The Donors for such kidney can be either from living or from cadaver donors. The living donors are healthy people who are thoroughly worked up and screened. For the benefit of another person we subject a healthy subject to surgery. For this reason a study on how a donor’s health is affected as a result of kidney donation needs evaluation.\u0000Methods: This study is a combined retrospective and prospective study. The retrospective data were taken from the case sheet of patients maintained at the urology department of a large tertiary level hospital doing renal transplants. Prospective study of the cases were carried out by following up detail donor workup including history, clinical examination and investigations relevant to donor work up as per the protocol followed in the transplant center. Each prospective case were studied for complications of donor nephrectomy and followed up for a period of up to one year after donor nephrectomy. \u0000Results: A total of 36 donors underwent donor nephrectomy during the study period. There were only two laparoscopic nephrectomies and 34 by standard retroperitoneal open surgical method. 13 donors had postoperative complications (36.11%). The duration of stay varied from 5-35 days. Majority of the donors (44%) had a stay within the range of 10-15 days, followed by a stay of 5-10 days (30-56 percent of the donors). The remaining stay ranged from 2.78% to 8.33 %. The average stay in the hospital was found to be 14.17 days with SD of 6.45 days.\u0000Conclusion: Living kidney donation with all its advantages still holds the best solution for end stage renal disease. The inconvenience of haemodialysis along with the cost and loss of labour of a patient on haemodialysis makes renal transplant the ultimate replacement of a non-functioning kidney. The advantage of timing of transplantion according to the condition of the recipient makes it far superior than cadaver grafts.

Mortality due to cardiovascular diseases, cancer and respiratory conditions are the main cause of smoking. The rate of becoming smoker of teenagers increase day by day and 33% of them are believed to die due to consumption of tobacco. Almost 90% of them start smoking before the age of eighteen. The objective of this research is to study the prevalence, associated factors and behavior of cigarette smoking.\u0000Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used to find the prevalence of smoking and other associated factors. A sample of 345 students were recruited purposively from the selected school and a self administered questionnaire were used to collect the data in 2020 using WHO step survey.\u0000Data were entered in EPI data and Univariate and bivariate analysis was done using SPSS16. Logistic regression was used to find the associated factors. P value less than 0.05 was considered as statistical significant.\u0000Results: Among 318 students, 65% were male. The average age of the students was 18.03±1.65 years with the range of 15 to 25 years. The prevalence of smoking was estimated 23.3% (male=31.9% and female = 7.2%). The mean age of initiation of smoking was 16.5 years. Presence of parental smoking and smoking status was significantly associated (P < 0.05). Alcoholic habit was the predictor of smoking (p<0.05). Peer pressure (83.7%), exam load (55.8%), frustration (51.2%) family environment (43%), advertisement (34.9%), pleasure (26.7%) and curiosity (22.1%) were the main reason of starting smoking. They had the knowledge of harmful effects of smoking i.e. cause cancer (91.8%), chronic bronchitis (65.70%), laryngeal cancer (42.10%), heart disease (34.3%).\u0000Conclusion: The prevalence of smoking was remarkably high in college students. Most of the women use sanitary napkins and pads for maintaining menstrual hygiene, though menstrual cup is a good alternative to sanitary pads as it is reusable and environment-friendly. Awareness of nursing students about this will have significant clinical and public health implications. Hence, the current research aimed at assessing awareness and utilization of menstrual cup among adolescent nursing students. \u0000 Methods: Analytical cross-sectional research design was conducted among 121 adolescent nursing students selected by enumerative sampling from Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences, College of Nursing and Nepali Army college of Health Science. Semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation was used to describe the socio-demographic characteristics and inferential statistics i.e., spearman rank correlation was used to find out the correlation between level of awareness and utilization of menstrual cup. \u0000Results: In this study, majority (81%) of the respondents had moderate level and only (14%) of respondents had adequate level of awareness on menstrual cup. Very few respondents (9.1%) of them had used menstrual cup. There was negligible positive correlation between level of awareness and utilization of menstrual cup (r=0.003). \u0000Conclusion: The findings of the study concluded that nursing students have moderate knowledge regarding menstrual cup and its usage and only very few of them are using it hence, there is a need for educational programs, campaigns and continuous monitoring to improve and reinforce the knowledge regarding menstrual cup and its usage among students as they are the one who in future will reach to serve the public and raise awareness throughout the country. \u0000
