Method: The bibliographic databases used to search the National Library of Medicine (PUBMED) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), in addition to manuals, magazines, and a literature listed in the Fundamentals of Legal Medicine by Genival Veloso de França. All the selected bibliography was published between the years 2008 to 2022. Conclusão: After the discussion and analysis of the data, it was possible to conclude that in calamitous events, sudden and of harmful proportions, it is essential that the process of identification of the human bodies be carried out by a qualified team of medical experts, followed by scientific forensic identification criterion, thus avoiding inaccuracies in this process.","PeriodicalId":366101,"journal":{"name":"Perspectivas em medicina legal e pericias medicas","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129448473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the hip prosthesis has a period of duration, or “lifespan”, which is influenced by the activities performed by the wearer, creating permanent limitations. OBJECTIVES: The objectives were to describe total and permanent incapacity for work activities that generate risks to the health of individuals undergoing hip replacement. METHODOLOGY: This study has an exploratory and descriptive nature, through literature research in Google Scholar, Pubmed, Medline and Scielo databases, review in books, newspapers, journals, scientific articles and national and international consensuses, related to the objective of this work. RESULTS: Consensus and articles bring restrictions, in the long term, after total hip arthroplasty, due to the risks of early wear, dislocation, osteolysis, loosening, higher frequency of reoperations, revisions and their possible complications such as infection, thromboembolic phenomena and death. DISCUSSION: Notably, professions with a high demand in physical activities are associated with a high rate of non-return to work and longer periods of rehabilitation when return occurs. CONCLUSION: Incapacity for work should be individually assessed by a qualified medical expert, however, we suggest considering total and permanent work incapacity for patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty in high-demand professions that require weight bearing, contact sports, extremes movements of the hip joint and long periods of standing or walking. An example is congenital syphilis, where the agent Treponema pallidum is transmitted to the fetus via placenta, with a high death rate. Despite this, the diagnosis can be made during prenatal care, reinforcing its importance. Objective: To identify and deepen knowledge about congenital syphilis, emphasizing primary health care for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Materials and methods: Literature review on congenital syphilis based on scientific articles included in PubMed, Scielo and Public Health Articles. The following descriptors were used: “STI”, “syphilis”, “congenital syphilis”, “pregnancy”, “newborns”, “consequences”, “treatment” and “penicillin”. Results: Congenital syphilis is caused by the vertical transmission of bacterium during pregnancy or by the newborn’s contact with maternal lesions. Its pathogenicity depends on the host’s nutrition, environment, and immune response. Its diagnosis is made during pregnancy by treponemic and non-treponemic tests and treatment should be started as soon as possible, in the pregnant woman, in the partner and in the future newborn, interrupting the transmission chain and preventing new cases. Conclusion: There are many challenges for the ideal control of congenital syphilis, still with a high number of infant deaths and abortion.","PeriodicalId":366101,"journal":{"name":"Perspectivas em medicina legal e pericias medicas","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132823585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Extrafamilial violence is characterized by occurring outside the family environment and is performed by people the victim knows or by strangers (Valle, 2018). Such subtype of violence is the main subject this research aims to investigate. Objective: To calculate the incidence of sexual violence in the metropolitan region of Salvador. Material and Methods: A descriptive, retrospective study was carried out with secondary data collected from cases of sexual violence registered at the Medico legal Institute Nina Rodrigues (IMLNR), from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2018. Results: 605 cases were included, 439 of which (72.56%) occurred in the municipality of Salvador. There was a higher incidence of sexual violence in the age group of 19 to 29 years (8.95 / 10,000 inhabitants). Most cases of rape investigated by the IMLNR occurred with women of brown color (77.9%), single (78%), with high school (38.3%) complete and residing in Salvador city (75.7%). Discussion: All the victims included in this study sought the IMLNR on their own and, therefore, a selection bias is possible, since one cannot guarantee that all the targeted population has files a complaint. Therefore, it is pertinent to consider that the results might be underestimated. Conclusion: Additional studies on sexual violence are needed to support public security policies. The Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) located in Afogados da Ingazeira, Pernambuco, Brazil, was established to perform sexological medical examinations. The objective of this study was to analyse medical forensic reports from victims of sexual violence admitted at the IML in 2018. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This is a descriptive study, comprising all sexological expert reports from the GDL System of the Regional Unit of the Scientific Police of Afogados da Ingazeira between its foundation in July 2018 and Dec. 31st 2018. RESULTS: From the 17 medical records analyzed, it was established that the average age of the victims was 13 years, most of them female (94%). In two cases (11,76%), the aggressor was unknown, in the other cases, most were from the same family environment as the victm. Thirteen victims considered themselves brown and four claimed to be white. Nine cases occurred in the urban area and eight in the rural area. Approximately 12% of victims reported alcohol consumption before the abuse. As for the characterization of sexual abuse, 35% corresponded to the carnal conjunction. DISCUSSION: In this scenario of a small number of cases, there was a predominance of 88,2% of aggressions perpetrated by the victim’s relatives and acquaintances, which is higher than the rate found in another study carried out in the State of Santa Catarina where there is a predominance of 50,9% of cases of sexual aggression arising from family members and acquaintances. CONCLUSION: Victims of sexual violence are on average young women who declare themselves to be brown, and having a friend or family member as perpetrator.","PeriodicalId":366101,"journal":{"name":"Perspectivas em medicina legal e pericias medicas","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114440683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of them is the registration and documentation of tattoos. Tattoos are body modifications with marks on the skin made by impregnating the epidermis with various pigments forming diverse figures. Their presence plays a very important role in our society, as it is also in the study of forensic sciences. Case report: The naked corpse of an unidentified female was located in a sewage stream, in an advanced process of putrefaction, with no soft tissues on the face due to cadaveric anthropophagy. In the external inspection, several tattoos were located that made positive forensic identification possible. Discussion: Biometric features, scars, marks on the body and tattoos have been especially important at a legal and forensic level, their state of conservation persists even after an advanced state of cadaveric decomposition, they remain even after the loss of the superficial layers of skin Conclusions. With this report we demonstrate the usefulness of the exterior study of the corpse and inspection of tattoos in the identification of unidentified corpses.","PeriodicalId":366101,"journal":{"name":"Perspectivas em medicina legal e pericias medicas","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115640927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A literature review on the subject was conducted based on international bibliographies related to the subject. RESULT: It was observed that there is a gap in the Brazilian literature on temporary aesthetic damage. DISCUSSION: The aim of this study was to address the temporary aesthetic damage and the debate on its characterization and valuation for due financial compensation in Brazilian literature. Thus, this type of damage, in most cases, is underestimated and is not considered at the time of assessment. CONCLUSION: The assessment of temporary aesthetic damage can include the psychological suffering of the victim; its valuation will be expressed through a quantitative scale of seven degrees of increasing severity (1/7 to 7/7 – Thierry and Nicourt Method) following the example of what happens with permanent aesthetic damage. The characterization of the temporary aesthetic damage and the attribution of its valuation need adequate justification. The so-called tertius, or Middle term, or even in medio virtus, is contained between the empirical perception and the Aristotelian thinking, therefore, and in our understanding, allowing all the advancement of science, philosophy and the clarification of the scientific character of so many theories and propositions. In this universe of thinking, the concepts mentioned above are amid the universal and the necessary and in that which happens most of the time, whenever science is done, as stated by the philosopher. In this article, we’ll start with an excerpt on Aristotelian thinking, following with reflections on “experience”, “frequent”, “trend” and finally, on biological implication, proving the correct insertion of these two last concepts in the Middle term of thinking about science as it was taught by Aristotle.
