Lycopene contributes to the red-colored pigmentation of fruits and vegetables, and it is a fat-soluble carotenoid with antioxidant properties. Epidemiological studies have shown the significant health benefits associated to the consumption of lycopene rich foods, because of the anti-cancer properties. Degradative losses of lycopene during processing is a grave concern, hence encapsulation provides a remedy. The objective of this study is to evaluate the encapsulation efficiency of two biodegradable polymers (PLGA and PCL) as for controlled release of lycopene in the gastrointestinal (GI) system. The nanoparticles (NP) were synthesized by emulsion evaporation method and physicochemical properties was determined using a Dynamic Light Scattering spectroscopy. The results show the hydrodynamic diameter of the lycopene NP synthesized in PCL (200 mg) and 3500 mg surfactant and sonicated for 15 min was 79.23±0.85 nm (Lowest). PLGA (500 mg) and 500 mg surfactant with 15 min sonication was observed to have the lowest NP diameter (108.2±2.66 nm) among the others. Significant difference result found in PDI value (0.12±0.07) when PCL of 200mg dissolve in 3500 mg of surfactant. On the other hands the zeta potential values were much smaller in case of PCL NP ranged between -1.3±0.046 and -4.21±0.08 mV compared to the PLGA NP -72.36±2.17 to 107.66±3.15 mV in all experiments. Thus, NP synthesized with PCL and surfactant provide a smaller sized nano-solution than PLGA and surfactant. As the degradation rate for PCL is lower than PLGA so PCL can be considered as a potential biodegradable polymer than PLGA to encapsulate lycopene. .","PeriodicalId":36690,"journal":{"name":"Platonic Investigations","volume":"93 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83845643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A case study approach is used to investigate four participants‟ decision to stay or leave abusive relationships that they experience. Ethological perspective of attachment theory and transpersonal psychology are used as theoretical underpinnings for this research. Through in-depth interviews, it was found that two participants decided to stay in abusive relationships because of lack of attachment security with parents in the past and misperception of dating concept. Secondly, it was found that spiritual transformation of two other participants was key element that helped them to leave and move on. In conclusion, this research has two implications. Firstly, as prevention for dating violence in youth, children must have secure attachment and relation with their parents as their primary figure of attachments. Secondly, spirituality can play important role in helping individuals to move on from abusive relationships.","PeriodicalId":36690,"journal":{"name":"Platonic Investigations","volume":"C-19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85053402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially with the existence of a gender equality program that makes employment opportunity become equal for both workers, men’s and women’s. Not infrequently even women are more able to compete and occupy important positions at work. But not a few women’s labor are involved in informal sector of workfield. Therefore, this study is aimed to explore the evidence of reasons behind women’s labor performing informal economic activity in Palembang, the city in South Sumatera Province of Indonesia.The method used in the study is a quantitative method by collecting data through surveys and interviews. Then the data were analyzed by using a descriptive analysis of frequency that presented in pie charts and descriptions. The findings of evidence through descriptive analysis of frequency showed that marital status, age, education, income, and business status are the reasons behind women’s labor performing informal economic activity in Palembang. Variable income opportunities attract women to work in the informal sector as well as flexibility and can be done independently (self-help). The conclusion of this study indicates that women that are educated, adult, and married tend to choose the fulfillment of the informal employment.","PeriodicalId":36690,"journal":{"name":"Platonic Investigations","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90577753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the implementation, the health center produces medical and non-medical waste that can disturb our health. If the waste is managed badly, it will impact on declining the health of the community and can cause health problems. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze problems related to medical and non-medical solid waste of health centers. This research was qualitative research. The informant of this research was selected using a purposive sampling technique consists of nine people who are competent in their skills. Depth interview was used to obtain the data, observations, and documentation guided by the decision of the minister of environment (KepmenLHK) No. 56/2015 and government regulations No. 81/2012 and analyzed by the descriptive narrative. The result of research refers to those input components related to human resources and facilities still insufficient in management. The sorting stage was still mixing medical and non-medical waste. No temporary trash bins available, and they transport manually. In the waste station, the waste was not processed immediately and ignore for several days. It indicates that medical and non-medical solid waste management at Alahan Panjang health center has not properly managed. The recommendations for Alahan Panjang health care are adding staff and facilities, and increase coordination, monitoring, and evaluation with relevant parties as though health centers, health offices, and environmental offices, and third- party.","PeriodicalId":36690,"journal":{"name":"Platonic Investigations","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83577488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering albumin function of the body is very important, a food survey should be done to understand what kind of food can increase albumin in tuberculosis patients. In this survey, patients were given egg white extract with honey. The purpose of this research was to assess the effectivity of egg white extract with honey intake on blood pressure dan Hb level. A single-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted at DR. M. Zein hospital in 2018 (895.6/034/RSUD/2019). Sampling technic used purposive sampling, and 32 patients were allocated to intervention (n = 16) and control (n = 16) groups. Both groups received high energy high protein diet; the intervention group received an oral egg white extract with honey for seven days. Data were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test to analyze before-after differences in blood pressure dan Hb level between. Wilcoxon Sign Rank test was used to assess the differences between the two groups. The average blood pressure and blood pressure before study in the intervention group, respectively, was 125/81 mmHg and 11, g/dL eight, and that in the control group was 114,06/75,13 and 10,99 mmHg. The average after study in the intervention group was 109/ 71mmHg and 12,8, and that in the control group was 119/78 and 11,3. Bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant difference in the increase of blood pressure and Hb level between intervention groups with p = 0.001 (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, there was no significant difference in the increase of blood pressure and Hb level between control groups with p = 0.5 (p > 0.05). Egg white effectively increased blood pressure and Hb level in the intervention group.","PeriodicalId":36690,"journal":{"name":"Platonic Investigations","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90668398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
