the signals from the CWO, fo, and produces a signal at 4fo. The frequency quadrupler circuit dissipates 76 mW of DC power from 2V supply. The CWO based frequency quadrupler operating at 380 GHz has a −28 dBm output power into 50 ohms load with a phase noise of −85 dBc per Hz at 1 MHz offset.","PeriodicalId":368197,"journal":{"name":"SoutheastCon 2017","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124997836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
