The objective is to develop a motion capture laser tracker based on a cost effective process that operates in the range of sub-centimeter accuracy. The laser tracker has a wide range of motion and can operate at high speed for both indoor and outdoor without the need for light calibration. Traditional laser scanning devices use expensive high dynamic steering mirror mechanism such as galvanometric scanners. The novel approach presented in this paper consists of splitting the tracking action into two sub-systems. First, a static local scanning based on several laser sources is implemented. The second sub-system consists of a global tracking that moves the overall head tracker using two electrical DC servo-motors. Applications targeted are object tracking and inspection of tanks. The approach is also valid for applications where traditional vision systems are not indicated because of non cooperative lighting condition and where an hemispheric field of view is required.","PeriodicalId":366216,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Symposium on Optomechatronic Technologies","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134049520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Shallow DOF is especially problematic in microscopic optical imaging systems because they have relatively large aperture size for high optical resolution. In this paper, a new DOF extension method is proposed. This is to acquire an image by integrating the incoming light while changing the size of annular pupil. By divining the pupil into annular form, the effect of the defocus aberration is reduced. Theoretical background and preliminary experimental results are shown. The results show that the DOF can effectively be extended by this method.","PeriodicalId":366216,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Symposium on Optomechatronic Technologies","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128737444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The actuator is designed for mobile phone camera. Considering total size and application of auto focusing module, the concept of the moving auto-focusing module is selected for optical image stabilization. The handshake of mobile phone is measured to define the specification of the actuator. Two kinds of 2-axis mechanisms made of two prismatic joints are designed and united the electromagnetic part which is already designed. Finally, two types are fabricated and verified experimentally.","PeriodicalId":366216,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Symposium on Optomechatronic Technologies","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123483431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The technique to determine the 3D displacement of the robot, using the image matching approach, is presented. Using a pair of stereo images, the coordinates for a set of points belonging to the robot in a reference position are computed in a 3D Cartesian system. The procedure is then repeated for a new position. In order to demonstrate the validity of this technique, some experimental results are also presented.","PeriodicalId":366216,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Symposium on Optomechatronic Technologies","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125935642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method can give out reliable optical flows output, even if the quality of image is very poor. In order to estimate optical flow of current templtate, first, we divide the template into some sub-templates, and then copute the similarity profiles of each sub-template. These similarity profiles can be used to extract two voting roles: positive voting role and negative voting role. The positive voting role can be used to increase correct optical flows, and the negative voting role can be used to reduce incorrect optical flows. We use two voting qualification variable (TP, TQ) to control the positive and negative voting processing, and use a SNR value to evaluate the each voting result. The estimated optical flow is reliability when SNR value converge to infinity only by useing small TP and TQ.","PeriodicalId":366216,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Symposium on Optomechatronic Technologies","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129303881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The focusing and imaging optics, as well as the die level laser diode and photodiode are integrated on the same platform, and scanned synchronously to extend the imaging range of the system. More than 600mm imaging range is achieved with 52° total optical scan angle. An integrated back-emf coil both enables the self-starting of the oscillations of the scanner, and also provides the velocity feedback for running the system in closed-loop. A special circuit is implemented to decrease the time to reach 80% of the full amplitude self-oscillations from 970ms down to 60ms.","PeriodicalId":366216,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Symposium on Optomechatronic Technologies","volume":"339 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124770667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accordingly, to detect the stable gap error signal under continuous operating conditions, the air gap control performance must be increased to avoid collisions due to external shocks. In this study, we propose an anti-shock air gap control system using a double disturbance observer (DOB) and a dead-zone non-linear controller. Experimental results demonstrate that a double DOB with a dead-zone non-linear controller maintained the optical head with SIL optics for a 5.31 G@10 ms shock. Thus, the air gap control performance in the presence of external shocks was improved.","PeriodicalId":366216,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Symposium on Optomechatronic Technologies","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128621260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
