This paper presents the analysis and simulations of an UWB MB-OOK transceiver in the 6-8.5GHz band. This study is focused on the bandpass filter bank in the transceiver's architecture. The transmitter behavior is simulated employing the software package HP-ADS. The use of a Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) filter bank in the transceiver is considered. Finally, system performance in terms of throughput, error probability and covered distance are estimated for the proposed architecture..","PeriodicalId":366935,"journal":{"name":"2007 Third International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications (ICWMC'07)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114996086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The receiver consists of a FD MMSE Equalizer and a Time Domain (TD) decoder with iterative information exchange between the two functions. In particular, we propose a FD MMSE equalizer derivation improved from previous approaches, in that feedback and feedforward filters are directly derived in the frequency-domain. The accuracy of the proposed approach is confirmed by comparing the lower bound of the iterative equalizing process with the corresponding analytical results proposed in previous paper. Simulations over multi- path Rayleigh block fading channels show that the resulting algorithm exhibits similar performance with that of the corresponding TD MMSE equalization. The problem of finding the TD filter achieving the best compromise between minimum impulse response length and performance is considered.","PeriodicalId":366935,"journal":{"name":"2007 Third International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications (ICWMC'07)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125128309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MIMO-OFDM has become a promising candidate for high performance 4G broadband wireless communications. However, like OFDM, one main disadvantage of MIMO-OFDM is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmitter's output signal on different antennas. The selected mapping (SLM) approach provides good performance for PAPR reduction, but applying separately on each antenna this method doesn't benefit additional degrees of freedom providing by the use of multiple antennas. In this paper, we propose a more efficient solution using SLM in combination with sub band permutation.","PeriodicalId":366935,"journal":{"name":"2007 Third International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications (ICWMC'07)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123557908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the present security mechanism does not consider at all what happens whenever a mobile node (device) is compromised, lost or stolen. Since a user may hold many different types of devices, the leakage of stored secrets sometimes results in the complete breakdown of the intended security level. For that, we propose two Leakage-Resilient and Forward-Secure Authenticated Key Exchange (LRFS-AKE1 and LRFS-AKE2) protocols where the former is used to authenticate a device when its owner is present whereas the latter is used in the other case. These protocols guarantee not only forward secrecy of the shared key between device and its server but also a new additional layer of security against leakage of stored secrets. Furthermore, we give a secure group communication framework, based on the LRFS-AKE1 and LRFS-AKE2 protocols, in Private Personal Area Networks (P-PANs) which provides a group key privacy against the involved server who does not deviate the protocol.","PeriodicalId":366935,"journal":{"name":"2007 Third International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications (ICWMC'07)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122700965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We classify them as: intra layer, under layer and cross layer enhancements. We examine by simulation the interest to optimize the flow control mechanism and analyze that, compare to the routing protocol impact, the flow control one over the performance is marginal. Simulation results of a cross layer method, which is representative of enhancements recently proposed, are then examined. The cross layer mechanism is based on a freezing process triggered by a route failure event. With this type of optimization, the performance gain can be important but it is strongly dependent on the network mobility and in some cases it can work worst than TCP. From the TCP optimization analysis it appears that a mobile oriented self adaptive mechanism would be profitable.","PeriodicalId":366935,"journal":{"name":"2007 Third International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications (ICWMC'07)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129663585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application of non parametric regression and smoothing methods on radio measurements leads to interesting results, allowing the amelioration of radio resource management (RRM). We first define the notion of connectivity in probabilistic physical layer. In a lambda-connected network, all transmissions between any two devices has a probability of being done correctly greater or equal to lambda.
