Traditional PPP focuses primarily on the public sector as contracting agency and private sector as project company. This research explores a major gap observed in such setup, namely the lack of attention on the people sector who is the end-users or groups impacted by these public infrastructures. Based on literature review, qualitative analysis involving executive interviews, and quantitative analysis involving survey of operational staffs, this study recommends a new Public-Private-People Partnership strategic stakeholder institutional framework along with its components of critical success factors for both policy and operational regulating frameworks to enhance PPP practice, both in Thailand and beyond.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49199170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, support vector regression technique was used to make some predictions on the daily death values due to Covid-19 virus. The models were created for the world, United States of America, United Kingdom and Turkey. All the regression models were tested using coefficient of determination (R2) and root mean square error (RMSE) values. The analysis was also conducted for comparing the suitability of linear, radial and polynomial kernels. The radial kernel produced relatively better results. In predicting the world data support vector regression with radial kernel produced 0.805262 R2 value on test data. In the models created for United States of America 0.723376 R2 value, for United Kingdom 0.95412 R2 value and for Turkey 0.875343 R2 value using test data were observed. Also, while the models were created for specific countries the comparisons were made between using only data for the country and also using the whole world data. In general modelling using the data for the world combined with the country data gave better prediction.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42559942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the significant image preparation process is a laborious and time-consuming. Manually depicting constrained feature extraction can result in a semantic void in a picture. These limits cause inaccuracy of agricultural disease identification. Thus, this study proposes a soybean pest detection method based on a hybrid of Transfer learning and pyramidal convolutional neural networks that can identify soybean pests quickly and accurately on small sample sets. Bean borer, soybean poison moth, mite, stink bug, and pod borer photographs are first pre-processed using standard data improvement methods, and then manually categorized into six groups based on pest characteristics. The weight parameters from the VGG16 model trained on the ImageNet image dataset were then transferred to the recognition of soybean pests using the transfer learning method, and the VGG16 convolutional and pooling layers were used as feature extraction layers, while the top layer was redesigned as a pyramidal convolutional layer, an average pooling layer, and a SoftMax output layer, with some of the convolutional layers frozen during training. According to the testing statistics, the model's average test accuracy is 98.23%, and the model size is only 95.4 M. For bean borer, soybean poison moth, mite, skewed night moth, stink bug, and bean pod moth, the model's recognition accuracy is 96.4, 97.78, 98.12, 98.4, 99.56, and 99.16, respectively. The results of the experiments show that the method has a high identification efficiency and a good recognition effect.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43508724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Myoelectric signals detected by electrodes well-known as Electromyography (EMG) have been targeted to control upper limb prostheses of such lost limbs. Unfortunately, the acquisition, processing and use of such myoelectric signals are sophisticated. Furthermore, it necessarily requires complex computation to fulfil accuracy, robustness, and time-consumption execution for the real-time prosthesis application. Thus, machine learning schemes for pattern recognition are a potential approach to improve the traditional control for hand prostheses due to the movement of users and muscle contraction. This paper presents real-time hand posture recognition based on three hand postures using surface EMG (sEMG) signals. sEMG signals are acquired by the electrode channel and simultaneously collected while making a hand posture. Performance evaluation relies on classification accuracy and time consumption. The performance of six real-time recognition models is evaluated which combine two projection techniques and three classifiers. Results indicate that EMG-based pattern recognition (EMG-PR) control outperforms the traditional control for hand prostheses in real-time application. The highest classification accuracy is approximately 96%, whereas the lowest time consumption is 4 ms. In addition, the accuracy is dropped when the number of electrodes decreases nearly to 3%. These outcomes can apply to real-time hand prostheses to alleviate the limited prostheses available.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48068684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Digital modulation techniques investigated are phase-shift keying (PSK) 8-PSK, 16-PSK, quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) 4-QAM, 16-QAM, and 64-QAM. FSO is line-of-sight technology being a solution to a last-mile communication system for the challenge of fiber optic cables installation. Combining FSO with fiber optic technology avoids bending losses and the implementation challenges of fiber optic cables in metropolitan areas and between buildings. But atmospheric challenges such as haze, fog, and rain cause signal loss while transmitting data in free space. Also, atmospheric turbulence and antenna misalignments lead to signal error. This paper proposed the models of QAM and PSK digital modulated signal transmission over FO-FSO and compared the results to better fiber optic-FSO links to achieve a last-mile communication network. This fiber optic and FSO model is analyzed for the distance up to 100 km of fiber optic channel and 0.4-1.5 km of FSO channel. Constellation diagrams and error-vector magnitude (EVM) concerning received power at the receiver are compared to analyze FSO channel capacity for various weather attenuations.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49241577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In real application, the adsorption method of biogas purification is conducted by using its complex mixture of biogas to obtain the purer methane gas. Accordingly, in case of biogas purification, adsorption capacity of the adsorbent towards both CH4 and CO2 gases from a complex gas mixture of biogas is indispensable to be studied thoroughly for improving the existing purification method, such as the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) method. The objective of this experiment is to compare the adsorption of carbon-dioxide and methane from complex mixture of biogas by Zeolite 13X under pressurized condition using experimental data. The experiment was conducted using a specially designed experimental setup, and the data obtained was evaluated and analyzed using the Freundlich Isotherm Model. The results show that experimental study on the adsorption of CO2 and CH4 gas from complex mixture of biogas in Zeolite 13X was distinguishable by their values of Freundlich coefficient. CO2 and CH4 gas adsorption in zeolite vary directly with pressure raised to the power 1/n, where its value for CH4 adsorption was higher than CO2. However, within the range of applicable pressure, the equilibrium adsorption of CO2 in Zeolite 13X was still higher than that of CH4.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48333350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is considered to be a major and complex job for humans. This paper proposes a unified facial recognition system based on already available deep learning and machine learning models (i.e., FaceNet, ResNet, Support Vector Machine, AgeNet and GenderNet) that automatically and simultaneously performs person identification, age estimation and gender prediction. Then the system is evaluated on a newly proposed multi-face, realistic and challenging test dataset. The current face recognition technology primarily focuses on static datasets of known identities and does not focus on novel identities. This approach is not suitable for continuous crowd monitoring. In our proposed system, whenever novel identities are found during inference, the system will save those novel identities with an appropriate label for each unique identity and the system will be updated periodically in order to correctly recognise those identities in the future inference iterations. However, extracting the facial features of the whole dataset whenever a new identity is detected is not an efficient solution. To address this issue, we propose an incremental feature extraction based training method which aims to reduce the computational load of feature extraction. When tested on the proposed test dataset, our proposed system correctly recognizes pre-trained identities, estimates age, and predicts gender with an average accuracy of 49%, 66.5% and 93.54% respectively. We conclude that the evaluated pre-trained models can be sensitive and not robust to uncontrolled environment (e.g., abrupt lighting conditions).","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45199752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fe was most frequently detected with concentrations near the limits of Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).  0.42% of the 958 studied samples for Fe had concentration greater than the 1mg/L limit.  As for Mn, none of the 909 samples for Mn had concentration greater than the PNSDW. Of those wells that have shown presence higher than the minimum detection level (MDL), 5 have been installed with individual filtration system (DMI-65) to capture Fe and Mn. No correlation has been found between the two parameters. As for seasonality, there is an obvious spike in Fe for all wells during the months of July, September, and October. Mn on the other hand manifested a spike in July for the shallow wells. The QGIS3 software was also used to develop a spatial map and report the distribution presence. From the generated maps, Fe and Mn gradually increase in concentration going north to northeastern directions of CFZ. The produced map can be key in raising awareness of the public and fellow water concessionaires with regards to the possible extent of underground Fe and Mn presence. Information generated here will be valuable as resources, and engineering controls can be applied to give priority to the low probability affected areas.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46973449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Related literature were about biped robots and robot arm that uses the concept of central pattern generator (CPG). Biped robots that use CPG (technically a neural oscillators) do not need any mathematical model of the robot itself. The controller “exploits” the dynamics of the robot to achieve an efficient way to drive the robot’s joints. The driving frequency from this type of controller is thus heavily influenced by the dynamics of the robot it controls. One disadvantage of this method is that we cannot adjust the walking/movement parameter easily. Inspired by the idea of central pattern generator where one central “brain” controls the movement of the joints of the robot and the fact that the system uses neural oscillators reach some kind of “consensus”, we are interested to study the feasibility of the implementation of leader – follower formation control based on consensus algorithm to bipedal locomotion system. The method studied in this report is to force the dynamic model of the double pendulum to match the kinematic model of the double integrator agent that uses consensus algorithm in forming formation. The walking/movement parameters of the robot using the proposed method are defined by one central “brain”, and then the joints are working in consensus way to achieve the target joints’ trajectories specified by the “brain”. The study also concludes the notion of stability of the system driven by this controller which strongly related to the consensus ability in the context of Multi – Agent System.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45490114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A big obstacle for this technology is the selection of proper ink material. Chitosan hydrogel is an established biocompatible material that can be used as tissue scaffolds, and it has the rheology necessary for processing via extrusion type 3D printer. However, chitosan still has degradation and swelling limitations. Hence, chitosan hydrogel blends were incorporated with cellulose particles and were prepared as ink material. The hydrogels were successfully synthesized via thermo-responsive sol-gel method. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis showed that the gelation of hydrogels formed a semi-interpenetrating network of ionically crosslinked chitosan and cellulose particles. Rheological tests have shown that the hydrogels exhibited shear thinning property necessary for printing. However, high cellulose amounts caused clogging during printing, and the presence of water limited the structural rigidity of the printed product. Besides this, it was found that the addition of cellulose was able to increase swelling, decrease degradation rate, and decrease gelation time, but the effect is not significant for any of these three properties.","PeriodicalId":36749,"journal":{"name":"ASEAN Engineering Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47827263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
